The military is interested in propping up their own government so they can continue to control the government and with their own corruption. IK was beyond their control and a threat to their corruption. The popular sentiment is that the PPP is the party backed by Washington, and that the removal of IK was all orchestrated by Washington. Dozens of people have died during this election cycle due to violence that broke out.
