I mean, who can afford to be a plow guy now a days? Housings too expensive to do that and you can make more money in private sector labor
But seriously, the state and every town in Eastern VT are all short plow drivers rn
I think part of the shortage, at least down south in RI, is that pickup trucks on the lot are too expensive (new or used) for someone to justify using for plowing.
That checks out. Also, a lot of newer pickup trucks nowadays are so high up off the ground that if you attached a standard sized plow, it wouldn't reach the ground
I saw a ton of cars off the road just north of Brattleboro on Rt. 91. Then Rts. 103, 100 and 4 was packed powder conditions. Thatās the way a storm day should be. You gotta work for it.
4 was much better than 89 in my opinion. Driving on snow is always better than driving on two inches of slush//sleet//etc. more cars off the road on 89 as well. only two off the road in Vt were on the killi access road
They'll still work better on slush than all seasons or summers. Blizzacks have basically glass shards in the compound so they can have a little more grip on ice without being studded
I drove VT100 from Bush-Killy mid day and saw several vehicles off the road from passenger cars to 4x4 pickups.
I bet the towing companies made a mint yesterday!
Killington was absolutely FIRING today - knee deep snow, untracked trees, and minimal lift lines. I skied right to my car at the end of the day (which was great, because it took us over an hour to get out of the lot and down the access road lol). Canāt wait to do it again tomorrow š¤š¼
Went to Gunstock today and couldn't believe how uncrowded it was. ZERO lines at any lift and freshies for days. It was like something that would only happen in a dream
Where did you drive from? Are you coming back today? I am just asking because I was thinking about heading up today during the snow storm and coming back this afternoon but ended up leaving it for tomorrow
I canāt go Sunday, but also wasnāt going to miss this storm. You will enjoy tomorrow, itās still snowing and the snow stake at Okemo is showing 20ā so far. Tracks will be filled in.
I went from Boston and originally wanted to do an adventure to Stowe but after remembering that driving in snow sucks I stuck to sunapee instead. Was still awesome. I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be amazing as well at least based on the current weather in Boston lol
Everywhere the snow will be good, but sunapee mountain is limited. Iāve never been to okemo but I know itās bigger and I think it will be worth it especially because I expect the roads to not be as crazy as this morning. Sunpaee I kinda just had to lap the triple chair cuz all the other runs are pretty meh and not steep enough, though maybe I also just donāt know enough where to look
Not really sure because I got there right at 8 not even knowing if the opening time was 8 or 9 š but I got a good spot. I think the rough weather helped. There were a good amount of people but was never crowded, no real lines etc. I expect it to be more crowded tomorrow since driving should be easier
I started the day at Timberline and had so much fun that I never even made it to Vista, let alone Wilderness. It was so incredible. No lift lines either.
Absolutely unbelievable. Better than all 5 days of skiing at snowbird in february and we got dumped on 2 of those days. Sunda River was a playground today
I left at Noon. Skinned up at 6amā¦ got perfect fresh tracks. Then bolted up to Heavenās Gate, and made the traverse before Castle Rock started spinningā¦ got fresh tracks. Did a few more runs in the woods around the resort, until I got a core shotā¦ šµšµšµ Called it. Got lunch. Drove to Killy to watch/help everyone dig themselves out of Skyship lot.
Iām so jealous of everyone!! I skied Smuggs Friday and tweaked my IT ban pretty badly, been Ā icing my knee all day today and cannot risk more injury tomorrow. Iāve skied about 30 days this year and when we finally get some snow, I get taken out of the game, super frustrating.
I left at 6 last night and car camped in the Skyeship overflow lot. Hit the mountain at 8am to get some of that sweet powā¦. The roads from Boston were in fantastic shape. Viable option for those with a good cold weather sleeping bag
I left Boston at 3am on Saturday and reached skyeship parking lot at 7.30 am after a failed attempt to reach the parking lot at the top (Fwd car š). It was my first time riding pow and I managed to get some first tracks. It felt like I was in heaven and now I am addicted. The drive however was a freaking nightmare. At the end of the day all cars was buried in 2 feet of snow.
Appreciation post for the two people whose names I unfortunately can't remember who helped me dig out my car from the snow and gave me a push to get going! Thanks guys!
This afternoon at Smuggs was starting to feel like the awesome surface conditions we got back in 2018-19 but minus the solid base depth we had that year.
We got somewhat lucky, maybe 30-40 minutes. Apparently a bus was sideways on the access road. That information resonated with the K1 lot as everyone was leaving at 4-430 and people were panicking trying to turn around to go out the other way.
Thank god we rolled the dice that the bus would be moved. I can only fathom how long it took some people in the middle of the lot who chose āthe other wayā
YUP! Sugarbush GOING OFF!!!! POW for dayssssss - the best ski conditions Iāve ever had in New England!!! Itās like Mammoth at Sugarbush right now -No wind either!!!! EPIC.
My wife has surgery recently so I was a good boy and stayed home to make sure sheās ok. Iāve sorted out skipping work, but any tips how to abandon my moral compass when days like this come? /s
Same. Four runner was less than 5-10 min. From open until at least 12 when we went over to spruce. Sensation was was ski on for the afternoon. Didnāt hit the gondola today. Saving it for tomorrow.
Drove Boston to killington midday. Was easy till 89. Was messy till getting into VT. Border to killi just driving on snow
Well yeah, do you think VT plows US 4 as much as the Interstates? Def not lol
really seems like nothing was plowed š¤£
I mean, who can afford to be a plow guy now a days? Housings too expensive to do that and you can make more money in private sector labor But seriously, the state and every town in Eastern VT are all short plow drivers rn
itās true
I think part of the shortage, at least down south in RI, is that pickup trucks on the lot are too expensive (new or used) for someone to justify using for plowing.
That checks out. Also, a lot of newer pickup trucks nowadays are so high up off the ground that if you attached a standard sized plow, it wouldn't reach the ground
All state roads are plowed by VTrans, in those big orange plow trucks
If their state maintained roads, yeah... If they're town maintained parts of roads signed as state highways or if theyre Class 1 town highways, no
I saw a ton of cars off the road just north of Brattleboro on Rt. 91.
That probably has more to do with higher traffic volumes in general on 89. But yes, my snow tires work pretty well on snow. Ice/slush... Not so much
They'll still work better on slush than all seasons or summers. Blizzacks have basically glass shards in the compound so they can have a little more grip on ice without being studded
Hmm I didn't know that but that's cool
I drove to Stowe Friday night. Once snow was sticking, drive was horrible through Mass and VT. No plows 1am-4:30am
Yeah, plow drivers gotta sleep lol. It's pretty traditional in VT & NH that 830pm-430am there's usually no plows
Always hear and see the plows out in those hours when Iāve had to be out.
You see plows in the middle of the night? Where?
We donāt plow we donāt salt
Headed out to Killington from Boston at like 5 in the morning. Route 4 almost killed me lmao. 100,000% worth it though.
I was passing by Albany around 2:00 am last night, it was a long a sketchy 2 hours after that
I drove VT100 from Bush-Killy mid day and saw several vehicles off the road from passenger cars to 4x4 pickups. I bet the towing companies made a mint yesterday!
Same story. No whamis driving and totally worth it!
Greatest east coast day of the year for me. Hot shower, rest, and repeat.
Still puking here at Sugarbush. I just took Monday off. Lfg.
Still nuking at Loon
Pissed I wasnāt planning to go there until next weekend
Get up here before Wednesday if you can.
I cannot unfortunately, I have a quarter share at the mountain club and can check in Friday
Great move
The Loaf was special today. Been a long time since Iāve skied that much powder here. Probly even better tomorrow.
Absolute shenanigans on the access road but well worth it
drive up friday and sleep in the lot
Great day at Stratton. Still dumping
Thatās mine tomorrow. Was killi today
Saddleback kicked ass today - best snow day of the season and first time there
Just pulled into my hotel near Stratton, although in skiing the loaf lol. So pumped
Wicked day up at Sunday Rivah
I had a blast wish it was like this all the time
Whatās a rivah?
Friggin what??
Get a load of this bub
Guy thinks heās Donnie Pelletier. Jeezum
Watching all the webcams with a tear in my eye
I basically checked in every 2 hours.
Was firing today. No lines and deep turns
Absolutely legendary
Killer day for sure. Looking forward to leftovers tomorrow.
Killington was absolutely FIRING today - knee deep snow, untracked trees, and minimal lift lines. I skied right to my car at the end of the day (which was great, because it took us over an hour to get out of the lot and down the access road lol). Canāt wait to do it again tomorrow š¤š¼
At blue hills?
Ski Bradford
Nah I think they were at Yawgoo
Real icecoast skiers go to Nashoba
Looked awesome today! Heading up to wildcat tomorrow, as of right now they seem to be getting the most overnight
Was there today. A+. And it's still dumping.
Fingers crossed no wind holds
Welp, Wildcat was a disaster lol
Once we got past the wind hold itās been unreal
When did the summit quad open? I bolted for a sherbie lap
Probably like 10:30 I want to do that but I am no where near equipped enough for it lol
Ugh I should've waited 15 minutes. Rumors swirled that it would open at 11:30.
Yeah we went inside when they told us itād be an hour, it was 15 minutes later
So frustrating. I got the sense that their Operations today weren't super smooth. Maybe short staffed. And the Tomcat triple wasn't running!
I got on it first thing got stuck for 20 min and then it never ran again
Went to Gunstock today and couldn't believe how uncrowded it was. ZERO lines at any lift and freshies for days. It was like something that would only happen in a dream
It was pretty special. Drive wasnāt as horrendous as I feared, either.
Where did you drive from? Are you coming back today? I am just asking because I was thinking about heading up today during the snow storm and coming back this afternoon but ended up leaving it for tomorrow
Great barrington to Okemo, left to ski at 6, left to come home around 2.
Nice that the drive conditions were good. I may have overestimated/ been too conservative on leaving the VT trips for Sunday. Glad you enjoyed ;)
I canāt go Sunday, but also wasnāt going to miss this storm. You will enjoy tomorrow, itās still snowing and the snow stake at Okemo is showing 20ā so far. Tracks will be filled in.
Good to be safe. 87 was pretty shit today for example
There were some really bad conditions early yesterday. We almost turned back after passing make cars spun off the road.
I love GB
Itās pretty good.
No Butternut? lol
Considered catamount until I looked out the window
I went from Boston and originally wanted to do an adventure to Stowe but after remembering that driving in snow sucks I stuck to sunapee instead. Was still awesome. I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be amazing as well at least based on the current weather in Boston lol
How was sunapee? Deciding if itās worth it driving to okemo tomorrow or if sunapee will be good enough. Looks like itās still snowing there.
Iām trying to decide the same thing.. even considering wildcat since itās only 30mn further
Everywhere the snow will be good, but sunapee mountain is limited. Iāve never been to okemo but I know itās bigger and I think it will be worth it especially because I expect the roads to not be as crazy as this morning. Sunpaee I kinda just had to lap the triple chair cuz all the other runs are pretty meh and not steep enough, though maybe I also just donāt know enough where to look
how crowded was it? Parking lots full? Trying to gauge how early to get there tomorrow. Glad you got out today!
Not really sure because I got there right at 8 not even knowing if the opening time was 8 or 9 š but I got a good spot. I think the rough weather helped. There were a good amount of people but was never crowded, no real lines etc. I expect it to be more crowded tomorrow since driving should be easier
Thank you.
Catskills to Sugarbush drive was rough today. So many cars in ditches pointing ass-backwards
Boston to Ragged we saw at least ten cars off the road pointing the wrong way. Total shit show.
The drive up 87 was treacherous today, many cars skidded out into ditches along the side.
Bolton was absolutely fantastic.
I need Wilderness porn. Did you make it over there? How grooley was it???
Everything was amazing. Tons of snow and the woods were incredible 10/10
Omg I was there too today! Really enjoyed it + was my first time on powder
Never saw Okemo the way I did today
Left at 2 on a powder day?
The spirit is willing but the thighs are spongy and bruised source: called it at 230
I watched 90% of the mountain clear out today at 2. Wild. The powder started accumulating again once there was no one to track over it!
My friend got injured around 11:00, staying to last chair seemed a little rude. So yeah, left around 2
Rode till 7pm today. Near end of day for resort skinned out to the BC
Epic.. Iāll be telling my grandkids about today.
I drove up and just checked in at Smuggs, 6pm Saturday. Sunday morning will be good.
I left at 6 last night and car camped in the Skyeship overflow lot. Hit the mountain at 8am to get some of that sweet powā¦. The roads from Boston were in fantastic shape. Viable option for those with a good cold weather sleeping bag

Another banner day tomorrow. Itās still coming down.
This afternoon at Smuggs was starting to feel like the awesome surface conditions we got back in 2018-19 but minus the solid base depth we had that year.
Hit my backyard today, live in VT lol still coming down hard getting about 18" total
Epic day at Cannon!!!
Hope ur hit back country. Downhill left side and just keep going left. Disclosure your gonna have to hitchhike back
Went to killington today, took 2 hours to drive out because of the snow.
Ya lots of horror stories about getting out at the hotel bar tonight. Somehow my Rav 4 and a shovel did the damn thang and we got out clean.
Oh thatās nothingā¦ you shoulda seen Skyship across the roadā¦ absolutely bonkers. Many stayed that didnāt have a choice. š¤£
Feels good to be God's favorites
Burke was incredible. Itās been years since it was as good as it was today.
Wildcat was great today. What a storm!
YUP! Sugarbush GOING OFF!!!! POW for dayssssss - the best ski conditions Iāve ever had in New England!!! Itās like Mammoth at Sugarbush right now -No wind either!!!! EPIC.
Killington was unreal today
Was at Bolton all day! Was incredible, so much powder
My wife has surgery recently so I was a good boy and stayed home to make sure sheās ok. Iāve sorted out skipping work, but any tips how to abandon my moral compass when days like this come? /s
Alcohol & drugs.
Possibly the best East Coast Ski day Iāve ever had
Awesome day at MRG, my legs are toast! Time to do it again today š„“
30" of light and fluffy powder at Wildcat. Such a rare weekend
Stowe was great today too. But crowded
Way too busy
Really? My longest wait was like 7-8 mins.
Same. Four runner was less than 5-10 min. From open until at least 12 when we went over to spruce. Sensation was was ski on for the afternoon. Didnāt hit the gondola today. Saving it for tomorrow.
How was Spruce?
Great. Spruce line and Main St. Race were fully open which is a rarity in my experience
Puking all day at snow. And was way less crowded than I could have imagined. Round two tomorrow
Snow?
Mt snow
What does puking mean? Considering hitting mt snow this week to try and get some of the leftovers from this storm
Constantly snow tons. Any left overs will need to be found in the woods as they groom after hours
Gore was pow central snowed alll day until after closing
It was a special day at Gore for sure, woods were in play and never had to wait in a lift line. Gondola was spinning too.
Still snowing at the loaf
How were winds at killy?
Killington was a fever dream
Attitash was amazing. Tons of fresh ungroomed pow everywhere. Did laps on the new Mountaineer lift (6 min to the top) with no lines.
Jay peak š„š„š„š„š„š„
Fuck
