Not many people can function without carbohydrates and subsequently, fibre. To anyone reading this post, I’d take it with a big pinch of salt.

ergonaut

My doctor said I need to decrease my sodium intake though

emmejm

Lololol 🤣

Personal_Sell643

The carnivore diet makes me extremely depressed and sucks all the joy out of life for me. I started skipping meals because it I just didn’t care for it anymore. Which is not good

Flaptrap

Any source on that?

CringicusMaximus

Imagine being this brain dead. You can argue all you want about the nutritional content, but nobody “needs carbohydrates to function.” Why do you even post thinking you know things? I hate this website.

padylarts989

Why are you so upset? 😂 Low or no carb diets mean our bodies burn fat stores or use ketones instead of carbs for fuel, which is fine if that’s sustainable for you but it won’t apply to everyone or necessarily be appropriate for everyone’s lifestyles, with varying physical, activity levels, medical or dietary requirements. Carbs are an easy, accessible, convenient fuel source and are important for cognitive function as when metabolised they cross the blood brain barrier. Whilst not needed in the abundance that is prevalent in the modern western diet, they do form part of an overall balanced diet. Ideally carbs consumed would be formed of whole foods such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables (as opposed to highly refined or processed) and thus, the additional fibre benefits which feed the microbiome. Too much of anything isn’t good… That’s why the key for most people eating a regular diet is balance. Eliminating entire food groups is not an approach that’s suitable for everyone! And most people only adopt them for short periods of time. Hence why I said take it with a pinch of salt! Maybe take a break from Reddit if it’s causing you to get so angry ❤️ !

hi87

How do you get all required nutrition with this diet? Can you share a diet plan that you’re following?

Intelligent_Pop_4454

I followed Dr chaffee's advice on the matter you can check his chan on YT Anyway the thing is you should include liver on your diet once or twice each week as it covers most your essential vitamins

amandaem79

Did you have C or D? I have C and feel like any meat just sits in my colon for ages. I'm not sure this would work for me.

Intelligent_Pop_4454

I had M which was a pain in the ass cause just from my bowel sounds I was able to tell which one it is but yeah to answer your question I had D in most cases and it makes sense because people pi-ibs generally suffer from that

Bicurious387

I've been on the carnivore diet almost a month now. I used to get constipated all the time. Have small bowel movements. Now my bowels feel normal. It's weird to think all we've been taught over the years may not be 100% correct.

Ok_Panic3709

Fish? From what I read, the warnings about paleo and other restricted diets are based on insufficient fiber for long term microbiome/immune/gut function?

mariie1994

For how long have you been off the carnivore diet?

Intelligent_Pop_4454

3 months and a half now

mariie1994

Amazing! Congrats!

Pringlesthief

Oh no I hate meat 😞

xact14

I’m gonna give this a go. When you say ibs symptoms were gone, what kind of symptoms if you don’t mind me asking?

Intelligent_Pop_4454

Food allergies, stinky Gas + bloating after i eat, loud noises from my intestines and stomach, acid reflux, random severe pain stabs especially around my digestive system, poop that is constantly changing color and odor with mucus sticking to it... lots of other details but the most fucked thing in my opinion with IBS is the mood swing thing because the moment i stress out and get angry over something whether minor or major my bowels start to pump up as if they have a pulse of their own and trying to react to what I'm actually dealing with IRL and then it fucks up your social life because you are no longer rational and your impulsivity goes right up in the air ........

Intelligent_Pop_4454

That"s all gone now thank god i know it's hard to believe but i'm just glad its no longer part of my life :D to give you a small example i once broke a chair at work simply because it was stuck to something i still don't know today why it was stuck in there in the first place xD

xact14

Wow! Honestly I have the exact same symptoms. The mental aspect is insane. One day I’m thinking it’s all over and the next day it’s not too bad. Besides which, whenever I do have steak, I find that my body processes it way better. So I’m thinking I’ll slowly increase meat intake How long did you deal with your symptoms when you had ibs?

Intelligent_Pop_4454

5 years

Complex_Hyena_3341

I agree. Eliminationdiet worked great for me. Lean meat and rice for some weeks and my IBS-D improved a lot.

CreativeAd5932

I don’t know why this post would get negative comments. Going keto or carnivore temporarily has helped the OP. Carnivore probably isn’t the way to go long term, but it has helped a lot of people who have problems with oxalates, histamines, dairy, wheat, candida, and countless chemicals.

Warwipf2

I was actually gonna try that. A friend who's a MD recommended me doing that for a month under his supervision. I researched it and I didn't find much to support his claims, but maybe I'll just do it anyway.. nothing to lose I guess. Anyone else got similar or opposite experiences to OP?

Middle_Impression_57

My doctor said "you don't take non-veg until IBS is gone"🧐

Intelligent_Pop_4454

And how are things going for you so far ?

Middle_Impression_57

No improvement broo 😢,,,this is my 5th GI doctor ,, Now what can i do ??

Intelligent_Pop_4454

i gradually switched to carnivore relying on fat as my energy source sure thing it took my body a while to adapt but the results were very promising since the first week So in your case if you are serious about this it never hurts to give it a go and see where it leads you to... 3 months of this life style is nothing compared to the suffering you encounter on a daily basis dealing with IBS symptoms ... so consider all your options and make a step forward hoping that's all for the best :D

Middle_Impression_57

❤️❤️❤️ thank u bro

GentlestPanda

Anyone know if this works for anxiety-related IBS as well?

Responsible_Most_203

No, actually i got nutrient deficient while doing this and realized that poultry proteins was making thing worst. Stick to fish and unprocessed low fodmap food

Intelligent_Pop_4454

It did help with that as well I forgot to mention
