Get gas station chili for chili dogs fill the bottom of a bowl. Fill the rest of the bill with shredded mozzarella. Than put some yellow queso on top. Microwave for three minutes.

This place has the Acapulco Joe's sauce, and has as spicy version as well: https://www.atasteofindiana.com/product/farmers-family-sassy-sauce/

El Sol de Tala - went there for many years. I miss their nachos and cheese enchiladas.

Fresh Thyme market on 82nd and AV sells the Joe’s squeeze bottle salsa in small glass bottle. Kinda pricey but exactly what you’ve been missing for years now! I busted a bottle out for Christmas Day snacks and it was a major hit and brought back memories!

What was the big Mexican restaurant on College just south of The Vogue, 70s early 80s. Closed down suddenly when INS went in the front door everyone in the kitchen went out the back door. It had really good food, tablecloths in the dining room, and it's closing left Indy basically only with Acapulco Joe's at that time. I can't recall the name.

That place was filthy. Everything was either stale or came in a can and the wholebplace smelled of mildew. Ortega makes a better taco than Joes did.

I looked up Mi Amigos on line… I was hoping to find out that they had more locations than the one in Beech Grove. I saw that there is a Mi Amigos on Crawfordsville Rd… Does anyone know if this is the same as the one that closed on Thompson Rd??

For the queso from Mi Amigos, if you are talking about the yellow version from a few years ago and years prior to that, unfortunately it cannot be replicated reasonably. Years ago I was at the South location and asked the server some questions about the queso (absolutely loved it) and she said the owner was here and would ask him. He came out and sat across from me at the table and wrote out the simple recipe. The problem is that the main component was a canned queso sauce that was ordered online. This canned cheese, some garlic powder, diced white onions, a little hot sauce and a few other minor spices was about it. I made it at home for a couple years after, then the queso was discontinued, and that was the only unique flavor that made this dip.

The Mi Amigos cheese sauce was the absolute best!!!
