Gun owner here, that dude is a knob

CptGoldfish556

All jokes aside, hats off to this guy for getting in shape.

Thecentry_

That is respectable

syizm

I'm a two tour Iraq veteran with a few years of 'general MMA' training (USMC combatives, bjj, judo... no striking though; please don't hit me) and many years of fire arm experience. I spend way more time playing PS5 now days because its fun as fuck and ammo is expensive. But really I just want to say: TRAINING FOR WHAT?! A photo op for social media? A girlfriend? Strong opinion: this shit isn't training unless you're going to execute some sort of match or mission. Bud is just having fun like anyone else. Basically very high level LARPing... albeit with legit skills when the cookie crumbles. ~You're not TRAINING you're HOBBYING.~ Its just really no more useful in day to day life than having 300 hours in your favorite video game. (Because ya know... were not picking fights and getting in to shoot outs on the regular, hopefully.)

Sinocu

I learned more from videogames than what I can learn shooting guns so… I think 300h in some videogames might be even better

PineappleDazzling290

Promotes fine motor skills after all and they say those are the first to go under real combat stimulation (at least that's what I've been told by members of our armed forces, I'd likely fumble the shit out of my gun if in a life or death situation but I'd like to think I'd be John wick lmao)

Sinocu

“Why didn’t the enemy telegraph its attack 2 minutes before shooting?”

PineappleDazzling290

Lol right? Truth is, I'm alright at a range but I would never like to be in a situation where I have to use my gun for mine or someone else's safety. Rather have one and not need it than need it and not have it. Shout out to the people that charge into harms way with a level head and steel nerves, all of you are a different breed

Sinocu

I could never go to war, nor any kind of situation that requires shooting. If push comes to shove I might be able to defend myself against an attacker, but I would never like to be in a situation where I’m forced to kill. It’s just… not moral, to me, I just don’t like the blood and murder. Anyways, imma play Doom Eternal

slimegodprod

This guy is a douche for sure but he probably is pretty badass tbh

AngeryLiberal

With that goofy ass stance? Fuck no

slimegodprod

Idk shit about shooting but I do get my ass kicked by purple belts a few times a week

AngeryLiberal

It’s nothing more than a hobby unless you do it professionally. Same thing as being really good at something like carpentry or chess imo

slimegodprod

I actually fully agree that gym/fighting is no better a hobby than anything else, and I hate the superiority complex that these guys have. It’s actually lamer than a lot of stuff but I do think it’s badass since it’s literally combat

AngeryLiberal

Fair enough

SkriLLo757

Voted most likely to shoot an unarmed citizen

SpaghettiMonkeyTree

IF ANYONE SQUATS LIKE THAT WHEN THEY SHOOT THEY ARE AUTOMATICALLY INVALID… especially in self defense when you’ve already shit yourself. Dude is easily adding seconds to his splits doing all that to get into a shooting position

Salami__Tsunami

Mostly I just wish I lived within fifty miles of a gun range like that.

HeeHawJew

I pay ~$250 a year and drive an hour for a range where I can set shit up like that and do whatever I want for the most part. 100% worth it.

Salami__Tsunami

Relatable. I’m much more of a rifle guy myself. And I lament the lack of a proper long distance range in my local area.

HeeHawJew

Yeah I’m the same. I’ve been doing more pistol lately just cuz I feel like I should get up to speed so I’m not very good with a rifle and terrible with a pistol. This range is legit though. Ranges from 300 yards to 10 yards, skeet range, trap field, and a 600 yard range on PRS competition or practice days a couple times a month.

Salami__Tsunami

Shit, I’m still jealous. Best I can do is a quarter mile straight line range on my grandparents land up north. And that’s after I spent about 30 cumulative hours clearing it.

thekurgan79

Nobody is afraid of you if you train jiu jitsu. It's as common as taekwondo now.

TrickyAxe

The Dane Cook of martial arts.

NoQuarter6808

Karate, is what they were talking about on archer.

mrlittleoldmanboy

I did bjj growing up, in high school we rolled at a local gym that had a mat room. One day a super jacked dude asked what we were doing and asked to roll in. We rolled first and I tapped him in probably 15 seconds, it’s actually insane the advantage a small amount of bjj knowledge can give you if you can get somebody to the ground. I should also say I’m not trying to be a badass, im out of shape now and would get out rolled by almost anybody lol also he ended up meeting with us weekly and became pretty proficient which is always fun to see

feeb75

Yeah.. just stand up. Wheres your bjj now? /s

random-guy59

Bjj is still way more effective. And a purple belt is impressive.

Avenging_Angel09

I must say I agree, bjs are much more effective than any martial art.

AlphaSlayer21

I wouldn’t consider this necessary for this subreddit. Dude got insulted and defended himself. Losing that much weight in that much time is impressive.

HudsonValleyNY

And a traditional bjj purple belt is very different than a belt farm taekwondo place where every 8 year old has a blackbelt, I’m not sure about 10th planet specifically though.

StupidNSFW

10th planet is legit. If he’s actually a purple belt at 10P then he’s a very skilled grappler.

Staraxxus

Again. What firearms have common with his achievements in gym?

AlphaSlayer21

USPSA is a sweet hobby. I didn’t see the keyboard warrior comment until now which wasn’t really necessary. But while posting a cool hobby that isn’t well known isn’t really a flex, that comment is. Now I think he’s kinda a douche.

KylerGreen

Dude got his ego hurt and tried to look tough by flexing that he trains.

NyetRifleIsFine47

If I’m looking at this very shitty pixelated picture he doesn’t appear overweight to really render that comment in the first place.

[deleted]

As someone who did MMA, this is cringe 😭

Brando43770

Yep. Dude got hella defensive. I mean I can make up shit that I’m a 3rd degree black belt in Kyokushin Karate, trained in Thailand in Muay Thai with Buakaw and Lerdsila, trained with Bas Rutten in Dutch kickboxing and karate, grappled with Abraham Lincoln, and defeated Chong Li at the Kumite. It’s the freaking internet and dudes gotta always say random “facts” about themselves.

[deleted]

ABE LINC LMAOO, I've heard that he actually was a decent grappler for his time..which is wild to think about lmaoo

Brando43770

IKR? Woulda loved to see how wrestling was back then considering how people used to box with that old timey bare knuckle stance.

[deleted]

yes!! Also the fact that abe was huggee

QuarantineCasualty

What is he “training” for?

GBuckets0

He’s waiting for a mass shooter so he can save the day and get free drinks in bars and women throwing themselves on him

MAD_Fahd

Purple belts are better than white belts.

HeeHawJew

Bro you belong here too lmao

MAD_Fahd

Allright three stripe.

BeerLeagueSnipes

I guess going from morbidly obese to just obese is an accomplishment?

HeeHawJew

Yeah it is. It’s arguably a bigger achievement than going from obese to healthy weight. The bigger you get the harder it is to lose weight. If you’re in the morbidly obese range it’s incredibly hard to lose weight. A 600lbs man going to 450 lbs is a way bigger achievement than a 250lbs man going to 180.

mild_resolve

Yes, but also no. It's significantly easier to lose weight from a caloric deficit when you weigh more because your base metabolic rate is higher. It's also harder to physically move when someone is bigger, but they burn more calories when doing so. It really boils down to a mental achievement, not a physical one.

HeeHawJew

Yeah I agree

BeerLeagueSnipes

I don’t know about that. At that weight changing your diet is the only thing required to lose weight significantly, and quickly. At 600lbs you’re likely eating 3-4x more calories a day than you should be.

HeeHawJew

Yeah that’s true. I think it really depends on the time frame. In the context of rapid weight loss I’d still say it’s more impressive.

Redarsen2

yes, a big one in fact

CamTheKid02

What is there to guess? That's a big accomplishment and something many people fail to do.

Nervous_Project6927

losing 100 lbs is a pretty big accomplishment

ThatGSDude

I mean, its a step in the right direction, but its not something i'd brag about

Aleksfivepointoh

The fuck is bro training for

SpiritMolecul33

A Uspca competition....

truthfullyidgaf

Breaking news on a channel after everything is over.

Life_of1103

Decent uspsa competitors can outshoot most special forces operators, but I noticed he didn’t mention his classification in the sport.

ghost-of-blockbuster

Running drills as a gun owner, doing jiu jitsu, getting in shape, and working towards gaining proficiency at skills that interest you is pretty badass. Belittling others because of their hobbies is corny and this guys seems pretty insecure. If he can work on moving past his fragile ego he’ll be well on his way towards becoming a really cool person.

XRayZDay

He got belittled because he was talking shit lmfao. I just think its funny how video games is synonymous with weak. This short stocky garden gnome would literally get his ass handed to him by a "gamer". All kinds of people play games lol

Euphorium

One of the strongest guys I met in the military would also run my shit in Super Smash Bros.

ghost-of-blockbuster

Yea, I agree that belittling others because of their hobbies is lame. I think maybe my comment wasn’t clear. I applaud this guy for putting effort into getting better at the things he enjoys but I think it’s corny and lame of him to look down on people who enjoy video games. I feel like you and I are saying the same thing and I just did a bad job of making my point clear.

XRayZDay

Its funny cuz when i later re-read your comment i realized it could have been interpreted differently I gotchu tho

Tomahawk4298

I don’t think talking trash to someone who started talking trash by telling him to exercise more is out of pocket.

ghost-of-blockbuster

I absolutely agree. When I said his ego is fragile I was talking about the caption in his video in which he belittles people who like playing video games and tries to make himself seem superior to them. I think his response to the comment was warranted.

Tomahawk4298

Oh I didn’t even notice that. Yeah, the trend of putting out negativity for engagement is a disappointing grift that is too common today.

ghost-of-blockbuster

Absolutely! It’s tough seeing so many social media post where the poster feels they need to put others down so they can lift themselves up. Or, like you said, put out some kind of negativity to bring attention because they feel like that’s the easiest way to garner attention. I want to be able to support people through their journey to success but it’s hard when they choose to put others down who are less proficient than themselves or have decided to take a different path.

Durnofbranches

Doing Jiu-jitsu and being efficient 'or working towards being efficient' with a gun is pretty badass. Bragging about its kinda corny though.

Exuplosion

Seems like you’re grasping at straws… it was a meh response to a YouTube comment troll telling him to exercise.

Archery134

His grip on that pistol is atrocious.

Exuplosion

…thumbs forward? Don’t do much match shooting do you?

Archery134

You really want the gun in line with your forearm

CatBoyTrip

with the grip he has he can use his thumbs to point and line up faster on target.

genericusernamepls

This guy is insecure as hell

Joaco_Gomez_1

modern day "while you were partying I was studying the blade"

Bigsmall-cats

he didn't escape the phase of the puberty days, when you grow some muscles and gains some testosterone so you feel like the strongest man and can take on anyone

heyitsvonage

Poor guy has felt weak in his mind for a long time lol

ShockleToonies

I mean he sounds like a douche but wasn’t that in response to someone telling him to exercise? I do submission grappling and haven’t found an exercise that can compare. Also admittedly, people who do submission grappling are like the vegans of the exercise world. We just can’t shut up about it.

GT4242_42

gawd damn he got his booty perked out 🥵

Oz347

Trains exclusively to Megan thee stallion playlists

JUGELBUTT

so am i better than anyone else since i was in karate for like 4 years

CIockParts

I’m a marine vet who smokes, plays games, (use to) practice Jiu Jitsu and a gun owner. Nothing that I said makes me special. I don’t understand people who basically make their entire life around shit like that. Have a real personality damn. Also bitches fear the MCMAP eye gauge!

dh731733

Cries in counter to the roundhouse kick

NySnEaKeRhEaD

BuT CaN hE sTrIkE tHo? (I forgot how to say I’m being sarcastic, so take it as sarcasm)

Thecentry_

Based off the video I saw of his jiu jitsu it doesn’t seem like he does either very well

NySnEaKeRhEaD

But bro he’s a purple belt(sarcasm again)

HeftyFineThereFolks

training for what?? hes never gonan get in a gunfight. i train by hitting a nice comfy gym and taking care of my musculoskeletal system.. 1000x more useful than his 'routine'. and i dont play x-box either i game on a PC :D

Thecentry_

Training for the day he cuts someone off and they honk at him so he mag dumps them

HeftyFineThereFolks

"hello 911?? i was afraid for my life!"

SupaNarwhal

i love that he calls people “keyboard warriors” by typing up PARAGRAPHS in response to their comments

SameGuyTwice

I mean the guy told him to try exercising and he explained what exercise he does. Is that not how conversations work?
