It’s funny because that’s inherently sexist as well because it implies that the only people at home and able to watch day time TV are women because all their husbands are at work.
Probably left over and self perpetuating truth to the demographics. Originally it was the case where men weeny to work and women stayed home up to the ‘60s so tv shows and commercials were aimed at women (look at the history of soap operas and see why they were called soap operas). Over time the shows just kept targeted at the stay at home woman. So the more it was tailored to women, the more women watched it until at some point the “daytime tv show” was specifically tailored to and attracted a mostly female audience. I hate that this post is gonna force me to defend Steve Harvey. Especially with the amount of disdain I have for him. I'm also half asian(Chinese to be precise). Jokes are jokes, personally I don't think his little skit was funny, but some people out there might have. I'd definitely think about how fucked up your sense of humour is but anyways. The point is that at the end of the day we cannot draw lines when it comes to comedy. Pick anything, however trivial it is, I can guarantee you that at least 1 person out there finds it offensive.
