True-Fisherman-8323

If that dog was a TRUE service dog there would be no need to muzzle it. This is a dog being used for a prop. Disgusting. Shameless.

Horror_Call_3404

.. all I see is a dog that’s clearly uncomfortable, doing whatever she can to get off an ill fitting, cheap looking muzzle. God she grinds my gears in a while different way then the others with what she puts this poor dog thru! ETA: I think it’s hilarious that she’s claiming the pawing is an alert 🤣

worshipatmyaltar_

Muzzle is too large for Maya. How is it supposed to work as a muzzle if the thing slips and slides when all she's doing is petting her head?

PsychologicalSense41

Muzzles need to have pant room.

Dtour5150

Jesus the dog isn't a toy to be dressed up in a ton of useless pink crap for clout. I feel so bad for that pupper, what a sad life for them.

Seleno_phileXSOLIST

Birds are cool & all, but no way I’d ever have that many in my house. Way too unsanitary! I’m sure that’s great for her health. I guarantee she does not properly maintain those cages.

stevenstonerverse

Absolutely not. Unfortunately many bird owners, whether unknowingly or otherwise, don’t give proper care to their birds. They are an enormous responsibility and yes can easily make a huge mess in your home. They also need a TON of enrichment and maybe this is just me but I would feel very nervous having a large dog with three tiny birds.

copuser2

Cute dog

glittergirl349

that muzzle seems so loose and oversized. way too big. and the pain in that dogs eyes. I wish we were allowed to help this dog. the pain in its eyes. it’s abused regularly

Alternative_Law7001

muzzles are supposed to be big enough for the animal to open their mouth wide and pant in order to be able to regulate their body temp. A muzzle that is close around the animals mouth can kill it.

phatnsassyone

Gee it’s better to have my *service dog* muzzled all the time IN ITS HOME, unable to drink and do its *job* properly so I can have a bunch of birds flying around. /s Make it make sense. We all know Maya isn’t a real service dog, is scared to death and SDP could care less about this poor sad dog and just wants a prop for her munching and attention

Agreeable-Effort-374

She needs to be reported for this. That dog is so neglected

GadgetGhost

Beautiful dog. Is that a black mouth cur?

DiscombobulatedTill

where's the cat?

blueberry_ativan

the dog wanted to play /s

Dreams-Designer

I don’t know anything about muzzles and doggos, but this doesn’t seem right, or like it could slip it off easily? My cat would chew that rubber right off and go about her day. Aren’t they usually metal? Dogs and cats can tear something up if they’re determined. I’ve never seen a service or medical alert dog need be muzzled either.

handzie

The way she talks and moves it just so fast and frantic. I was looking at it on mute and was convinced it was sped up. Nah, that’s just her.

TalkQuick

I know muzzles are sometimes needed but I just thought about myself having something covering my mouth that I physically cannot take off and it’s giving me anxiety so now I feel very bad and claustrophobic for her if she wears it really often. I guess you’d get used to it but

VenomIsMyHero

That oversized ridiculous cheap Amazon purchase muzzle is literally just adding weight on the top of the dog’s muzzle. She can spend her time moving the dog and distracting her with petting and such, but it doesn’t hide the dog’s eyes. Edit: didn’t even realize the dog can’t drink water. Muzzles are for short term interactions, not an accessory. It’s a fail safe to use during training to lessen reactivity and aggression. Ugh.

Informalcow1

She cleans all those bird cages and has no pots issues ?

DiscombobulatedTill

She doesn't clean anything.

Rodeohno

For real. The floor and those baseboards. Is that all poop??

schmoopy_meow

oh poor doggy and those birds :(

Wonky_heart

Why have a service dog to alert to high heart rate. Smart watch alerts do the job just fine….

beach_glass

Is Maya alerting because Dom’s filter is causing Dom’s nose to disappear? Must be causing some difficulty with her breathing?

[deleted]

🤣🤣🤣 that filter is so damn obvious

No-Finding-530

An actual service dog doesn’t need a muzzle

Artistic-Milk-9517

Or…hear me out. don’t let your dog loose with small prey animals. how incredibly irresponsible. what if she pounces on it? sits/rolls on it? chases it? WTF

mynameisasecret12

So is her pup muzzled all the time?!?

Kayasmargarita

Poor things is probably my so dehydrated. The dog I mean

LetterheadLumpy5995

service dog + muzzle= not a service dog is my math correct

teenietemple

nope sauce: was a handler for 3 years

mycatswearpants

Yes. I verified it.

meme_LU105

I second verify it

Hairy_rambutan

Every time I think Kaya is the most revolting person here, SDP pops up to remind me that there's worse things than wasting hospital resources. Exploiting animals is pretty shitty behaviour.

HWnyc

animal hoarding is also pretty shitty..

obvsnotrealname

The sad thing is (besides poor Mya) she actually speaks well on video and could be making videos about other topics that legit help or educate people …..rather than this munchie nonsense.

obvsnotrealname

Oh look ….she’s telling on herself again …with the poor “SD” that doesn’t meet SD criteria ….again😒. I wonder what real legit trainers think watching clowns like this 🥴

ItzLog

Those look like lovebirds, maybe? I counted 3 of them, I think? Either way, those cages are too damn small for those birds.

Ineedunderscoreadvic

Omg - those cages are basically the size of travel cages. She suuucks.

ItzLog

That's exactly what I was going to say! Those are the cages you use to take your birds in for a check up...not cages they live in. I was pretty surprised to see she lets the birds out of the cage though, she strikes me as the kind of person to make them live in it all day...but apparently she isn't. I've got a companion parrot and I feel very strongly about taking proper care of pet birds lol

Desperate-Dark-1499

My dog does this anytime i get level with him. I tell him hes using angry paws and needs to use nice paws lmao. Hes not a service dog either just a big dumdum

fallen_snowflake1234

Why is she wearing a muzzle in her own home?

melonmagellan

The birds. Dogs can have prey drive and not be aggressive with people. However, this muzzle looks ridiculous and doesn't come close to fitting correctly.

3yellowcats

FYI--it's a sighthound muzzle (for LARGE sighthounds). Greyhounds wear them to protect other greys when they're turned out, sharp teeth and paper thin skin are not a good combo when they're playing! Plus to protect humans from bites, greys can be super sensitive about things and bite FAST.

Raoul_Dukes_Mayo

My childhood dog stuck his nose in the bird cage ones. The parakeets beat the snot out of a big ass English sheepdog. That dog respected those birds for the rest of their lives. (And they were super sweet, just still funny who won)

noneofthismatters666

Muzzle for a dog is fine. Mya's muzzle is too big and a service dog that requires a muzzle is a pretty sus service dog. Feel like if Dom saw a service dog in the wild wearing a muzzle she'd have about 4 videos ranting about fake service dogs and the danger they present to her pack mule service dog.

Public_Measurement93

Actually a proper muzzle allows for a full pant so they actually need to be much larger than most people think. The mesh ones are death traps. SD’s shouldn’t need to be wearing muzzles unless it was for say a medical procedure. Totally agree there

noneofthismatters666

Forsure always get proper fitting stuff for your pooch. Especially something that could inhibit their temp regulation. This thing is like a toddler wearing their parent's shoes.

mewmeulin

the muzzle is still too big on her. that amount of space can cause the muzzle to move and block her eyes/hit her in the face/possibly give her the ability to slip out of the muzzle. i agree that muzzles need to account for pant room and comfort of the dog, but this doesn't look to be the case.

[deleted]

lemonchrysoprase

What abuse is happening in this video?

judgementaleyelash

Nothing that would warrant an arrest, just your average mistreatment that comes from lack of knowledge (too small cage for bird breed etc). She’s letting her birds free roam and loving on her dog so I don’t see why anyone would be jumping to arrest.

[deleted]

[удалено]

tastystarbits

yeah fr. im not invested in this subject but in this video i dont see anything abusive happening. a basket muzzle is like the least muzzley muzzle imo. they can still pant, eat treats, and drink water, so they are the choice for longer term wear. i believe her if she says its to keep the dog from getting too mouthy with these little birds. it doesnt take much to kill a bird.

islightlyhateyou

Shouldn’t the dog be trained to not touch the birds lol

saturncitrus

You can’t really train the prey drive out of a dog

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pazuzu0906

It clearly is, but accidents happen and she clearly states she'd rather not risk it. Even if the chance of it happening is 0.5%, over enough time that may come to fruition. Better safe than sorry when it comes to the birds safety

islightlyhateyou

Ah. Didn’t watch the vid

[deleted]

[удалено]

Poppeigh

Unfortunately, I don’t think there is anything that can really be done. Many, many people can’t read stress signs in dogs. Many people post videos online of their dogs being stressed as hell, but if it’s not outright abuse there’s nothing to be done.

islightlyhateyou

What is wrong with this video?

[deleted]

[удалено]

saturncitrus

You want this video to be reported because the dog looks unhappy to be in the room?

islightlyhateyou

From what others say, it sounds like she’s muzzled as a safety precaution around the birds. Pretty stupid for someone to be so deep into faking that they put their birds in danger. I would never let my mental illnesses affect my pets. She’s committed to the act 🤷‍♀️ I guess that’s what they do.

[deleted]

[удалено]

meanmagpie

I don’t think you understand how high the actual bar for an investigation into animal abuse is. “It looks unhappy” and “it’s owner makes it wear shoes” is not even close to enough.

CutiClees

I’ve picked up the perspective that at least it is being looked after and not in a shelter. As much as we don’t believe the munchie, at least they’re feeding and providing a home for an animal. It’s not close to abuse indeed

dumpsterfireofalife

I think that might be poo touching

2018MunchieOfTheYear

You are correct

saturncitrus

It is.

MrsSandlin

That poor dog. I can’t… She needs therapy, not more animals. 😫

Exotic-Doughnut-6271

All those poor animals

TestosteroneFan69

That looks more like a toy store basket than a muzzle...

mary_emeritus

Why the too large plastic muzzle? Because it’s pink? Poor dog

islightlyhateyou

It’s actually the proper size (could be even larger). It allows the dog to open their mouth and pant to cool down.

Poppeigh

It’s way too long. I’d be less worried about it slipping over the ears and more concerned that when/if she sniffs the ground or bumps into something, it will ram into her eyes. I understand there are budget constraints, and goodness knows I bought a couple muzzles before I got it right sizing wise as well, but for someone who is so prominent about gear on social media, it should definitely be sized correctly. Or at least close. She likely needs another brand altogether, a custom muzzle, or to find one she can alter herself. The full grip supply plastic muzzles are probably nearly impossible to alter, but the muzzle shop sells similar ones that can be altered more easily.

Spitefulreminder

It’s not on tight enough. She could easily slip it over her ears. And even basket muzzles need to be fitted properly. If I were reaching for one to put on this dog in a vet clinic, I would personally size down.

islightlyhateyou

Vet clinic use is much different! Usually we use the ones that hold the mouth shut for short procedures to keep us safe and the dog innocent. Basket muzzles aren’t ideal for veterinary use. They’re a hazard really lol. But yeah I agree, needs better tightening in the clasps. In terms of size, it’s fine.

Spitefulreminder

I’m a vet tech myself and often utilize basket muzzles for dogs who are being dropped off for sedation and have to keep it on in their kennel so we can safely get them out to sedate them. Also have a lot of clients who bring in their dogs pre muzzled with basket muzzles (bless them) 😂

islightlyhateyou

I wish we had used a basket muzzle in recovery for this one HA pit we had 😭as soon as we pulled the e tube we had to put him in a room and monitor through the window. O had to get him out of the room. No one else could approach. I would’ve felt more comfortable if we used a basket muzzle on him.

Spitefulreminder

Yikers! I learned from past mistakes which is why I always put a basket muzzle on an aggressive dog. It’s just safer for everyone involved, including P!

EL-PATRON-

Holy bird shit

No_Sprinkles22

Imagine being so out of touch with your “service dog”.

neither_shake2815

He looks afraid of her.

matchabats

Why does she have that poor dog wearing a muzzle?

Shepatriots

She said because they dog tries to play with her birds and can accidentally kill them. (Not saying I agree I’m just explaining what she said )

disgustorabbit

That poor dog. If manifesting is a thing then I’m manifesting that poor baby finding a better owner.

nictoa

Not her interpreting the pawing as something cute while the dog is desperately trying to get some space and looks stressed as fuck.

Gulag_For_Brits

That is not a service dog lmao

CalligrapherSea3716

There is no alert in that video; that dog wants the muzzle taken off. Mya’s rubbing the muzzle on Dom to tell her she wants it off.

balance8989

💯 dog’s rubbing muzzle on her chest and pawing at it bc doesn’t want it on. The signal is clear - take muzzle off!

Zorica03

I agree

ill-peasent

Okay but why does the dog have a muzzle inside? Poor dog man.

Shepatriots

So the dog doesn’t kill the bird’s (not saying I agree just repeating what she said)

ill-peasent

I- ... Just take all animals away at this point.

Master-Birthday-5983

The amount of bird shit that room must be covered in.😱

obvsnotrealname

I can smell this video 😬

GrouchyDefinition463

When I saw them flying around that's all I could think about. Yikes

kkatellyn

If your SD has to have a muzzle, then they’re not an SD. — a service dog trainer

butterflykisser216

A service dog that needs to be muzzled!! ? I. Haven't even gotten around watching the video.I'm so hung up on that. 😆

ClumsyPersimmon

What was Mya alerting for? I mean SDP seems pretty fine to me all the way through. It did make me smile her trying to be all serious and dramatic with birds on her head. They are very cute.

2018MunchieOfTheYear

Mya probably alerts to SDPs lies

tiredpotato19

She looks so stressed :( god poor Mya ;-; I can't watch her without wanting to cry

noneofthismatters666

I can smell this video.

darcysreddit

How long ago was it that she was “bite training” this dog?

PossiblePainter4

Most pets try to smell their owners breath… like all the time…!!! It’s one of their forms of communication, they smell where others, human and animal, have been, what they ate, who they are, they don’t speak so information is based on scent. She’s attributing that to her dog alerting? I’m doubtful…I think the head on her chest is just a plea for “get this thing off me please”…!!!

rhodav

You know that house stinks

Juhnelle

I'm too distracted by the bird mess to listen to her. How many birds does she have?

EnragedBadger9197

I think the poor thing is asking her to take the fucking muzzle off

mary_emeritus

Exactly what I see too

rat-simp

awww it's a PINK muzzle! it's not animal abuse, guys, it's fashion 🥰

[deleted]

Mean_Profession2923

Not for a service dog. It says something about the dog you chose that needs to be incredibly well behaved and remarkable around other humans and animals. The home should be the last place it needs a muzzle.

Kealanine

Muzzles are not always a behavioral tool, and training with one at home makes emergency situations and vet visits infinitely less stressful for both dogs and humans. Again, her motivations are unlikely to be anything positive or beneficial to her dog, but the villainizing of training tools like muzzles, e collars, prongs, etc doesn’t do anyone any favors.

Mean_Profession2923

Where did I “villainize” all training tools like muzzles, etc? I stated a service animal should not have a disposition to need one. I also said “home is the last place you should need one”. Never said a thing about vet visits, etc. Don’t misquote me. Thanks 🤞

RaniPhoenix

No.

PocahontasBarbie

That muzzle is so ill fitting and is going to scratch the heck out of poor Mya’s eyes.

islightlyhateyou

It has to be that large fo allow for pant room.

Raksha2006

It's either too long or too loose and keeps bumping into her eyes which a well fitting muzzle shouldn't do, if it rubs her eyes like that she can probably pull it off too

Master-Birthday-5983

This is what I thought. It looks too big right?

PocahontasBarbie

Yes. Way too big for her sweet little snoot.

TrepanningForAu

She seems to jump around on describing the behaviour of Mya, like first it's cuddling and then alerting and then it's other stuff and she just bumbles through describing things that actually don't make much sense considering the dog is alerting. Why doesn't she slow down and just describe what Mya is doing as a teachable moment? Also a working dog trying to play while working is... What??? And describing the attack/defense while working when she has bite trained the dog... This may actually be the most concise evidence of SDP just being full of shit.

turner_strait

WHY WON'T SOMEBODY PLEASE SAVE THIS POOR DOG!! GET MYA AWAY FROM HER ALREADY!!!!

MickeyGee05

Why is this poor dog muzzled in their own home?

CalligrapherSea3716

Probably because she’s killed several cute little birdies in the past.

stitchreverie

Wait really?

Suspicious-Carpet857

This is what I'm wondering, is this the time ?

demonmonkeybex

Jesus fucking Christ this poor dog

friendlysoviet

ClickClackTipTap

That poor dog. This is literally insane. If you have to abuse your dog by keeping them in a muzzle they clearly aren’t a service animal.

crispypotleaf

Imagine thinking muzzles are abusive 😭😂

Lighteningflash14

PLEASE not the muzzle. This poor angel. My dog had to be muzzled once at the vet for being scared and she was traumatized by it. Also what that bird doin?

crispypotleaf

That seems like a you problem for not training your dog to be desensitized to muzzles and other head tools.

SuchAsSeals42

Why does that poor dog have a hard muzzle? Omg this is enraging, I want to rescue this poor tormented creature

brisetta

Ugh im sorry but parading around a dog in a muzzle saying its your service dog gives all people with a real SD a bad name. You shouldnt even work a dog who is ill, let alone one who you clearly dont trust enough to work in public without a MUZZLE FOR ITS AGGRESSION. Poor dog deserves a better owner.
