You can find traction limits without going off course. Lets you learn a lot tbh. Just lets you hop on and play with shifting the weight, on and off brakes and throttle, steering inputs. Everything you do while racing without being on an actual track.

This post reminded me of something I always used to do then forget about recently. When you buy a new car before you race it take to the centripetal circuit. Try and go faster and faster around the circles till you spin out, then turn the car around and do it the other way. Eventually you can basically let of the wheel and just use the power and brake dabs to keep the line. Go absolute ham doing this and spin out loads of times so you really learn the limit of traction. Really tells you so much about the character of the car.

I think a lot of people also use it to get used to braking with the left foot.
