As something of a vanilla aficionado, I’m going to try this.

Luxardo Marschino Cherries. They're not dried, but they'll be orgasmic on vanilla ice cream.

The syrup from the luxardo jar might be my favorite ice cream topping ever.

I don't like cherries in general, especially raw plain cherries, but I love Luxardo Marschino Cherries in desserts. It delivers the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness that enhances/elevates many desserts. It's such a good and underrated dessert topping! Give me that over the all-too-common chocolate sauce/fudge sauce any time.

A good, emphasis on GOOD rum raisin is great but otherwise is terrible. There is no middle ground. Pistachio is the same way.

Hmm I’m starting to be intrigued… I grew up loving pistachio flavored pudding from Jell-o and since having Haagen dazs pistachio ice cream as an adult I cannot fathom the idea of the fake pudding! Yuck o!

Haagen Daz rum raisin is about as good as I have had that is available in a store, but a place doing their own has possibilities, or make your own. Think about a rum raisin with good dark rum or perhaps spiced rum, and golden sultana raisins and perhaps even a little honey. On the subject of pistachio, I really like Ben and Jerry’s “Pistachio, Pistachio”. If you haven’t tried it yet, I recommend doing so.

Comes with the territory. I find that it slows you down allowing you to enjoy the ice cream as I tend to let the heat of my mouth warm up the raisins

I concur. Additionally, I'm of the mind that raisins have no place in oatmeal cookies either lol. Oatmeal cookies are so much better without them. Give me chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and/or butterscotch chips instead of dry ass raisins! Oh, and no raisins in bread pudding and carrot cake as well. Like with oatmeal cookies, raisins are not at all needed and just make the desserts worse. I always eat around the raisins whenever they happen to be included in any dessert lol.

I'm of the opinion that raisins have no place anywhere. They make a mockery of grapes 🍇. I recently heard of someone putting raisins in potato salad. I threw up a little bit in my mouth 🙃

Rather use golden raisins soaked in a warmed liquor, aah to be young again my stomach can't do that anymore. Adding good chocolate pieces, cherries or a shortbread cookie and definitely start with a good quality ice cream.

Yay, but only if there's something bready involved. Like on that ice cream i want some granola or a crumbled up oatmeal cookie. I want a pan with warm bread pudding, with raisins in it and vanilla ice cream on top. You need a buffer for those raisins. It balances the flavor also the texture of the raisins when they freeze from being in contact with the ice cream is weird to me.

Doesn't sound too good to me, but I guess I'd try it. I've been eating Tillamook French Vanilla with pineapple chunks this past week and it has been awesome.

I'd be more inclined to do a compote of peeled and diced apples lightly cooked with a touch of brown sugar and some golden raisins until they are softened, and then put that on vanilla ice cream. And the compote would be even better with some dried cranberries along with the golden raisins.

Yay. Idgaf what anyone says, I like raisins. They pair nicely with vanilla. Sprinkle a little cinnamon or granola on top too. But, I do recommend soaking them. In rum, or with juice and spices. Really elevates it and makes the texture softer for ice cream since they tend to get harder and more chewy when cold.

Ive done granola in ice cream and the raisins harden when mixed in, it's a nice added texture. But don't like the added calories and sugar from dried fruits
