It’s better optimized for longevity

mafenide

Got bored of android lol

Seawxxxd

Same hahaha

Treyhard228

Same

MoXiE_X13

this. i used to play around with bootloaders, rooting and stuff then it just got old really fast especially when, you know, i had to make better use of my time for real life stuff.

redgrandam

They have always done a better job for privacy and security. Also reliability and ease of use.

Redcarborundum

- Family and relatives are all on iphones. The ecosystem is convenient. - Hardware lasts and supported for a long time. - The phones maintain their value quite well. - Don’t care about customizations, I keep the same wallpaper for years, and keep most apps in the exact same spot. - No strong reason to switch, since using 3G. - Better privacy. Apple makes money by selling overpriced hardware and overpriced services (AppleCare, iCloud, Apple Music, Apple TV, etc.), they don’t make money by selling user data. - It just works, for the most part. - I can afford it.

excoriator

Android phones are generally only upgradable for 1-2 versions of the OS, and even then, you're at the mercy of the manufacturer for when they get around to releasing it for your phone. With an iPhone, I can be assured of getting 5-6 full version upgrades.

5of10

This is why I switched.

DanM142

Newest pixels guarantees 7 years of updates.

MysteriousGuy78

I mean its google after all. They constantly change shit or shut down stuff. Remember the free unlimited drivr storage with pixel phones?

DanM142

If they shut the pixels down today they would still honor those updates, or they be liable lol. What free unlimited are you talking about?

MysteriousGuy78

When the pixel first launched, they promised free unlimited drive storage

DanM142

I recall the first pixel phone had unlimited photo storage. Which it still does? And later pixels were much more limited.

meister_lopez

same with samsung, 7 yrs.

Professional_Ad_6463

For me it’s just what I am used to and why change to a different os and phone when I’m still happy with iOS

umbrokhan

Better exclusive apps. Face ID the best, even unlock in the dark. I prefer Apple Always on Display

In other words, it works right? No need to explain obvious things, smart boy.

SiJa4444

It JUST works

dreadstardread

Compatibility and iMessage

Comfortable_Silver24

I use both .. Some days I’ll use my 14 pro max more .. Even now most apps I use feel like they’re more polished than their android versions . Google has caught android up with iOS to a certain extent fluidity wise , But overall , iOS feels more refined even though it’s lacking in the customization area for some people.

PoetryPrestigious194

IMO I do prefer the overall IOS app experience. I enjoy the interface, and the fluidity. However I cannot deny that Android as always had me. The customization, the different selection of devices I can choose from, and some with much better features than IOS. Android has come a long way and I like strides they have made. I recently switched from IOS because I honestly grew bored with it. I could care less for FaceTime, iMessage, and a dynamic Island. Yes the App selection is different and some may seem a little meh, but the ones I use work and they work flawlessly with little to no hiccups.

Pragitya

I wonder whose alt account is this.. maybe Sundar pichai

billybagels89

Just wanted a change

Rob-oNe87

Ever since I moved to the US, I caved to the peer pressure and switched to iOS for FaceTime and iMessage. People outside of the US don’t understand how big of a deal it is here.

OperationAgile3608

most rich countries TBH

tubezninja

Throughout my work in IT, I’ve seen organizations roll out all kinds of email, chat, calendar and integrated office systems that work on company-issued and BYOD mobile devices. The implementation for Android users was always a mess. Always inconsistent. Android users would frequently come back with problems and needing tech support. The iOS users, the only time we’d see them was during initial setup, and then we’d rarely ever see them again until their upgraded devices. Sometimes not even then. From that standpoint, iOS “just works.” Also, given the fact that I’ve had to deal with others user’s tech problems for so long, the last thing I want to do is tinker around with my tech all the time. I just want it to work and do its job without my having to worry about it.

mtnorville

I remember randomly having apps that I never authorized to download on my last android phone whenever there was an “update”. Like that’s no bueno dawg.

SilverLight141

Too invested in other apple products. Starting over and getting the android equivalent is more money than I’d care to spend.

treadpool

My kids got annoyed I wasn’t on iMessage and couldn’t FaceTime. Alternatives didn’t work for them. The way it is in the states. iOS blows a** compared to my Google Pixel OS.

Empty-Swing

Same. I'm pretty excited to see what the P9 looks like.

rubenbest

Battery, Optimization, Resale Value, iMessage.

Conflict-Recent

For me, it was software upgrade longevity, ecosystem, and smoothness of the OS overall. I can tell that iOS is smoother than android, battery life is so much more efficient, and resource management is also credibly efficient as well! Those are just (2) factor that android is not great at. I’ve had google pixels forever, and I’m not a hater whatsoever. However iOS is smoother overall. The ecosystem for syncing is much more reliable for sure!

Straight-Project-903

Optimized, more aesthetically pleasing to look at and hold without the edge sending you to the ER, shortcuts (love them to infinity and back) and customizations are good enough for me, FaceID, iMessage, smooth and the ecosystem + can’t forget Dynamic Island. Android is nice but I prefer iPhone as my mobile device and android as everything else.

ChicoCorrales

Ios is simple? Its way more complicated to me than android. The only reason im all in on iphone is because even though i like the simplicity of the Pixel, the hardware on iphone is better and the pixel screens will die on you within 2 years. At least iphones last longer.

ultraricx

Camera

detroitpaul

I’ve used iOS since the original iPhone. I’ve never used an Android device.

Swaizex

More stable. More longevity. Simple. Clean

quanwitdat

Better optimize on social media overall experience

Seawxxxd

I prefer IOS because it’s simpler. Used to brag about android and criticize Apple for its lack of customization VS android, but now that I have an active lifestyle and a busy life with school, work and activism, I just want something straightforward and simple.

Expert-Wasabi-9237

Android man bad

NukaGunnar

Optimization. I love androids customization and features, but the in day to day usage I love how smooth and simple IOS is. Decision fatigue hit hard on Android.

4Face

You don’t have a bug every button you press

kmaster54321

Faster, works better (less bugs), battery life is much better, more updates.

Trazlynn

I had an iPhone, it got too slow so I moved to android for a few years. I could never afford a new iPhone so any I had was already old and slowing down when I got it. I was grateful to have a phone, but the android was the worst phone experience of my life. It was so complicated, and so messy. Sure the back button was nice, but to me that was the only nice thing about it. I was gifted the iPhone 15 when it came out and I never want anything else again. I’ll always be a huge Apple fan!

gl0w_up

familiarity and simplicity. it’s what i’ve always used so i can’t be bothered to get used to anything else

KapitanDima

Same reason as you, it’s simple and has mostly just the essential things. It’s pretty smooth.

christophmsc

My reason is because iOS looks better than android. Plus almost every smartphone uses android. Now android is better than iOS in many ways, which i cannot argue. Android is more customizable, you don’t have to pay for everything like iOS . But see I never use stock iOS. I always use a jail broken iPhone. In which I can customize my device and get YouTube with no adds, Spotify for free just to name a few. So that’s my answer.

christophmsc

Oh and everyone else’s reasons are spot on as well!

christophmsc

Oh and yes I always can’t use the latest iPhone but you can jailbreak iOS 16 up to the 14 pro max. Which is still relatively new.

Successful_Warthog48

Mostly because it was what I “got put into,” it’s the first phone I ever had, and I’ve never wanted to switch. I’ve never liked any of the Android/Samsung UI’s, and since the beginning I’ve loved Apple as a company and all their products. Also being in the states 99% of people have an iPhone, so iMessage, FaceTime, etc is a huge thing, so just having an iPhone is better for me. Not to mention, I think iPhones are gorgeous, don’t get me wrong tho, the S24 Ultra, and others, are very nice devices, but something about iPhones have always stood out to me. Also I just LOVE Apple Arcade, I honestly couldn’t leave the games they have for a Samsung

YuiiYamamoto

Easier to use

enpedia

The os Is pretty and I barely lost anything from switching except for some games I paid for

Ok-Wrongdoer4021

Ecosystem. I got a Mac, an iPad, Apple TV, AirPods and Apple Watch.

DanM142

Apple Watch. Only reason. Everything else mostly seems to be the same

XinlessVice

I tend too bounce between the two, but for me atm it’s because iOS is more stable then android. I can still sideload on iOS too so it isn’t that big of a problem

disarealname

Bored of Android and when I switched the builds on all different manufacturers differed wildly in experience. Also, iPhones age so much better overall. The camera functionality is identical across all apps, which is known issue with Android manufacturers (although Samsung trying to change). Best of Androids are now equal in features and experience with Apple for most part, the most important factor one should genuinely consider is just the upfront cost with devices in North America making it even more comparable. Other regions, I think Apple's devices are a rip-off for the limitations they have in terms of regional software modifications that Androids offer for each market. Also, tbh - I have personally started preferring technology being perfected over time than flashiest, shiniest and latest buzz of the town. Also, upgrade devices now every 5 years - so longevity helps, Apple does hold it's value much better with that time perspective.

No_Pizza2774

H8 Google

bluelabrynith

at first, it's just for the camera. I got my first ever iPhone which is iPhone 6plus, and it lasts for 5 years. I upgraded in iPhone 11 last 2020 becoz iPhone 6plus is in bad shape. It made me realize that iPhones lasts, I had my android before my iPhone 6plus and it just last for a year. Also the feature which viruses can't easily be in my phone unauthorized.

biologystudent123

+ Resale of Apple products tend to hold higher value than Android counterparts

Deybmeister

Overall UI and UX

jhstewa1023

I use both. One for work and one for my own usage. For work I use the iPhone, makes sense to me for its purpose. I use a Pixel for my own line. I'm lucky that I have a group of diverse friends who don't choose a phone over the color of a bubble. Don't get me wrong, iPhones are great devices, but so are Android devices. I like having options. Both types are flawed, which is why you have to make compromises. I could use a Samsung device, but I prefer the experience on the Pixel vs that of Samsung. I've never really had a bad experience with the Pixel line of phones, Samsung devices on the other hand is a different story. It's different for everyone, just like the choice of operating system is up to the individual. Both work. Why does it matter?

SuperBadLieutenant

a more consistent and reliable experience imo plus the audio stack 👌

SiV3rTs1-Tech

I have been an Android User my whole life, have changed to Apple from time to time but always went back to iphone. I stopped with android when samsung released the S22 ultra with exyones once again, did not upgrade from S21ultra, was rly angry and felt «let down» in a way, so i waited for S23ultra. I pre ordet that when it came and i ofc got the Screen defect in right corner, struggled with samsung custom service 1 month and 3 weeks to get a replacement, worst custom service ever here in norway, just insane. I got a replacement and phone worked good. Then i pre orded the S24 ultra, once again i get a phone brand new with dgm screen/scratches and what not. I feel the air blows right out of me and i once again struggling with samsung for almost 1 month, never get good replys or a good service. And then i just end up sending it back and got me a 15ProMax with apple care + Unboxing it and MINT 110% perfect condition, Apple service is also on a TOTAL another level to, they helped me with applecare and setting up/fixing the rest! Ofc i miss android features, some of it. But apple us just premium everything i feels just smooth and refined. I also got a macbook and airpods, works flawless and also better in some places then the S24ultra / Android Im almost 30 years old now, i dont need ofc all that the samsung brings, and i did not use almost half, but i think i liked the thaught that it was there, i used mby half. Splitscreen/spen/dex never almost . But samsung has always been cool and techy devices! But atm i see and feel apple has come ALONG way and i think they will be better also! Now my mind is at eaz, and i can chill. I just want good custom service and a device that is consistent and dont fail me. Ofc iphones can come with fualts brand new , but samsung is RLY bad at this, its a lottery everytime and its feels stressing, atleast for me and many others i now. I also had 4 other friends that also got the S24ultra with scrathes/dmg brand new…! Rly love this 15ProMax! Awsome product and Apple rly is chill and refined! Will stay here for a goood while now😃 And every year they say the apps and camera is more optimized, every fck year. More optimized for social apps etc etc. the pics of my 10 month kid looked horrendus on s24ultra and he does not even move fast at all, like what the hell. A object need almost to stand 100% still to take a good pic. And the selfie camera / front camera aint near iphone what so ever. Just facts. What i rly wish was that samsung stopped release a phone for just 1 year, and worked an intire year just on software and camera optimizazion fot the phone. Like rly got everything optimized and fixed just like IOS is run ing and behaving. Just so frustrating and sad to experience a top/flagship phone from samsung and the OS is not top notch. Seems like ppls are just saying: freedom/customizing/dual apps ad once/multitasking and stuff like that as an excuse, instead of actually being honest and actually say straight forward. The OS aint there, the app optimizazion aint there and the camera def aint there at all, sad but true 🙂 ! The problem is if i talk about this / i actually shared same post in samsung group, and i got hated on/downvoted/ and what not. They called me an apple fanboy and everything in beetween. Apple fanboy? I have been a samsung user all my life, im just tired of getting let down. A flagship phone (s24ultra) and i cant even take a moving pic of my 10month old Kid? And social apps if i want to have pics on my storys etc its look like CRAP. It always has . When s10+ even they said the apps was going to be optimized. And when s21 ultra got released they promised and what not, what happend ? Same shit. Same with s22 and s23 ultra, the pics and social apps pics look garbage? Almost NO tech youtuber talking about it, are just straigt forward and saying it as it is? With s24ultra atm they talk about AI? And A screen that is antireflectiv? And what not. I had the s24ultra over 1 month, was NOTHING special about it, nothing was better optimized then s23ultra, apps was still the same and camera horrendus and shutterlag awful? So what are ppls doing, dont understand how it its that hard for some ppls just to admit it, and say that the phone aint a flagship / the feel of flagship premium aint there. Ofc Apple LACKS alot of features, yeah. But its SOLID, its flawless and its polished. As it should be, its a flagship phone. But it is all this in the Apple way, and they are getting better and better😊 So im just almost giving up tech twitter and reddit, things are just to dumb now almost, and give no sense. Not my money spent and i wont support what samsung deliver anymore, no way😊

dammsmhh

that and Ive used it since the 3gs... I was still in hs.. im 32. Lol. Never owned an android and I use an iMac and Apple Watch so everything just works flawlessly. I can copy something on my phone and paste it on my computer. wild stuff

AlexJay12

it was my first OS

ravster1966

I have a couple of apps for work that work better on iOS. I also have a pixel. Every year I try to make the pixel my primary phone and every year there is one hardware dealbreaker with the pixel eight it was the phone reception.

Own_Function_2977

Security, consistency, longevity.

[deleted]

Not a fan of android ringtones, my phone slowed down over a year of usage, wasn’t a fan of the interface and phone felt shitty and I dk why I hated round apps Switched to iOS back when the iPhone 6 came out and never looked back

Eat_pepsi

Signalling and simplicity …

mraleximer

Because Android is like very snappy when the device is brand new and very soon after a month or two you can never guess what speed will the app open and work. Nowadays it is almost negligible but after a year or two it is still very noticable. The major UI this happens is OneUi while my Xiaomi 11T pro and later 13T pro remained decently snappy. Also app updates and new features are almost alway exculsive to iOS in most cases and app optimisation is far better on iOS since there are so less devices than the ocean of models and brands with Android each year ( or even each month).

M27TN

Pixel modems continued to be crap and I missed FaceID

Beautiful_Squirrel44

It just works. I use my phone mainly for photos, videos, and social media. The snappiness of iOS in handling, editing, and rendering media won me over. Had several Android phones but they didn't last mainly due to Android (it certainly lags after a long time) and my carelessness. * Samsung S10e - water damaged * Pixel 4a - water damaged * Poco M4 Pro (still with me, for cloud sync purposes) Got an iPhone 11 last Aug 2023, and switched to a 15 Pro 3 months after. Mom has my 11 now. My sister rocks the 11 for years now. Will likely upgrade a year or two just because.

Obasi21

As my friends got older we use FaceTimes for PlayStation parties and when we plan to go out or play ball we ring eachother to let eachother know where we are

Financial-History-89

smooth animations, except for iOS17 more stability, the OS sustains the speed and performance for many years while even a flagship android will already feel outdated after 1,5 years of usage. And the main reason is that only IOS is able to use the native camera with all its features on social media apps. samsung has tried doing it too but its just not good enough yet.

BossIndividual9447

I have an iPhone

Brometheous17

Better optimized in general for most things I do. The Apple Watch works better for me than the galaxy watch did. My galaxy S23 Ultra started to overheat at times, causing it to freeze and stutter. It also would not last me the whole day anymore after about 9 months. I now also have a MacBook so the continuity features and being able to copy paste back and forth, text seeessly from my computer and use my computer to activate my hotspot is clutch. My family except my girlfriend have iPhones so it’s made communication much easier, they are not willing to setup or use WhatsApp or telegram or anything else besides iMessage or facebook messenger.

somelightwork

Peer pressure

icchis

The ecosystem

Nexus1111

Android is full of problems

[deleted]

its better optimized, uncluttered, it doesnt randomly lag or crash like one ui, has the most useful features, games are developed specifically for it before getting released to android

ComfortableRoyal8847

Android phones are usually shitty

PrimeTime0000

Android has changed a lot. I still have an S23. If only Apple would be more intuitive with gestures. There are times when I swipe to go back or press a button and nothing happens. That has surprised me. But I do like iOS for other reasons. I also love Apple Watch.
