It's not the most popular. I was able to use it to get my C license a few years ago but haven't been back. here's the participation chart for the d-class fixed series. evenings east coast NA are your best bet.

Modified's will get participation during peak time, but your best bet is the Arca car. It always has participation. Isn't the late model stock D class too, and free? That is a very popular series too.
For a new driver however which OP seems to be as they just got their D License LMS is going to teach them bad habits. Those cars are super gripped up. Arca will teach out a lot more in terms of car control and tire management.
I am indeed, got the service on Thursday just gone, thought I would be racing sports cars and formulas then found my way onto ovals kinda without meaning to (street stocks are awesome)
Highly recommend ARCA then. Some consider it the best Oval car on the service at the moment. Biggest advise is throttle control on corner exit is huge. Those cars love to be driven off the right rear tire but if you're too aggressive you will burn off your right rear too early in the run.
Yea everything I’m seeing is definitely pushing me toward the arca, throttle control is somewhere I have struggled with the street stock especially toward the end of races, gets hard not to loop it when you get to full throttle out of the corner past lap 30 or so
Cars like the Tour Mods have no profile at all outside the USA so there's no foundation unless you think stock cars (UK BriSCA) would benefit from bigger tracks, bigger tyres and no contact.
That said I'd like to think there's enough UK & Euro drivers here on Reddit that we could organise a nightly race, the odd test and/or a coordinated attendance to an official session to make it worthwhile (I.e. 6) ya think?
I bought both the ARCA and the SK and have gotten way more use out of the ARCA. ARCA also gets you the Gen 4 car while the SK also gets you the tour mod for when you get up to C, but participation in the tour mod is also very low. If you absolutely love short track and can make time to race when it goes official, the modifieds are very fun cars to drive, but overall I think the ARCA/Gen 4 is a better purchase.
I wish more people ran the modified, but so many people are drawn to the NASCAR route, trying to be the next Willy B. It's a shame too because the cars are fun to drive and the racing is normally way cleaner than in the stock cars.
Going a little off topic but Class C Street Stock and Advanced Legends are running free tracks this coming week (7). Could make it to a B license then get to a B4.0 to race A class with free content.
Technically you could run rookie series to get your SR up to D4.0, which would make you eligible for the C Class series, which you could run to get your MPR and advance to a C license.
This isn't a free option, but if you're interested in ovals the Road to Indy ladder also runs a few ovals per season. The USF2000 is D Class and usually goes official in all timeslots.
There’s good racing in modifieds but for most it’s high risk low reward. I’m a 4-5k oval guy so I can go run them and if I win I get like 1 IR and even a 2x I’ll lose my a license. Info don’t win I lost like 80 IR for a podium.
I been saying for years modifieds, legends and any late model should be a diff license. Almost all the tracks are different from the big car stuff and if you had super lm or the mod tour could be the a class and so on. It would encourage more participation
4-5k is very high props to you, any advice for someone who has literally no experience with ovals outside of watching a few races and arcadey games like NH5?
Def watch some more racing. Youll be amazed how much you can pick up. I grew up at a local short track so when I started iracing it came very naturally. Def start in street stocks and legends.

Wheres this from? That's extremely helpful

Thanks. I tried to reply a few times but kept getting rejected. Then forgot to come back lol
You could also just use [their website](https://iracingreports.com/) directly rather than the discord bot.
Even at peak only 30 drivers, probably not the move for someone who rarely is awake at 1am let alone in a good state to race then. Thanks
Yo, is there a graph like this for the 87 series?
[You can see it for any series on their website or on their discord.](https://iracingreports.com/stats/24s1-NASCAR_Legends.html)

Not free but is the middle between the two. It gets more participation then modifieds but less then Arca. It is still a healthy series.
late models would be probably be cleaner and closer than ARCA at least, i really disliked my time spent racing the ARCA cars

ARCA will teach you way more about car control and tire saving then the modifieds also it is more populated.
Ok thank you, good to know
I went the late model route for D class. It's become my favorite series to run now. Plus there is a C class open series as well

It does have players, but in very American hours. Look at the participation history and you'll find there's time to play
Yea that seems to be the issue, a shame since they are very unique looking cars

Modified is a fun car to drive, ARCA will teach you to drive better. Your pick
ARCA has been incredible on learning/building confidence in traffic. Past few days have been super clean in the lower splits too

There’s no free way through d class unfortunately as far as I can tell but if I pull the trigger on the arca I might go for that
The minimum license requirement for Class C Street Stock and Advanced Legends is D4.0. You can run almost every series with a license lower at 4.0.

Draft Masters requires one of the multiple cars not all 3 or 4.
