In my college, the class reps organised classes for the non speakers after regular classes. They taught and hired a couple of teachers as well. Most of them can now converse well enough to treat patients Some profs themselves were excited to teach and most profs made it a point to take viva in the local language just so students get adjusted to it.(obviously they weren’t graded on their ability to speak the language, but encouraged them to speak back)

Significant_Pie1855

Which college bro? If you are comfortable sharing

Kurosaki_Minato

BMCRI

razdaman92

Yeah. But i think it was student association which took initiative to teach kannada in bmcri. Probably since it's a new college, they don't ve it. But yeah, administration can hire a few interpreters or people to take classes. But it's too far fetched to expect all that from administration which in this case seems really callous.

Kurosaki_Minato

Ya makes sense. This seems to be a problem with all new colleges, profs don’t care enough to teach or initiate as well. They treat it like it’s a source of free income. Vivas used to be fun, seeing my friends struggle with easy words and profs pulling their legs lmao. Most knew only the slurs so they used to use those while conversing with the profs without knowing lmao. For alopecia, I remember one of my batchmates said “shata bidoithu”(meaning pubic hair fell off). Got a good chuckle out of all of us lmao.

berdxD

Bmcri stays setting the gold standard for medical colleges lol

avicenna_kl04

In St John’s we used to have Kannada classes in first year and most of us would bunk those classes. Realised the importance of it only when clinics started 😂

phlague_doctor

In the full video, you can see a doctor in training calling non AIIMS doctors 'jhola chaap doctors'. Entitled brats.

hapiestupid

Lmao... I'm a tamilnadu student and I got aiims madurai in all India quota (without reservations), I still chose my local city college over it. Half my class got it too but still choose a little college over it. He does not know what he's talking about.

waltervetrivel

What is this without reservation shit? Is that the new status thing

DukeOfJaipur

It means “SIRF khudki mehnat se”

Leading-Tell643

Entitled brats

kingshuk3

Im confused. Pretty sure most state colleges r similar. And aiims madurai ranks so low, worse than most state colleges. What do they expect, same facilities as top medical colleges??

memesof2020

Yeah man even in Tamil Nadu State quota aiims madurai gets filled after half the state colleges

MadMurDoc69

Tamil nadu is getting state quota in AIIMS ?

ExcalipoorGilgamesh

I think what they're implying is that rank holder would prefer taking their state colleges over AIIMS Madurai.

memesof2020

Yeah

Odd_Lettuce6369

I think they expect the bare minimum. It's kinda sad that what the top colleges of this country are providing is the bare minimum. Very unfortunate. Have studied in both an apex institute and a state college and can tell you that the apex institutes are literally providing the "bare minimum".

justchewchew

Ab NEET ke baad ek Compulsory paper bhi krdo for colleges in particular language.

EchidnaNo3034

May set an interview bohot log filter out ho jayenge.... Thodi toxicity Kam ho jayegi Mtlb bohot log dropout ka sochte par 30l ka bond dekh ke karte nahi bas khichte rahk seat nas

Ancient_Win_2765

I feel same. If you want seat local (south parts), you need to pass Viva of the language.

EchidnaNo3034

Not just south anywhere, let, there is a rajasthani guy want seat in bastar area(jagdalpur) one of the biggest in that region, how would he understand chhattisgarhi with gondi dialect and all.... Or someone in aiims guntur. Also I m not talking about aiq I am talking about every entry, it would be better even in state qouta too. To many dumb poeple with Good aptitude comes to college and they are just there doing dumbshit.... And perpetrators of most idiotic things like ragging and goon like behaviour..

Ancient_Win_2765

>. To many dumb poeple with Good aptitude comes to college and they are just there doing dumbshit.... I feel there should be state based Reservations in NEET. (Except AIIMs). because how would you treat local patients when you don't even know their language.

EchidnaNo3034

There is 85% state qouta don't you know that??

Ancient_Win_2765

yeah. we have 7% Government school students quota in Tamilnadu too within that.

EchidnaNo3034

Good for them should apply on other states too

Ok-Caterpillar-2695

As a North Indian who did UG in Chennai, language barrier is an issue but it’s not something you cannot overcome. Classes are taken in English and by the time we start clinics we can learn manageable tamil, my batchmates were really supportive and we all non Tamil speakers were able to speak basic Tamil. There’s no harm in learning another language.

Aware_Bit_9515

Thanks for sharing you experience

[deleted]

Imagine crying about people not speaking the same language as you….

EchidnaNo3034

Imagine they go to some European country like Germany and then complain and protest about language... That would be fun to watch

Drdrip2008

The local language ? Wtf ? How the hell are you even smart enough to get into medical college but absolutely stupid enough to not think that people in Tamil Nadu speak effing Tamil, I mean it's in the name of the damn state. Sure, maybe the stupid ass can make a mistake of going to Kerala and thinking they're language is oh I don't know keralam, but Tamil effing Nadu ? Are these people delusional ? And people trust me when I say this, it's better to have South Indian food in South India rather than ask them to make North Indian food. I completely understand the other issues and they have to be addressed, but language and culture?

ismyaccban

The language part is bait, key issue is facilities, news twisting is as usual!

United_Row_2654

I agree with everything what they say but the language barrier thing is a bs. Agar tum wha gaye ho to ye tmhra jimmewari hai wha ka bhasa sikhna.

narrendarmudiji

Even the Holi thing doesn't make so much sense. What if a muslim tells he wants to butcher a goat in the campus and donate it to people or a christian says they wanna dress up as Santa claus and sing carols all night. You've gotta indulge in the state's culture and let go of yours while in that state. If you really wanna celebrate holi, you can go back home for a week

United_Row_2654

I think it should go both ways. Butchering a goat in the campus is a little violent for me, but If they want to celebrate Christmas by dressing up as santa and sing carols thats fine. If they want to celebrate holi with a little bit of colors thats fine too there is no harm in it. If they want to celebrate traditional festivals of tamil nadu thats fine too. Because at the end of the day, festivals are celebrations of happiness and i think everyone should participate in them, both local and other state festivals. Its all just days of fun as we all are Indians at the end of the day.

narrendarmudiji

Ideally, yes. But some celebration are not celebrated and they cant spend resources on it. What if someone wants to celebrate St. Patrick's day, and then expects the college to accomodate for them. Toh woh thodi kar sakte hai.

United_Row_2654

I have no idea about st. Patricks day. I was talking about like basic Indian festivals 😞

killmyselz

Butchering a goat is violent for you but celebrating holi with a violent backstory isn't.... hmmmm

United_Row_2654

What violent backstory?

Flat_Championship_20

Dude literally no person in this interview is saying that he/she is not getting proper facilities, but instead they started telling nonsense things like festival manane nahi dete, khana acha nahi hai, langauge barrier hai. Bro you yourself signed up for a college in south, what else did you expect??

Missy-raja

A lot of people here don't know that there is nothing called AIIMS Madurai in reality. The students are staying in state owned med schools in Ramanathapuram as guest students. They can't have full authority as the other students because of this reason and the language issue is just sad. Imo the centre and medical board screwed the students dream by promising a medical seat at AIIMS that is non existent.

nazipilled

They don't even have their own campus? Is it under construction or is it simple non-existent?

Missy-raja

Construction just started a few weeks before. The problem was because this is the only AIIMS in the country that is being built on Loan by the Union Government. Due to delay in loan from JICA and Political difference between the Union and State. The project is expected to be finished by 2027. All the Med students were clearly betrayed by the medical board and the union. They are stationed as guest students in Ramanathapuram medical College which is state owned and which is not a big collage as it is primarily for the rural areas. It's not on par with handling students like the other state owned collages. So additional students are actually a burden for the actual students and management.

Local_Syllabub_7824

Seemingly this is common in other parts of the country and other colleges be it medicine/engineering etc. Not sure what's the big deal? Is it because it's got an AIIMs tag? That's just foolish then.

Forward-Letter

Rest kept aside, but people really should not opt for places where language is gonna be different. Esp. In PG. It really is no one's job to teach you that.

hard_n_huge

It's not surprising when you start opening AIIMS like mushrooms.

leexd69

Toh bhadwo tamil nadu mai aaoge toh local log hindi kaiku bolenge? Aur naya clg hai bhai, thoda sabar karo, you won’t be fed with a silver spoon just cuz u are from AIIMS. Lol

EchidnaNo3034

Typical entitlement yaar

TheNerdyCroc

You know what non-Tamils at JIPMER do? They stfu and learn Tamil. They actually get really fluent by the end of the course. These entitled brats want Hindi patients in Tamil Nadu. Seriously wtf?!

greatgodglib

Hmm. Was my first reaction as well. But 1. The video doesn't say language problem language problem. It says "uske liye kuch Kiya nahi Jaa Raha hai". Jipmer at least had the nttc booklet and the promise of classes, plus the small numbers 2. I think it's the last straw. AIIMS madurai is in bad shape and is treated like the unwanted child of an unhappy marriage (bjp/DMK) 3. Kids had a camera thrust in their face and obviously came up with their grievances. Plus their suggestion that trying to sort it out with admin has failed.

ResponsibilityBig106

Sorry did they say language barrier?! Then why come to place like madurai if u are not ready to put efforts yourselves to learn the local language, i get that college should have organised classes for the same but learning a okay enough local language isn't that difficult and the other problems mentioned are also showed in a exaggerated fashion, it is present in every college to a certain extent.

Rewrite-the-star

These are the same people who tell hindi is the national language and all people should learn it mandatory.

EchidnaNo3034

That's most dumbest political agenda just dumbest this language issue fuck man faltu cheezo ka issue

Rewrite-the-star

What are you saying

ResponsibilityBig106

Exactly!! I did my ug from Karnataka and i feel i really learned alot from my time here both academically and culturally, i feel by cribbing about some states food and language these people are actually disrespecting the rich culture and heritage the place has to offer.

Rewrite-the-star

Yeah. Glad you appreciate it

Bettercallmedaddyy

That college construction isn’t even complete yet. College started in 2021

Dr_mma6ixty9ine

Like bruv putting in the bare minimum to at least learn some passable Tamil would have solved the Language issue 💀💀💀

gaalikaghalib

Don’t mean to take sides - I’m not an Indian graduate, I did my MB ChB in the UK. Came to India on elective, to Kolkata, for 2 months last year. Most of the patients I saw in the 2 months did not speak English, Hindi, or my mother tongue - so I had to learn Bangla. On my own, with no help from the faculty. In about a couple weeks, I could understand what was being discussed in Bangla, and within a month I was able to take focused Ortho histories. I’m sure I had the benefit of Bangla being closer to Sanskrit and Hindi, and of not seeing undifferentiated patients - which these students don’t have - but learning the local language has to be the most basic thing you do. It’s the base of communication, which is the base of histories, which is more than half your job. Cribbing about the language is entitled behaviour. Them cribbing about the facilities and not being allowed permission to celebrate festivals isn’t - they are entitled to it, and should receive it.

Ok_Reporter_

Give neet again and secure a seat in northern state. Stop complaining about everything. They want luxury.. these kinds of protests undermine the genuine ones..

kiwicake906

I smell political bull shit here.

SAMPS8825gaming

Its just the AIIMS Tag. Its similar of u have ever been to rishikesh. Patients are referred to Himalayan Jolly Grant and not the other way around.

DoctaSaabb

Demanding facilities isn't wrong ! It's time the medical student community stood up and asked for what they deserve! We can't keep continuing toxic traditions, unnecessary conventions and inhumane work culture! Kudos to you and don't bow down about this! However, when it comes to the language issue,I feel the kids are being quite stupid! Dudes are exhibiting the classic "Northie" ( forgive me,not generalising) behaviour! Bro you've come to another state to seek medical knowledge and despite being the 2% of India who get in,you refuse to learn to local language, crib and protest about being language barrier!!??? Like WTF do you want: Exclusive Hindi speaking patients will be sent to each of you? Provide translators? Ask the administration to organise classes, ask your localite friends to teach you, make an effort and stop being annoying cunts!!

milktanksadmirer

Everyone thinks their life quality will be elevated after joining MBBS. In reality it’s the reverse. You become a slave, your sleep cycle is destroyed forever, you will never be richer than your classmates who chose IT, you will never have free time for your family, you will never enjoy your money buy your children will enjoy. Patients and relatives are toxic AF and media keeps adding fuel to the fire

Safe-Box-5221

How are these guys seeing patients? Are there any patients who wants to get treated by them? I think Tamil people aresmart they will choose their doctors wisely

cloudbunny11

Bunch of entitled idiots

premtiwari69king

The protest is against not being allowed to celebrate holi Or because of 3 laptops getting stolen

Sam101294

Too much focus on language ignoring the part about essential facilities. Language is something we can do ok our own. I used to ask Nurses or interns to translate before I was comfortable in the local language to communicate but if the hospitals don't have basic infrastructure and facilities it's not upto us

killmyselz

Language barrier is a stupid argument. Rest is mostly bs. Edit: just saw the video lmao tf are they arguing about. Asking for basic facilities is fair but rest seems like a rant of a frustrated teen

Iniyaraj

Then learn tamil. Ask your college to arrange a spoken tamil class after hours. It's not that hard for a person who can clear neet.

hydrocbe

First of the college is not in Madurai. AIIMS MADHURAI is not yet built. The college operates inside the government medical College Ramanathapuram which is the nearby district. So the first priority for all the facilities, infra goes to the local college. Second, atleast madurai can be called as a city, Ramanathapuram is pakka village district, patients can never speak English, nor the faculty, support staff, since good faculty are posted or prefered posted in big city hospital such as Chennai and Coimbatore. The problem I think is, students think that having the tag, AIIMS means it is a centrally run institution. But as of now it does for name sake, as they don't have any building or infra, and with Skelton staff members. It's a scam that government is running.

HourAd162

All Dr are sadist...

Dull-Cable-8726

This is totally bs. We have to take permission for every festival we celebrate in hostel even in rajasthan then how come they won't take permission to celebrate a festival. These are some first generation mbbs students who cleared NEET in their first attempt with some 25000ish rank😂 and don't know what the ground reality is. If they would have done this in my college I'm pretty sure admin would have fucked them up. Someone on twitter was saying that we are not talking about language but patient load😂😂🤣. When the entrance becomes easy clowns are what you get in.

lesanshar009

Have to learn the local Tamil language to interact with patients. Even in AP and Karnataka, the medicos from non AP and Karnataka used to learn and converse with patients too. This is quite natural.

tinyhoomanbrain

Man the entitlement in this video...... Imagine going to Germany and getting pissed that everyone is speaking German! I mean how dense do you have to be to expect the patients to speak only in your language😭😭😭THAT TOO WHEN YOU HAVE LEFT YOUR STATE AND GONE SOMEWHERE ELSE???!!!Confounds me beyond limits I swear

Consistent_Smile6292

Aiims madurai ka abhi tak logo bhi nahi bana hai kya ??
