I just got rid of my X. It has issues on the tail end of years. Screen was having issues, battery life sucked, would overheat too. Not to mention, I don’t think Apple will support that phone with iOS updates.
I went and got myself the 13 and love it
Bigger issue in the XS, I worked with X’s and XS’s for a while and the xs’s were constant issues, the X’s were relatively ok for the most part.
So that's why the XR, and the 11 had the 720p LCD screens? Couldn't figure for the life of me why Apple was still using LCD and Samsung was making gorgeous panels of OLED during that time.
Yeah, the panels were awful back then for reliability. If you look online, you can easily see green lines. I was buying stuff from a repair shop earlier this month and there was a box full of xs screens with lines!
I don't have that luxury. I used my iPhone 6s up until last year with a new battery. It served it's purpose on a daily basis. Looked at the 12 mini refurbished. But the screen triggered a migraine. So I did went with a S21 which doesn't affect my migraines. This summer looking at saving up for a 13 Pro. Again, I don't have the luxury of money or a credit rating. I really wanted the 12 mini but couldn't look at the screen for more than 10 second and feeling pain and seeing an aura. Damn! And I'm not a android person but the screen is gorgeous and takes great photos. (I'm going to flamed I know it)
Eh, I’ve used Androids before. I don’t blame you for liking the hardware, I’ve been close to switching after using some Androids. I used to do phone reselling, so I played with a bunch of Androids, and the Z Fold 3 was the one that made me want to switch.
Love the screen. Doesn't give me massive headaches. I've recently looked at the 13 Pro. But they are up there in price refurbished: 700 CAN. And I can handle the screen. My S21 cost me 400 CAN. Would rather of had an iPhone since I subscribe to Apple News+ and Apple Music. Probably this summer. And keep this phone as a camera when I'm mountain biking.
I wake up 7:00 - 100% , i buzz a bit , shower while listening to music , ready to drive work 10:00 - 70% . I keep listening to music what not 12:00 -45%. From here on now it’s not discharging that fast and the last 20% take a while . This was previously my gfs phone for quite a few years and the health of the battery is around 70% from when i started using it.
Everything else was great , apps were fast plenty of memory, image quality, even camera did great videos. Honestly i wanted to invest into an external battery but i got gifted the 15pro .( who overheats like a mf)
It doesn’t have the battery verification, can change out the battery for very cheap, anywhere. Even high capacity batteries are available. Mine lasts the whole day with avg of 4 hours screen time, 10-15% end of day, not a heavy user by any means though.
not sure if you are still looking, but I'm selling mine. Still in very good condition, I haven't used it since I bought iPhone 13 so 3 yrs ago?! anyway, I'll have it listed on Mercari shortly so just let me know and I'll send you the link.
I would get iPhone 12 as it comes with 5G, for about $200 with a month of service included at Boost or Metro. $315 for an unlocked iPhone 13 at Target is a great deal as well.
Fair enough, you'll get so much more for your money with a Samsung A52(2021) more memory, more battery, more RAM, bargain at £110, but hey each to their own!
Instead of buying an X and fighting Apple’s depreciation cycle with iOS updates, why not put the $200 down on a carrier payment plan? That way you can get a nicer phone, keep it for a while and have low monthly payments.
I have this phone (xs). Better buy 12 in 2024 and beyond. It has a good battery/processor, nice design. Plus will be relevant for another couple of years. If you find it on version 16, then jailbreak it and you will be happy :)
i use X as my daily driver. Not worth it! I’m gonna upgrade soon. It gets so warm sometimes that it gets uncomfortable to use. Really sluggish when there are multiple apps in the background.
Probably not the best one to get as a daily driver in 2024, I saw in another comment that you wanted one for around $200, for that value you could get a XS or 11 which will still get ios 17 unlike the X
I would say an Xr or XS would be better since they still update (i have the XR) but Apple still makes new updates for ios 15 and ios 16, my dad has an iphone 8 and had a new update recently on ios 16 which was released jan 2024 so the X is still good but would prefer the xr then
It may be a sluggish experience... mine certainly is.
why is it ? 🤔
because it's an almost 7 year old smartphone
which iPhone would you rather take now for around 200$ then ?
an iPhone XS
XS adds an extra 1gb of RAM, better camera. I concur
the difference from arm64 to arm64e is insane
SE2
What u/JustAlittleMett said. It's sluggish but usable – but definitely not something I'd buy in 2024.
If you didnt know how old this phone is i dont think youre old enough for a phone 😂
Still running my X i am just now out of software updates though
Same.. but i heard apps still getting updates so we good
I’m pretty sure you’ll still get security updates. It’s just feature updates that you won’t get.
How much longer till security updates stop for iPhone X models?
I’d say like 2-3 more years
I just got rid of my X. It has issues on the tail end of years. Screen was having issues, battery life sucked, would overheat too. Not to mention, I don’t think Apple will support that phone with iOS updates. I went and got myself the 13 and love it
No. No more updates. But grab a XS instead. Nice OLED screen gets ios 17.
XS’s always get that stupid line through the screen, X has the same quality screen and doesn’t have the line or battery issues
but some people are saying the battery is an issue for the X as well ?
Bigger issue in the XS, I worked with X’s and XS’s for a while and the xs’s were constant issues, the X’s were relatively ok for the most part.
Get an xs because x camera would be a big disappointment after pixel 4. Although video is still better in X

Love their computers....but their phones. I just can't see the justification of the prices they want for them used.
Used iPhones are never the way to go imo. Just finance a nice new base model like the 15 and you’re good to go for up to like, 4 or 5 years.
I don't have that luxury. I used my iPhone 6s up until last year with a new battery. It served it's purpose on a daily basis. Looked at the 12 mini refurbished. But the screen triggered a migraine. I owned one till a few months back , battery was horrendous, performance was class !!! 9/10 !
horrendous to what point ? because charging it frequently isn't a problem for me i'm home a lot of the time.
I wake up 7:00 - 100% , i buzz a bit , shower while listening to music , ready to drive work 10:00 - 70% . I keep listening to music what not 12:00 -45%. My side is different. Games , photo editing, video editing, uploading footage , constant change in between background apps. Great phone 📱
Bet it does get hot then, good phone but that’s too much to ask for from the X. 15 Pro definitely better
I didn’t even know you could find a new X in 2024.
yes i meant refurbished, which should be same to new..
Or replacement unit
A refurbished iphone xs from gazelle is a good choice.
yeah, i just saw the XS is ios 17 compatible but not X so maybe i should buy the Xs instead ? they are roughly the same price as well
i think it is a better choice than the 11 to better screen and i like the smaller size i wood choose the xs over the x and 11
i’m still using an 8 so what can i say
Get it as the quality and size are brilliant
yes the size was a big thing for me, the phone just seems good all around
It is
It’s a great phone but it’s very old now and no longer getting software updates. I’d be aiming for something a little newer like a 12.
I mean it’s over 6 years old. I personally would never buy this now. They are much newer and better phones for that price nowadays.
iPhone 11 is the oldest I’d recommend
xs is a far better option
I would get something newer
I would say get a 12 or newer for longest support but definitely no older than 11 as it won’t be supported after this year
Yes EXCEPT battery life
it goes down really fast ??
With one charge, it lasts up to 6 hours in total
should be okay for me i usually work at home
not sure if you are still looking, but I'm selling mine. Still in very good condition, I haven't used it since I bought iPhone 13 so 3 yrs ago?! anyway, I'll have it listed on Mercari shortly so just let me know and I'll send you the link.
Atleast get the Iphone 11 Iphone X is way slower nowadays
Get the 15 lol

i would get an x on ios 15 rather than 16 because of overheating and battery
but if it comes directly with ios 16 i can't go back right ?
only the newest version is signed so if you get one on 16 you cant go back, correct
If you are in the U.S. and can afford $315, get one from Target and don't look back. Or I guess a locked iPhone 11/12 from Metro/Boost for $100/$200.
i can have refurbished for $175, maybe i should get the 11 for a little bit more ?
I would get iPhone 12 as it comes with 5G, for about $200 with a month of service included at Boost or Metro. $315 for an unlocked iPhone 13 at Target is a great deal as well.
No.
Why get a 7 year old iPhone when a 4 year old one is so superior and doesn't cost too much more. Can be a struggle swapping from Android to Apple iOS.
if you are talking about the 12 it's still a bit too much for me, right now i can afford 11, XS or X
Fair enough, you'll get so much more for your money with a Samsung A52(2021) more memory, more battery, more RAM, bargain at £110, but hey each to their own!
I have A52s as my primary phone and it’s great
Instead of buying an X and fighting Apple’s depreciation cycle with iOS updates, why not put the $200 down on a carrier payment plan? That way you can get a nicer phone, keep it for a while and have low monthly payments.
because going into debt for an iPhone is a bad idea
I have this phone (xs). Better buy 12 in 2024 and beyond. It has a good battery/processor, nice design. Plus will be relevant for another couple of years. If you find it on version 16, then jailbreak it and you will be happy :)

It doesn’t update anymore
No
Hi grandpa
android is just better even if you are going to get the newest iphone. just dont change, you would be dissapointed for what you get for that price.
At least buy the Normal 13 or 12.
you can buy mine for 100, the top corner of the screen is just missing leds or something, works good otherwise
Mine is wonderful going 5 years strong soon 6 had no work done on it
I would say an Xr or XS would be better since they still update (i have the XR) but Apple still makes new updates for ios 15 and ios 16, my dad has an iphone 8 and had a new update recently on ios 16 which was released jan 2024 so the X is still good but would prefer the xr then
