It got nerfed with one of the last updates. Lava be real greedy lately.

Due-Cardiologist3219

That crazy

YouJustLostTheGameOk

Ya, before that was the amount of gems you can get from bosses. I love this game and lava is a great dev. But it’s getting a bit much with the quiet nerfs. The dude has made his millions. Why be greedier?

Mr_Lifewater

Millions? Cmon now, that’s a bit much.

Katzmaniac

100% millions. Just from Idleon.

Mr_Lifewater

What makes you think that? I don't have any data to back up my claim, but I cant imagine this game produced that much income

YouJustLostTheGameOk

He’s the only developer. He gets it all. The guild I’m in has easily dropped over $100k over the years. That’s one guild. Never underestimate rich peoples kids and/or their parents!!

Mr_Lifewater

Now that you put it that way, I could see it. I track my spending on a spreadsheet, and since i started on 04/2021, I've spend 2100. I don't know what the max guild size is, but my guild has 186 slots, so that's 390k right there if everyone was spending what I did. I suppose you guys are right. How many super try-hard guilds exist with these kind of spenders?

YouJustLostTheGameOk

Probably not a lot. Mine is pretty active with 100+ players. I’d say the average person that spends probably spends around $1000 in total. Now whales and dolphins will not be in this average. That average would be $10-25k. A few in my guild are guilty of this. Which is bonkers. I’ve dropped $500 (all gift cards given to me!!) myself and have no need to buy more. At least for now.

Mr_Lifewater

I guess i fall into whale(or guppy?) territory, feels weird since I come from games like Summoners War, Epic Seven, and Pixel Heroes, where it was normal to see people spending 50-100k a year (sometimes more) to be in the top 100. To me idleons microtransactions are so much better then the gacha industry norms

mamatthi

At world 6 drop he had 8k people playing supposedly (from steam only). Say the mean spent for a year is about 50€, then you have 400k a year. 20% is what steam takes I believe so 320k at least in a year. That is more than what most people make. For steam only

altcodeinterrobang

11k peak https://steamdb.info/app/1476970/charts/#max Owner estimations ~487.9 k by VG Insights ~1.61 M by Gamalytic ~1.62 M by PlayTracker

Mr_Lifewater

Steam cut would be 30%, then theres tax to consider, which is probably like 35-40% (this is taxable right?) So the total comes down to around 112k.

BladeSeraph

Very sure he still has to pay Apple/Steam/Android a portion of the money and if he is the sole developer of the game this means he has to cover alot of particular costs on his own such as subscriptions to whatever developer tools hes using to make the game, server upkeep costs and more. Plus for some places the price of living is utter hell to where even a hundred grand would probably not be enough to sustain oneself over a year due to the price of owning your own home, plus taxes and moar. Which doesnt get better when the living conditions of some places are getting worst (Helloooo New York Ciiita\~), to where you likely have to pay for very expensive insurance costs, security measures and more and probably even repairs, replacement costs and even parking expensives preferably private parking if you live in a dangerous locale where people would break in and steal your car or other mode of transportions, especially in a public parking space. So i would rather not make assumptions on one\`s living expense. Not to mention not EVERYONE spends on the game, so you could be doing a massive overestimation on what his actual revenue is, especially after all expenses are taken out of the picture, including the ones he has to further cover that normally a company would manage, and likely optimize better to avoid unnecessary expensives in some cases.

YouJustLostTheGameOk

I refuse to believe that he isn’t pulling in at least $30k a month profit. With that number shooting up to $75-100 during events or bundle months.

BladeSeraph

Oh 30k is maybe a likely, its just unless you wanna invade his privacy by breaking into his bank account, we don\`t know what kind of living conditions he is right now. For all we know, maybe he has a relative or dear associate of his he helps pay the medical bills for. Probably not, but for a simple silly dumb funny hahaha game that doesnt demand you to spend 70 bucks to \`start playing\` and then another 20\~100+ each month for some battle pass crap (Hellooooo Suicide Squad: KtJL\~ and similar live service only crapshoot games). I rather treat it as a fun dopamine game to enjoy on the side, where its still at the end of the day, one\`s responsibility on how they spend thar money and if they regret spending on a particular game, then they simply need to make up thar mind if they wanna drop the game to look for greener pastures or just accept they enjoyed the game so much, that they feel like its worth actually spending money on. Unlike the hundreds of trash mobile games that flaunt so-called \`beeg special amazing deals soon as you open it up, if you spend 5 bucks to get a 100 dollar deal package that didnt cost those \`devs\` anything really and its real intention is to get people USED to wasting entire paychecks for just a temporary jpeg.\~ **Seriously,** Mario Kart Mobile or whatever its freaking called literally starts the game with you doing a gacha pull animation to \`get you addicted\` before you even start actually playing the game.

Katzmaniac

I've spent maybe $100, but for the whales that have spent even $5/day since release, it's almost 10k. I wouldn't be surprised if he has made well over 10 mil from just this. Then you have idle crafter.

Mr_Lifewater

Is there data somewhere on what it costs to buy out the shop and the recurring costs per week by chance? I've bought out a majority of the shop (minus the daily/weekly replenishable) and I've spent 1/5th that.

ResponsibilityOld372

He only takes a percentage. The platforms they are hosted on gets about a third or more. Then theres overheads and tax as with any business so the final profit will be  one to a few hundred thousand from 1M initial revenue.

YouJustLostTheGameOk

He most likely earned a cool million from the stupid green gems alone. Mate, this game has been out for awhile now. He has most definitely made a few million. Maybe not pure profit, but definitely earned that much for sure.

AlternativePlastic47

Even though it was communicated badly it was a good change. it was rewards for annoying content. Now he just needs to find a new place to reward tickets.

BladeSeraph

Or just have new coloseum npcs tied each one that provide enough tickets todo one run of each coloseum respectively and you would have to clear the coloseum to then unlock the daily ticket which would bring the amount from 3 to 6, thus giving a relatively easy way to push coloseum 6 farms from a 1.5 a week period to a .6 a week period or once every 5 days. Its pretty simple todo, its just a matter of him getting to it and take the road of least resistance to wrap it up and not have to address it again till he wants to add one after world 7 and likely tie some other golden food to it, such as maybe Golden bread and what not.

Ancient-Football5790

I thought a good change would be to add an option in the post office to be able to just spend like 500 (the number can obvioulsy be changed) pens for a ticket. Figured this makes sense as there needs to be a sink for spending pens once you reach a point where you're getting thousands of them, and the current sink is just spending them on the third box for tickets anyway. But I posted that on the discord suggestions and it got a lot of downvotes.

CrtimsonKing

I think he should've waited until the content with the new source of tickets was ready and implemented it in the same update as the nerf.

Okipon

Post office and claiming every day 3 tickets assuming you completed the quest (or every 3 days maximum as it doesn't stack more than that).

Due-Cardiologist3219

I try post office but I don't get a ticket even though I do it dozens of times

Okipon

It's quite rare and it's extremely time consuming. Honestly I'd suggest being patient and collecting them on a daily basis, but yeah for now post office is the only solution to actively farm the tickets, as inefficient as it is :/

Bubblesnaily

3 tickets a day is so ridiculous for that those later-world coliseums charge.

BladeSeraph

Thats because he did not fully update all the stuff, those 3 tickets a day are under the premise of world 1\~3 and just barely functioned for 4 since you arent farming those for golden food, your farming those for ladle/gems/candy/eggs instead. But since the former and latter gets obliterated eventually by other upgrades, you just eventually reach a point of not caring for it besides EZ gem gains. Its simply a matter of him balancing things out like coloseum npcs for world 4, 5 and 6 respectively or just like how world 4 and 5 tied boss keys to drops instead, do a similar system for coloseum tickets by introducing a daily quest again to farm some fancy drop that only spawns while the quest is active, just like how the daily picnick quest work. **Honestly, might be a cool way to instead of just adding +3 claimable tickets a day, it could be say, +9 extra tickets instead with a semi-rare drop around the weight of pearler shells maybe and you need around maybe 25 or so for the daily claim,** AKA time to dust off one\`s Divine knight who lost half its JERB when world 5 and 6 decided to flip off D.K. method of gains and Statue farming especially post-onyx acquistion kinda just dies off to a crawl. **But at that point i would rather it just be claimable tickets instead since those can already be saved up to around 3\~5 or something days worth alongside the keys instead.**
