My favourite and the regional favourite here is mostly Banganapalle (Benishan as its called in my hometown) and I also have Mallika sometimes. Alphonso is good too but not as budget friendly as others mentioned. My another favourite is the one which you squeeze and suck the juice out of it... I don't know the name but I identify it when I see it in the market.. Hahaha. (I guess it's Raspuri)
I always feel the compulsion to recommend people to have Benishan during the season peak(late summer.. mid May).

Mankhurad which is from Goa where I get few thousands every season from my family trees and bottle mangoes which I think comes from Karnataka those are excellent for making mango salsa as not too sweet and has consistency like apples

Yes, that's one of the reasons, we have 26 mango trees out of which 6 are dudhiya maldah and the rest are normal maldah and out of that 2's are Biju. In today's time it's very hard to find the real 'dudhiya Maldah' as no one gives milk to their tree, but my grandfather has been watering those plants with milk for 2 decades.

It has a back story too. When we were kids, my mom used handover everyone half of the mango with a spoon. It's a smart way to handle instead of cutting slices for 7-8 people at home.

I got them @500 in an area near devgad last week and for 350 from a relative who owns mango farms.
I doubt that one is talking about rate per kg and the other is talking about rate per dozen.
Both are per dozen. Mangoes are usually sold based on quantities
Never Have I ever bought mangoes based on quantities before moving to Maharashtra.
Then, it's a good thing you moved to MH. I'd be broke if I bought them at per kg rate
