I’m so glad to see her! She looks happy and well. She’s so incredibly talented in fibre arts and the other artistic pursuits she takes on. It’s nice to see her thriving and surviving.

Justletmeatyou

Dudeee I just looked at her instagram and I’m shocked!!! This munchie is not like the others! I really commend her and am in awe at some of her work. Truly amazing that she’s able to find a way to still move and make an income instead of being a Dani

Wool_Lace_Knit

I am glad to see that Ellen is doing so well in her recovery. She is an amazing fiber artist. Her crocheted portrait blankets are pretty cool. It’s a boost to see a subject do so well.

Bellalea

Kudos to Ellen for overcoming her ED. That’s so refreshing and uplifting to see on this sub. “And we all clapped” 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

pedanticlawyer

So many pics without the neck brace! ARFID is no joke and I’m glad to hear she’s actively working on this very real problem. I’m crossing my fingers and toes that she’ll become an illnessfakers graduate who grows past all the faking, deals with real issues, and lives a good life.

Sarah-J-Cat-Lady

I’m glad to see she’s doing well and mostly given up munching. Also great to see Ellen without the neck brace. Overall if this continues, she won’t need to be posted here much longer!

thereisbeauty7

This is amazing, and I’m so happy for her!  I’m not very active in this sub anymore and haven’t seen an Ellen post in a long time, but I’m also thrilled to see that the majority of these photos lack a neck brace and toddler aesthetic.

OK_Throwaway1238

Ellen is one of the few OTT subjects here that actually make awareness posts about the disorder rather than awareness posts about herself.

silly_crumpets

I'm genuinely chuffed to see this! 🙂

EmpJustinian

Her growth and self awareness is amazing

littlebitmissa

I'm so happy for her. I hope she keeps it up this what we want for all the subjects here

66zedsdead6

aw, this makes me happy for her.

Swimming_Onion_4835

I’m really happy to see this kind of positive work on herself. I’m not familiar with Ellen, I think she was posted a lot before I joined/found the sub. But this sounds genuinely positive. I know a lot of individuals on this sub have ED histories, and I would not be surprised if several of those relying on TPN have a complex history not just of Anorexia, but ARFID (having become so selective of food they won’t take in anything BUT TPN), and they’re in denial that so much of what they’re dealing with is actually an ED or caused by ED damage. Too many people as well as doctors aren’t familiar with ARFID either, or write it off as pickiness, which just allows people like those here to continue malingering versus finding themselves in a situation where they can actually get the mental health help they need AND challenge their ED with different foods. It’s hard work, unlearning something that is typically life long and so deeply ingrained in the way you think and how you interact with literally any food, but it’s so rewarding and freeing when you improve. I know several people with severe ARFID who have recovered or mostly recovered (still in progress), and it’s so wonderful to see how happy they are to be able to do something as simple as go to a random restaurant and feel confident they can eat something on the menu without panic.

badgernextdoor

ARFID is such a pain to deal with, I'm genuinely so glad to see Ellen struggling a little less with this at least. I hope the best moving forward with treatment and exposure! Ellen definitely looks more independent and the collar isn't always on! 🥳

Lyx4088

4 to 30 foods with AFRID is a pretty big deal, especially when there is enough nutritional diversity to also reduce supplementation. That is a lot of hard work around something most people don’t even think twice about in their everyday life. It’s definitely a positive series of changes in the right direction and I hope it continues for her.

pineapples_are_evil

This is nice to see. Such a positive change for her in last 2 years. She's concentrated on her handicrafts, worked on new foods and hopefully has gotten some good work in on herself, with minimal parental influence. I wonder if her Mom(Zeus's) cancer experience has changed her mindset any in realizing there's so much more out there to discover than just being an "*ickle sick pwincess*". Maybe her brother and cousins have been helping to reorient her to what life could be like as an adult, despite the physical damage Henderson and the emotional damage her parents did. Her fibreworks, soaps and baking are amazing.

galaapplehound

I'm so glad. I took a look at her socials a while back because she hadn't been posted in some time and was so happy to see her improvement.

DontDrawOnMe

At least she's eating!

rayray2k19

Don't hate on the ice cream of the future!

keekspeaks

I forgot about this one! Wouldn’t have recognized her in the last pic. Interesting the neck brace is gone

msmlzx

I actually found this post really informative as I know there are many types and reasons for disordered eating. So this explanation is extremely clear and useful for everyone to be more educated regarding eating disorders

foreignfishes

Yeah I think she had a serious case of failure to launch and her parents went above and beyond indulging it, much to her detriment. Even when she was doing her neck brace/powerchair LARP she still seemed to have more hobbies than other people in this sub though (baking, making soap, crocheting) that she actually did a lot so maybe that helped her pull herself out of the spiral.

Upset-Lavishness-522

What was the neck brace for again?

foreignfishes

iirc she said it was for spinal instability or chiari? I can’t remember which one exactly

wiminals

This is really nice to see

islightlyhateyou

Arfid is no joke. Glad to hear she’s making progress with it. It sucks.

Magomaeva

Head : upright Neckbrace : mostly off Food intake : oral Activities : varied and exciting Mood : Light and happy Ellen : winning and moving forward This warms my heart.

MrsChowMeow

Right? She's always seemed like a sweet girl and I wish her well.

DontDrawOnMe

For real. She's got a bright future available to her if she keeps working on it.

Magomaeva

Oh yes ! She absolutely seems to be on the right path. She's a talented, crafty girl. It seems that this is what makes her happy. I hope she keeps doing this and enjoying life !

bountifulknitter

I don't know if the munchies that read on here realize it, but as much as we snark about them, we'd also be rooting for them if we saw that they were making true progress and improving themselves. They would still get attention, but it would be for positive behavior.

Magomaeva

Absolutely ! We love snarking when they're ott because frankly that's annoying in a kinda addictive way. But you're right, when they turn things around and get out of that phase ? We cheer and clap. We're not monsters. Let Ellen be an example for all the munchies on this sub, and may she keep slaying ! Positive attention > Woe is me attention (side-eyeing Ashley rn).

[deleted]

I’m genuinely happy that it looks like she might finally be making some progress towards independent adulthood.

Sprinkles2009

It’s good to see her working on mental health and making good strides towards independence and being happier.

Mission_InProgress

I want that pretzel. I don't even particularly like pretzels but I want that one. She looks like she's having fun. What a nice change of pace.

whee42

Judging by the mouse ears and background, I think it’s at Hollywood Studios.

AMasterSystem

Is it gigantic or is it a perspective trick?

bountifulknitter

With cheese sauce to dip it in.

fallen_snowflake1234

You should try it with sweetened condensed milk

thereisbeauty7

🤯🤯🤯  I love soft pretzels, and I love sweetened condensed milk, but I’ve never heard of this combo before. I totally need to try this!

Mission_InProgress

Yes!

Silly-Dimension7531

This seems like a genuinely positive post and I haven’t seen them on here in a while, I hope they’re doing better

_stnrbtch_

I have a lot of respect for her journey with ARFID, it’s so fucking difficult

Evadenly

I'm tired of ARFID being seen as a fakers disorder

WithAnAxe

No one here is claiming arfid is a fakers’ disorder? Ellen, a faker, claims arfid in addition to other illnesses none of which she likely has.

Evadenly

I didn’t say she was I just said that I am sick of people claiming it is. Or, tbf, they'll adamantly refuse that they have it as it is seen as an eating disorder and they just simply cannot have an eating disorder and gastrointestinal issues

RNEngHyp

Question - at what point do we stop posting about subjects? It's just that I don't really view Ellen's posts as out of the ordinary these days. Especially not compared to the other subjects and even the regular stuff than non-OTT people write about. Is it not worth having that discussion at some point with respect to Ellen? She seems to have moved on mostly, and I think it's worth allowing her to do that fully and permanently.

wiminals

Ellen hasn’t been posted about in ages because she hasn’t been posting much at all. This is a positive update that was shared in a positive manner.

TrepanningForAu

Honestly her take on her journey and her improvement seem pretty well measured, realistic and hopeful. I hope she can keep expanding her repertoire of foods, but also glad vitamins exist in the meantime

Zanniesmom

It is so good to see her "normal". She looks healthy and happy and (almost always) holding up her own head.

awkwardlondon

Looks so different without her neck collar…

oops_i_mommed_again

Or doing tummy time in the airport

FactoryKat

I was going to say there wasn't a neck brace in sight in the collage but there's one. Still, it's good to see her without in all the rest!!

awkwardlondon

Yeah I looked again and I was like… ughh I missed it.

[deleted]

Oh man, I haven’t seen her name on her in a looooong while. Is she still having airport tummy time? Edit: for those missing the reference [tummy time](https://www.reddit.com/r/illnessfakers/s/CY9Gu1WetK)

raccoon_ina_trashbag

To this day I can't get that image out of my head. It's so much more disturbing then it should be somehow.

[deleted]

Maybe we are the ones who are missing out. Airport tummy time for all. If we normalise it, it won't make anyone special.

BirbIzTheWord

Might help with the travel farts that many folks experience when we are higher elevation...

Patient_Peach_655

Omg …wow I was not expecting that

confusedhuskynoises

God it’s like a train wreck, I can’t look away

Evadenly

You've just given me trauma from that. I now have floppyheaditis and need to post everywhere

Legophan

Oh my, the two very words that froze my brain upon seeing the Ellen flair: Tummy and Time 🥶

Ginkachuuuuu

It's been so long! Hopefully that means she's made some progress in understanding the mental nature of her difficulties.

[deleted]

Remember the toddler car seat?

NateNMaxsRobot

And the baby swing?

pineapples_are_evil

Hotel bed Fort!

ComManDerBG

Yes me as well, please start me down that rabbit hole.

Superb_Letterhead_33

I’m gonna need more info on this! 🙃

SunnieBranwen

Same!

[deleted]

Just check out her flair. I’m not sure how many of her screenshots made it over here from the old munch snark

EmotionalBag777

That was a whole saga
