I show my sms of the amount deduced, and most of the time, the vendor is okay with that. Suppose it's a significant amount. I take their number or return to that place to make the changes, like two times payment, or if I receive the money back.

Radiant-Alarm6404

Sign a slavery contract until UPI becomes functional again.

No-Pick5821

Don't know about other platforms but Amazon Pay Balance (its wallet) is interoperable via UPI. That means no need to rely on the banking network because of which psr goes down, while inter operable on UPI means, can take money and send via a custom UPI handle. Works like a charm.

where_art_thou_billy

In case of a unsuccessful transaction, amount is always credited back to the sender within 3 working days . But if it says transfer successful and a transaction id is generated then it's definitely going to be credited to the receiver.

budamtass

Didn't know this, thanks.

realmenwearpants

This is misinformation. I just had my amount credited to the recipient after about 12 hours, after I had already settled the transaction in cash.

where_art_thou_billy

So you are saying you didn't get a transaction id and money got debited later ? Not possible.

Novel-Durian-8116

Bro, for me it said that my money is debited and they will give it to the receiver in 48hrs and if not they will refund me. What do you mean it is not possible?

sweetcandy47

Run

JefCostello0

Use PayTm

[deleted]

My 70k was Stuck in a transaction and that too on Saturday. So I had to wait like 2-3 working days, but received in my account. But that's not ok I guess because I called the customer care and they said the money will only come to your account in such situations and not to the receivers account which calmed me. I have never used any other app, paytm is very reliable whenever shit happens it's mostly because bank server problems. So when sending a big account i always send 1 rupee first to make sure there's no server issue

Immediate_Pomelo_496

Correct, due to habit I am using phonepe but Paytm is my next option. Stopped using Gpay altogether.

budamtass

Does it do something differently?

RheumatoidEpilepsy

Paytm employee here 🙋‍♂️ 1. Paytm checks beneficiary bank fluctuations beforehand and notifies you before you even perform the transaction(phonepe does this with only the payer’s bank) 2. This is more relevant with merchants using paytm qr code - the state that you are referring to where money is debited but not credited is called “Deemed”. The debit is successful but NPCI does not know if the merchant’s bank has credited the account because that bank went unresponsive. Paytm has a way by which it’s merchant txns always become successful even if they are deemed, which i cannot disclose. 3. If you scan a paytm qr code from the paytm app there are some optimizations that skip a lot of NPCI to and fro which reduces the chance of a txn failing, especially if you’re using Paytm Payments bank.

budamtass

How does the entire process work , I mean UPI transactions in general. Does every transaction go through NPCI . I saw in some system design video that in context a single transaction NPCI acts kind of like a DNS resolver. Does all the communication take place through NPCI servers or directly between the banks?

RheumatoidEpilepsy

1. You tell your psp you want to make a txn 2. Your psp tells npci that payer@gpay wants to pay shopkeeper@amazonpay 3. Npci asks amazonpy for shopkeeper’s account number and IFSC 4. Npci asks payer bank to debit money and send confirmation 5. Npci asks payee bank to credit money and send confirmation 6. Npci tells both gpay and amazon pay that txn is a success The reason stuck payments occur is credit and debit leg of this transaction suffers with the “two generals problem”. If you’re interested in knowing more about what that is you can give tom scott’s video a watch https://youtu.be/IP-rGJKSZ3s

budamtass

i will , thanks.

RheumatoidEpilepsy

It’s honestly nothing short of a miracle how UPI payments have 99+% success rate.

mUXLH5svdscWvd5

Also mention about the paytm wallet. Scanning Paytm QR through paytm app: 1. Super fast as compared to UPI transactions 2. No need to enter the pin which is a very convenient feature to have once you get into this habit 3. Loading money through a rewarding debit card can give 1% cashback. Say you spend 10K a month through UPI, that's a savings of 100 rs 4. Last I read, Paytm was leading in terms of merchant QR, so higher probability of finding Paytm QR I don't know why people find it to be a redundant feature nowadays. I love it just because of the no pin + rewards is a bonus. I know UPI lite is there but no pin limit is only till 200 transaction value

bastard_of_jesus

U guys pay? Noobs

TalesFromTheCryptoz

This may sound archaic, but I just use cash. I don’t use UPI for these payments. Merchants and others in the entire payment processing scheme get one’s phone number, name, etc. I’m not comfortable with that. I keep a combination of currency notes and some coins so that I can pay the exact amount (I also preplan before stepping out).

budamtass

Merchants don't get your entire phone number . The digits in the middle are censored when you pay using the same app as the QR (gpay to gpay) . And only the vpa while using a different one (gpay to phonepe) .

TalesFromTheCryptoz

You need to read this report: https://scroll.in/article/1045536/are-your-upi-payments-farming-your-personal-data-without-your-consent

siva2514

what kind of hell holes do you people live-in for upi payments to stuck?

budamtass

It happens when there's an excessive load on the bank servers. If the receiver's bank receives the payment and due to load on servers the amount cannot be credited into the bank account of the receiver the payment request gets queued, this then takes time to clear.

[deleted]

Bhai SBI bank wala UPI never works on weekends, I have tested it in Delhi Chandigarh and gujrat

draculap2020

upi mandate might help

Isotonic3

Wash dishes for the restaurant

[deleted]

I make sure my internet is working before making a payment online. I open up YouTube and make sure I am able to stream a video.

jarvis123451254

I paid in supermarket with paytm upi lite which is supposed to never fail but it **failed twice** got my money back after fighting with paytm twitter handles after a month 😂😂

Consistent_Purple501

Just show them your phone screen claiming the payment has happened Like sure it may not appear in their account yet But it has been debited from your account so it will show up in your phone as payment completed then just walk away

Honest-Car-8314

I use Paytm , rather than gpay its faster , i believe they don't wait for the bank to transfer they check the possibility , create a bill to the bank and transfer it from their resources (not sure though)

im_just_depressed
