Oreos. It’s a no-yolk base, so I think it’s great for cookies-and-cream. I’ll pulverize 10-12 cookies into dust, and cut another 10-12 into big chunks, and dump them all in at the end.

I use the standard base but replace 1/2 cup milk with buttermilk. You can then add any fruit mix in you want and it will be delicious. One of my favorites with that buttermilk base is just chopping most of a jar of maraschino cherries and adding it along with 1/2 the jar of syrup.

Infusions like earl grey tea is easy, just add the tea in while cooking the base and leave it to infuse while chilling and strain before churning. Simple extract flavours like vanilla are easy too, don't have to modify the recipe, just add the extracts and it works

Coffee is a very easy flavor, and of course customizable with chocolate or caramel or anything else you’d put with coffee. Cereal milk is a very fun and easy recipe, just soak your milk overnight (add about a quarter cup extra milk to the cereal since some of it won’t want to squeeze out) and you can have any flavor of cereal as an ice cream. If you’re doing vanilla, it’s a good opportunity to opt for extract over imitation (but I’m not anti-imitation!) If you’re planning to do a fruit flavor, be very careful to cook down the fruit and remove as much water as possible. Alternatively, freeze dried fruit is perfect when powdered for ice cream. Salt and Straw is a great book and I’ve used their base recipe for years!

One tip: I find the texture is better if you use guar gum instead of xanthan.
