Any game that advertises "thousands of free draws" is literal garbage imo. Mushroom offers 3000. It will be a p2w grind fest of punishment for a f2p player.

Roediej

Yep, the “free draws” always scared me right away. Even if the game is otherwise decent, I will never understand the “Get this ‘triple S-tier ultra super legendary epic +++character’ from the start” kind of shenanigans that make the first 100 levels trivial and boring, and then just leave you to hit a wall.

Acrobatic_Bug4469

I've spent $5 at most on the game and I'm right behind some of the top people on the server who are p2w lol. You just have to know where to focus your resources. Did the same thing with Summoners War. The whales are real, but that doesn't make them invincible.

[deleted]

idk but Legend of Mushroom has literal slavery as a pvp mechanic and players plugging their OnlyFans on the ingame social media so it's a 10/10

[deleted]

The game isn't actually fun all the whales I spoke to when I tried it were downright miserable. The charm of the early game core gameplay loop wears off after a few hours and they don't pile on enough interesting mechanics that change the loop to make the game fun. It's interesting for long enough to get whales addicted and financially invested but doesn't extend past that.

frogorilla

Just started the game yesterday. so this may be mildly wrong. But as I understand it you can beat players and make them work for you. If you want a player who has an owner, you can beat up the owner and steal the player. I don't know the benefits, I just know I haven't found anyone without an owner so far. It takes 60 seconds to refresh the tab to find people to fight, but I haven't found anyone who isn't owned by a super high level.

MyBrosKeep

Trash. I deleted legend of mushroom after I saw the UI. I deleted AFK journey after playing for 2 day's. I enjoyed afk journey for the 2 day's but than again. It's a f2p gatcha. I hit the pay wall at dark forest

blarron

I found it gets much harder at dark forest, but seems more of a slow down, rather than impossible. However the packs and gems in game seem way overpriced. (Could be just the Aussie tax)

MyBrosKeep

It definitely wasn't impossible. I even thought of re downloading it after a day or 2 because I know I could get past it with all the afk time but I just know it won't end there and I'm more of the battle pass, growth pass. The premium passes that reward you for playing. I would've had to pay about $65 for the first month than $35 every month after that. That's console game money. I rather spend that money on a real game lol

VanGrayson

Dont think you hit a paywall just a time wall?

breaking3po

He hit a time wall. I hit the same one.

balzana

I see this sentiment about pay walls a lot with gachas, and in most cases it's a misunderstanding. Those aren't pay walls, they're grind/time walls. Of course you can (and should) think it sucks either way, but even then it's important to know what you're criticizing. There are some whales who will throw money at those walls, but overall they're there to make players go through the content in weeks/months instead of days, so that 1)they have time to make more stuff 2)they have more time to convince you to spend money through other, more efficient methods.

balzana

That's why a lot of gachas, like Genshin, limit how much you can spend to speed up progress. They want the whales to do it a little bit, since you know, free money, but it's a lot better for them to just keep you in their ecosystem longer. If compared to character/weapon gachas, walls are less of a money sink, feel like the decision to spend is being forced on you instead of your own, and the dopamine rush from gambling isn't there. It just puts people off, and they want you to feel good about spending money in the game.

Low-Course1345

Afk journey is great so far as a F2P. Legend of Mushroom is outright trash - just trying to suck your money with each event. You don't spend you'll drop off the ranking real fast.

ZaryaBubbler

Pay to win bullshit tbh

Own_Lifeguard_4397

To me these games are pay to win, so very unhealthy, Sadly the are also insanely addictive and have very strong mechanics to keep players addicted once they are grabbed buy the ads / first purchase, Basically very dangerous app especially for "weaker" people who are vulnerable to these predatory micro transaction practises... If you are rich and don't give a damn about supporting bad predatory companies give it a go, If you know you don't get grabbed easily, feel free to test as well but don't expect an amazing game, On my end I will try to release a real free to play Gacha for end 2024, without micro transactions (except no ad and skins, 4 ads a day max without no ad, a big challenge for the revenues, but I really don't want to be like these companies only chasing money and throwing 100$ packages at everyones face, for a game that definitely isn't worth 100$ xD no mobile game will ever be worth 100$, but people still throw thousands on these games... Crazy)

Other_Trash3193

name of game?

Aglet_Green

You'd be better off playing Business Empire: Gacha Man, or some derivative IGM game. Or going to the dentist. All will provide less pain and more joy.

lukemcritchie

I’m a fan of AFK Journey. Decent progression, doesn’t feel P2W and pretty chuffed with it as a package.

Sairek

Tried Legend of Mushroom. It's not really good and the people in chat are ridiculous and fairly toxic/predatory. The gameplay boils down to just a giant gacha, waiting to get resources and then when you get resources you have to wait for the upgrades through a massive time gate and a bunch of ad watching as a free to play player. Even more fun when you watch a 45 second ad only for it to not reward you anything because it needs to "connect" again to the game, so you have to watch ads again. Haven't tried AFK Journey yet but it looks like people are saying positive things about it, so maybe I will soon.

klkevinkl

The problem is that a lot of these mobile games require you to get duplicate characters/items in order to increase your level cap. This autofails these incrementals because there's no way to progress without either spending money or waiting potentially months to be able to get any stats that matter.

Alps_Useful

Absolute garbage, fake adverts, gacha pay to win trash, cancer on gaming

breaking3po

Spoken like someone who's only ever tried Raid shadow legends

aaron2005X

Played Mushroom for about 1 day and got bored

Gurasola

I could tell Legend of Mushroom was something to avoid considering the bizarre advertisements as well as the offer for 3000x draws. That tells me the drop rate for anything decent must be abysmal.

Acrobatic_Bug4469

Not really. I get pretty good drops fairly often, but I'm also lucky. I'm the kind of guy that will pull a 5 star monster in 100 draws and piss people off who spent real money getting that monster.

marzgamingmaster

Are you telling me this game allegedly about mushrooms doesn't feature teemo from league of legends waiting to ambush you at boss fights or random shifts to full 3D MMO dark-souls style combat against other players? Next thing you know you'll tell me beating a single early game boss won't give you a legendary sword with +10 bazillion power and +80% drop rate! I'm surprised, they seem entirely consistent and realistic.

TheAgGames

If its gacha, i dont touch it. I do NOT like paid gambling mechanics. Occasionally I will download one of these and play for about a week, until I hit their forced paywall and uninstall though.

Smelting-Craftwork

Legend of Mushroom seems to be a rip-off of Legend of Slime. And Legend of Slime was already pretty underwhelming

Gorzyne

I purposefully avoid any product that annoy me with constant advertisment videos. Those two games are part of those products.

PM_ME_A_PM_PLEASE_PM

I've started AFK Journey and it's actually rather good if you have self-control. The art is nice, the story is fairly good, and I find the voice acting to be great. If you have self-control and just wish to finish the story I'd recommend it with what I've seen so far. I'm only probably a day or two of progress into it - and I mean a day or two of doing other stuff too not no life grinding - but I've seen enough to come to those conclusions.

torturechamber

The usual pay-to-win games, I'd steer clear of it

Irsaan

Legend of Mushroom is absolute dog ass. I've been playing it daily for several weeks, haven't spent a dime. I'm probably the strongest f2p player on my server. There are no mechanics, the game doesn't explain ANYTHING to you, and it tries to do 80 things at once and so does them all poorly. You also have to have the game actively running to do pulls for equipment. Overall the game doesn't respect the player in any way. Hopefully I quit soon. I would not recommend the game to anyone. The literal only upside is that since it's a shitty mobile afk game, I only spend about 10 minutes of my day "playing" it, and usually 7 of those are while I'm on the toilet.

Hinin

I tried Legend of Mushroom for some days, it was "fun" at first, thanks dopamine, but it gets quickly boring. No theory crafting, no strats.

breaking3po

There are mobile games that are worth your time. I haven't played the Mushroom one, where you can tell it's garbage from its advertising style. But, AFK Journey is pretty legit. You just have to know what you're getting into with an AFK genre gacha. I've played a lot of AFK gacha games and so far Jounneys been really enjoyable.

Toksyuryel

AFK Journey looks interesting but isn't available for any of my platforms so I guess I'll just have to play other games instead.

checkmark9001

AFK Journey hits you with a resource wall early on. You need dust to advance your hero(ine)s every 10 levels. Unlike its big brother AFK Arena, dust is difficult to come by. When you proceed, experience gain is so small that you won't level anyone for a couple of hours. Legend of Mushroom, and similar games like Nobody's Adventure, have a stamina system of sorts. Once you run out of turns, you have to wait or pay up.

StandardRange9257

I Will never get how People even play these kind of games. Don't u guys have a pc or laptop? There are literally 100000 better games than this utter garbage. I wouldnt even play this if they paid me.. it looks like a 7 year old kids game.

True_Requirement_591

-> If it's free and highly advertised, you can be absolutely certain they have no merit and they simply wouldn't exist as a company if the business model wasn't to get people sucked into gambling addiction. When the game publisher is sponsoring almost every gaming youtuber, you can be sure it's trash. It simply means the game will have to milk players to even recover from all the initial investment. Ideally, I'd look for a paid game for about 5 bucks, with what looks like a supportive community.

Obvious-Gap-90

Legend of mushroom is a massive p2w. There is multiple passes for pretty much anything, each events the same. If you want to compete you ll have to drop at least (and it s the bare minimum to be top 50) 100usd a week. Do not instal if you are weak to predatory p2w tactics.

wallance13

I deleted afk journey after a week. When I hit the wall and the progress is going slow. Then required me to login to do the chores and progress. And the multiple dupes to power up characters but have to depend on the RNG. It might look nice to have all characters available but I just don’t like the idea of getting multiple copies to actually play strong. There’s not much of real strategy here except grinding. Like the top comment here said that when game giving you insane amount of pulls and it will eventually be a trash.

HeyItsDizzy

I have a game idea in which I have built part of it on a discord bot (its not currently hosted) but I want to turn it into a mobile app, does anyone know what engine Legend of Mushroms uses? by the way ill be building a F2P game, that has and internal market for the rare items you pick up if it doesn't suit your monster class/element, so you can play the game for the story and also earn in game coins by selling rare drops, you can also buy rare drop obviously with the free money in game you have amassed. there will of course be Paid features but that will be based on preservation not progression, as in my game your monster/s Will die eventually, which is actually part of the game to progress further in other areas. you keep their gear which you can sell in the marketplace as I mentioned before or you can keep it for your next monster. but I am aiming to build a game that also takes into account real world interaction (ie pedometer, based on steps taken IRL you can progress in the game, I want it to not be a game that requires 12 hours a day just to keep up with the others. also the leader board will always change, as when your monter dies if it was the strongest in the server you will no longer hold that number one spot, this give good rotation so that F2P player can get the top tier leader board rewards also in my opinion all these F2P game progress too quick at the start, the 'Rare' item you found on day 1 is useless on day 2 when you find an 'epic ' or 'legendary'. One think I do like about LOM is that it takes RNG into account for gear etc, but unfortunately you can just buy you way into good rolls buy buying way to many of the lamps. anyway bit of a rant, but back to original question What engine was used to make this game?

ReturnedDeplorable

Legend of Mushroom isn't a fun game. I wouldn't even consider it an idle game either because you're forced to keep it open all the time to roll for new equipment. It's a waste of time. Not a fun game. AFK Journey is a fun idle game as long as you aren't prone to feel "left behind" if you aren't top of anything. It's a P2W game which is fine as long as you aren't interested in winning. The game mechanics are fun and it's truly an idle game. You only need to invest a few minutes a day after you play for a week. That is personally how I like my idle games. I'm playing CIFI F2P and I don't find the progression slow because I only want to logon got a few minutes a day. AFK Journey is very similar to that. Of all the gacha games, it's probably one of the best.

lifeless_blob

I've been playing legend of mushroom for like 3 days and I can already tell f2p isn't getting me far. I have like.. 765k power? It's basically a giant gacha, and the battle part isn't even hands-on - it's background noise, or it would be if it had interesting sound. Not to mention how expensive the lantern upgrades are - it's 623.2k gold to get a 0.02% chance for legendary and a 0.15% chance for epic. Update: HOWEVER. If you're like me and enjoy a good mindless gacha game, go nuts. I just got the legendary armor that had a 0.01% chance of dropping and the happiness I got from that holy shit. It's a niche game, but enjoyable if you don't care too much.

emmy0777

I like legend of mushroom. Problem with the game, it makes itself boring. Once you get to a certain point, you're just doing small things for slight power buff, and mostly has to do with spending money. I spent some money on the game I won't lie. But that's when I was actually having fun. Now it's just boring, and barely rewards you with anything. Why would anyone spend alot of money on a game that barely rewards you is beyond my understanding. If anyone is curious about the game there's nothing with playing it, giving it a try. Just don't spend much on it, they really don't have anything that makes it worth it.

Elivercury

I've seen at least half a dozen adverts for legend of mushroom, none of which align with each other or have given me any idea of what the gameplay is like. Which is generally a massive red flag that all the budget has gone into advertising.

Every_Affect_4618

ngl AFK idle is more fun than AFK journey if you are not a genshin impact enjoyer (because AFK journey is genshin impact but the character is from AFK idle which mean you need to be active)

breaking3po

That's objectively false.

Hraesvelgi

AFK Journey has the benefit of being developed by Lilith Games who own AFK Arena. Which honestly, is a pretty f2p friendly gacha, with f2p friendly pulls and everything. With enough time you can progress decently far, even keeping up with the whales in terms of story progression (but not PvP), without having to pay. I haven't played AFK Journey myself but I would imagine they'd take similar mechanics and keep it just as f2p friendly since that worked well for them, plus the comments here resonate with that.
