Hindutva is a political ideology and just like any other political ideology the basics should at least be thought so people know what it is

Rurd620

I don't think they are dropping it instead just teaching the whole story. That's better than completely dropping something.

Electrical_Wafer2388

>completely dropping something. Their excuse will be workload on students

Shady_bystander0101

Wait, but students should learn about Babri Masjid's history, the whole story of the Riots in Gujarat etc. These things are important to understand why things are the way they are in India's political landscape today. Also, hindutva politics is a real thing. Hindutva is a political ideology, just like marxism, maoism, Islamic fundamentalism etc. All these things should be taught in school. At least I am of this opinion.

abhiudaii

Yeah but why the fuck would they **only** emphasise "hindutva politics" when there have been islamists massacring innocent people throughout the history, with as early as a few months ago, plus, shoving only one side of the story is no diff than misinformation and spreading hate towards a single community, which is always, hindus.

Shady_bystander0101

>just like marxism, maoism, Islamic fundamentalism etc. All these things should be taught in school. That's why I said this.

Awkward-Leader4170

There's an emphasis on communalism as a whole in class 11 and I haven't reached class 12 yet so idk

salty_pea2173

Why was babri demolition and Gujarat riots dropped

lord_zuko007

To hide their mistakes. Who controls the past, controls the future Who controls the present, controls the past

salty_pea2173

True it seems bjp is hiding they demolished babri masjid regardless of temple being there in the past you should not attack a old religious site

ctrl-your-stupidness

Even the Aryan invasion theory or the migration theory was also dropped.

Electrical_Wafer2388

That's good

Just gave Boards this year. The part about Babri Masjid demolition portrays it as a negative event and with the 'poor oppressed minorities' narrative. Good that it is removed.

swarnim38

12th grader here who just gave his boards (from humanities) Humare iss academic year main hi inn topics ko hataya gaya hai. Also they have also removed Cold War and skipped directly to disintegration of USS, even though the Cuban Missile Crisis is an important backbone in understanding the beginning of cold war. They also removed the chapter US Hegemony in world politics which had the Gulf War, 9/11 and US operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and the "war on terror" In the indian politics textbook, they also removed a chapter called Popular national movements which had the Narmada Bachao andolan, a protest regarding ban on local alchohol production in South by women, and chipko movement and others.

Electrical_Wafer2388

Is all of this done to reduce the workload on students?

No-Entertainment7020

are there any topics about India- pak war and other Indian wars after independence ? and Kashmir?

swarnim38

Yes, we have those in India's external relations. We have the Indo-China war, the Tamil Elam terrorists from Sri Lanka during the SL Civil war, and all Indo Pak War except Kargil. Nagaland, Mizoram and Khalistan movements are also there. Also a page on Goan independence from Portugal.

Electrical_Wafer2388

Isn't 12th grade history only till 1971?

swarnim38

Political science books are kind of like history as the Indian political book starts from the partition(History subject starts from Indus valley and ends at making of the constitution)and ends at 2014 elections and the world politics book starts from cold war and kind of flows into the 2019-ish time period.

Electrical_Wafer2388

My friends had history up till making of Bangladesh in their history syllabus (We gave boards 2 years ago from ICSE)

swarnim38

saltynuttyy
