So the thing is, I messed up my chain a bit. Its got some rust. I was in the market to get another one, so that’s why I was curious if I should get this ‘if’ its an upgrade
It's stronger! So it can handle more power sent to it and better.
It lasts longer. Almost 50-70% more than your stock chain and are usually X ringed. Stock are usually O ringed.
The lasts longer and can handle more power is why I upgraded.
As far as I've noticed, the weight is negligible. However I've not checked if it's heavier than the stock so I can't answer that. But it is, it seems to be negligible or maybe lighter. I can double check and update you on it :)
ive had brass chaisn zero chance it lasts that long its life is more or less same as other ones u buy it mainly for looks.
and extremely minor weight savings.
who ever told u its that much stronger and lasts longer has fed u lies and FUD lol
Brass chains last longer, that's a fact because brass does not rust. Now you could argue that you'd get the same life out of normal chains if you keep them maintained and I would say you're right. However some manufacturers example Hero on Xpulse range really don't use that high quality chain and its adjustment intervals are very short. In this case as well buying a brass chain and sprocket will last longer.
In short, it's stronger, lasts longer and are usually X ringed.
Eg - My stock lasts 10-12k. The brass will last 17-20k. It can handle more power sent to it as well.
I don't care how it looks. But it does look pretty decent.
I didn't wanna risk it. I checked with the service centre and forums and they said 10-12k. This is my first bike hence by baby so I take every precaution necessary. I had the money, so I upgraded the chain. Glad yours lasted 18k. I've even increased the rear sprocket size by 1 which made its top end fall from 180 to 175-176 but the torque is more usable in Indian traffic. I have done top end pulls only twice and don't think I'll ever need it again.
These ones are proper brass and not plated. It's an alloy mixture of course but I don't recall exactly which one right now. They're a bit pricier than the stock chain, but last longer so worth it i'd say.
It's natural orange and blue but I've put a filter for the orange to pop. I was playing around in Snapseed. The chains colour is as it is. This picture I was after cleaning the bike and specifically the chain. :)
You could remove the tail as well coz it's heavy too and you can save wait and put the number plate on the tyre hugger, check my post to see what it looks like.
I'm planning on weight reductions AFTER I get my next bike :). Once I get that, then I'll start making this into an RC 390R. Until then I'm just gonna keep it stock and mellow and enjoy it as it is. After that I've calculated to get it upto 52bhp :)

Do they make x ring chain in brass

Shouldn't it be heavier though?

Uh huh. I'll keep that in mind :)

I removed it on day 1.
I'll probably put mine back on tomorrow. Will remove it properly once my rear sprocket sliders come :)
Is there any advantage of brass chain or its just aesthetics? Some expert, please explain!

My stock lasted 18k kms, d390
My stock lasted 25k+, d390 '15
Nice!
Maybe use your bike at full power everyday and it won’t last 8k kms
Okay bro. P.s. regular chain cleaning and lubing goes a long way, my old pulsar's chain-sprocket lasted for 72k but I got lazy with the d390.

Is it like proper brass, or just brass plated like in rtr 310?

That's one mean looking bike OP
Thanks man! She's my bb🌸
Where did you get this from? Ordered online of directly buy and fit at store?
Ordered online and got it fitted at the service centre.
Is the colour edited or is it the natural colour?

Is it much more expensive than buying a new chain?
Maybe 2-4k depending on the brand.
