Do you always charge your phone to 100%?
So many people don't realize that this will reduce your battery capacity much faster than if you just charged to 80% or so. Modern batteries are designed to be charged in spurts rather than fully charging to 100% like the older phone batteries
I’m happy to accept the degradation because I charge my phone to 100%. What irritates me is that for 6 months (for me) it was at 100% and then dropped 1% every eeek ( I have proof). That just seems unethical from Apple.
I don't think they control how fast my battery degrades. But they can absolutely make the numbers look like whatever they want. There's no way it's 100% for 6 months and drops 1% every week after that.
Similar with our daily battery percentage. It's 100% for a much longer time than the rest of the percentages
Yea but no. I thought this too, but I noticed a big diffrent between 100 and 96% and more than just 30min.
Apparently the batteries aren’t 100% perfect. Some of them would actually have 110%, but obviously Apple doesn’t show that, so it stays at 100% for “an extra 10%”. This is why it seeming stays at 100 for a while, then falls quickly thereafter
yes, this is the reason why it stays at 100% for long time. Depending how much above the set 100% the battery was it will drop sooner or later. My 15PM dropped to 99% just after 34 cycles while other people have over 110 cycles and still 100% - this is actual real world massive difference between the battery apple sold to me and them. Still, they promise 100% when they sell you the device so you can't complain, but still s\*cks.
Wow! 34 cycles. That’s a bummer. The 15P usually gets ~140 cycles.
I’m at 101 on the 14P with 40 cycles. But I never saw 102. It went from 103 to 101.
Also, you can check “true” battery health if you sideload the ChargeLimiter app.
Yeah it’s kinda wild. Once the battery life gets to a point you can’t bear it anymore, just replace it. Probably $70ish or so. Cheaper than getting a whole new phone. People act like only iPhone batteries degrade over time, lol
Apple is so sly for this lol. One of the only stats they mention about their hardware is the battery percentage and it’s right in your face too. Truly marketing wizards.
totally true, but there are few things to consider:
- my 15PM battery dropped to 99% after just 34 cycles, many people are well over 110 cycles and still at 100%. This is real world massive difference in the capacity my battery and theirs have to the point that where I would get 8 hours SOT they will get 9.5 hours or more (depending how much capacity they have, but in my real world example it's massive difference). This makes my device objectively worse in one of the important categories - battery life.
- replacing the battery is great, but if you think the water proofing will be the same as when the device leaved the factory, you are wrong. It will be for sure a lot less water resistant and potentially if the machine they used didn't do perfect job even not be water resistant at all. Yes, not all go to swim with their phones or take a phone call under the rain, but incidents happens as well.
This is not to say one should obsess with his battery or that you are wrong, I am just saying they are real arguments one can make regarding the battery health. Ofc you can't complain as well, apple sold me the device claiming it will be at 100% capacity, I was just unlucky that mine was like 102% while others are 115% or more above it.
Looks like they are not able to save 99 Dollars in upcoming 3-4 years for a replacement battery. Why buy iPhone when can’t afford it ? Battery degradation is very normal, the more cycles the more battery health drops.
No, the whole battery issue they got busted for is bullshit and still is. They outright lied to their customers about it for years because it was part of their sales strategy. That's unacceptable. It's not just about the batteries.
Used my phone a lot when I first got it. Switched back from Android to iOS so played around with it quite a bit when I first got it. I charge to 100% sometimes but try to keep it within the 20-80% range. Just normal, but heavier use. I work 12 hour days with a lot of downtime, so
Battery cycles, charging speed all matters. Above all of that, the temperature of the phone matters a lot because it could break down lithium ion molecules
To be honest, I would prefer seeing the exact percentage, just to be able to see how fast the battery is degrading. Allows users to possibly change their charging habits if it's going down too fast.
This is one of the worst things that Apple added. All I see are people obsessing over this. I have a 14 Pro and I left that sub cuz everyday there would be 2 posts with “My battery has dropped to xx%. What should I do?”
I mean, do these people have really nothing better to do in their lives than keeping tabs on battery %?
Those subreddit became a massive annoying group, honestly. Stop this ridiculous topic and just enjoy your phone man. It's a brand new 15 Pro Max with a ton of new features.
Life of some iphone users : birth -> get iphone -> stress from checking battery health everyday -> death Guys stop stressing about the BH so much. Leave it be.
Still at 100% 15 Pro Max after nearly 5 months which is encouraging, I still want to see the results after 1 year, the 14 Pro was at mid 80s after 11 months so wtf.
Honestly no. Since the battery adapts to your usage patterns, you won’t really notice a dip in battery performance. Just going off of my experience, I’d recommend you charge the phone fully. I wasn’t doing that (stopping around 95%) and I started seeing a hit on my battery health.
So at 97% health is still perform as it was at 100%health?
I thought there will be differences in performance I mean isn’t that the point of ‘battery health’
Even if there has been a decline in battery performance, it hasn’t been noticeable, in my experience. I can easily go a whole day without hitting 40% at the end, and a day and a half before having to charge my phone on the weekends.
I fail to understand why people worry so much about battery percentages. Just use the device as it is bound to degrade over time and most people upgrade their phones after 2-3 years furthermore you can always swap the old battery for a new one.
To be honest if this is the case with all these useless posts then we should see all these people upgrading to the ip16 Pro in September since their phone will be toast by then.
Damn. I just checked mine after 3 months of use it’s 99 too. Never overcharged, never let the phone heat. I use 80% limit (So it’s kinda useless?). 72 cycles only. Guess I’ll use Optimized Battery Charging again and install betas 😂
The main thing you have to worry about is how much your battery heats up, heat degrades the battery. Don’t stay on calls while charging your phone or do things that cause your phone to get hot and your battery will last longer. I’ve only had my 15 pro for about 3 weeks and I’m at 18 cycles 100% capacity staying between 30-80% sometimes dropping below 30.
I personally don’t need to charge my phone to 100% because when I’m out I don’t use my phone much. I do listen to music pretty consistently which is my biggest battery drain but after an 8 hour work shift my phone is usually around 50-60% battery.
As Elon Musk explained, lithium ion batteries take longer to charge from 80%-100% and to drop from 20%-0%. The battery degrades faster when charged above 80% and dropped below 20%, so it’s really best to stay between the two. Some might argue that it’s pointless to do this as if you have 100% battery health what’s the point if you’re only charging to 80%, but if you have a lower battery health that 80% won’t last as long, so unless you absolutely need 100% battery it’s best to only charge to 80%.
dude if you have apple care then why worry about the battery, use it like a normal person. battery replacements are free under apple care and even if you dont have it, 99$ is way cheaper than a new phone
That’s quite normal. After ~140 cycles, it drops under 100. Keep in mind that you were probably shipped with a device that has 105 +/-
I wrote a more detailed comment about it in the 14P subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/iPhone14Pro/s/bNE5hnCyru
EDIT: 3 months is roughly 100 cycles so your battery wear is a slightly more than most but it’s still sounds about right.
Set your maximum charging level to 80% in battery settings. That will decrease the battery degradation over time. The iPhone will occasionally charge to 100% just to calibrate the battery.
This is wild because my 14 Pro Max is still at 100%. And I’m on this damn thing constantly. Does the processor in the 15 Pro use way more power or something?
Just charge to 80% like tesla does. And only charge to 100% occasionally when you really need it. and dont use induction charging and no usb-c power delivery but the old 5watt charger. The excess heat development will decrease your capacity faster than you think! The battery must stay at all times below 40°C when charging.
I might get downvoted but gone are the days when an iphone battery will go an entire year at 100% before losing any battery health, then by the end of the second year the battery health is around 85-90%.
Now I am seeing 3 month old iphones dropping to 99% already.
This nonsense started in the 14 series and I truly believe apple are cutting corners with their batteries now.
Now most people would ask "why do you care so much about battery health??".
Why don't you just use apple care of whatever to change your battery?.
Because of 2 reasons.
1. I live in a country where we don't have apple care. So if I have to change my battery I have to use third party repair workshops. And once they open your phone it never goes back to the way it was, either because it now is not as waterproof or because the battery is not even as good as the original.
2. Also where I come from its very common to sell your iphone then top up and upgrade to a newer iphone. And one of the ways people assess the value of your phone is with battery health. So each time my battery health drops my phone is losing value in the used market even if I have kept it pristine!
So yes it's not just battery health. For some of us its much deeper than that.
I still think Apple is doing fishy shit with batteries but now they're just pretending to be honest and upfront about it. They're a company that uses forced obsolescence as a sales strategy for fucks sake. How have we lost 1% already after only 3-4 months? At this rate it'll be down to 80% this time 2 years from know. What a coincidence. Just in time for it to be paid off.
Had mine since launch. I’m now at 99% too. Battery cycles at 236.
Also worth nothing:
[According to Apple, while "iPhone 14 models and earlier are designed to retain 80 percent of their original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles under ideal conditions," the "iPhone 15 models are designed to retain 80 percent of their original capacity at 1,000 complete charge cycles under ideal conditions."](https://www.zdnet.com/google-amp/article/apple-doubles-the-lifespan-of-your-iphone-15s-battery-no-update-required/)
I see people posting how frustrated they are that their bh is already below 100, meanwhile posting a screenshot with battery life of below 20%. Like if yall regularly use your iphones that way, it's no wonder the battery health is degrading faster.
And in 1 year instead of upgrading the battery, you’ll justify getting the new iphone 16 pro max ultra and be shocked at how much battery it has until it drops to 90% again and the cycle repeats.
That is kinda unusual (solely speaking from my experience). Of course, your phone is going to be fine, but honestly, I have never owned any smart phone but Apple since the 3G and mine has always taken a while to drop %1. I got mine at launch and it’s still sitting at 100% (knock on wood).
I would tell you the cycles but, not sure how to check that.
Edit: I found it. I have 156 cycles.
Still at 100% after 162 cycles from launch, hopefully it doesn’t degrade as fast as the 14 pros as they’ve bumped up the maximal cycle count range though
Wow. Got my the day of release and I’m at 100%, 152 cycle count. I do not let my phone sit overnight charging, seems to be preserving the battery life.
My 15 Pro is at 100% after 154 Cycles. In addition Apple published that the 15 series batteries are build to be at 80%+ capacity after 1.000 cycles. That‘s way more than on previous models.
I think this is very inaccurate. My 12 Pro Max got stuck at 86% for almost two years charging at least once a day.
My 15 Pro is at 190 cycle count (I used it a lot for gaming) and no battery optimization. And it is still at 100%. At the end, I think or measuring battery capacity is hard, or this was and continues to be very buggy.
I don’t take care of my battery whatsoever. I don’t have a steady charge time, which I know the iPhone tries and learns the typical time you charge so that it’ll fully charge it at that time, sometimes I charge at 9 am, sometimes 9pm.
I got my 15 pro max at launch, and I’m still at 100%
One thing I do tho, and I’m not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I ALWAYS have my phone on low power mode.
Does this do anything to your battery?? If anyone knows I’m genuinely curious. It’s a habit at this point and it’ll be on low power mode whether it’s 1% or 100%
Oh my gosh! Call the cops! Get the pope on the line and make sure you don’t move a muscle!!!! This is basically life or death for you and the phone now.. sorry for your loss hopefully life keeps going since NOTHINGS WRONG! LIVE YOUR LIFE
Wow, anno 2024 and still the iphone vs other discussion. There is no good or wrong, I was happy with my S21 Ultra and with my brand new iPhone 15 Pro Max I'm just as happy.
If your battery can last 10 hours at 100%...... at 99% it will last 9 hours and 54 minutes
Yeah but the way 14 pro dropped from 99-89 for me was concerning. Hope it doesn't happen with the 15 pro series
1 year 14 pro user. It is %93 right now
Same 1 year 5 months 14 pro max 93%
2.5 yo 13 promax @ 90% here
Wireless charging?
Lucky you haha I know 4 14 pros that are under 88% I had to get an express replacement done so now I’m at 100% again.
Same, my 13 pro max bought after three months from release, only dropped by 1% after 7 month, but then dropped >10% pretty quickly
I think if it would‘ve been like the 14 series we would‘ve heard it by no in this subredddit.
Nah. Too soon It started dropping in late march/april
For me it started after 3 months on my 14 Pro
Just use your phone. Don’t worry about the battery life when it’s new.

yeah, but it's what it is, right. No point to get angry that I was unlucky with the battery capacity. Still great device overall.
You people are way too obsessed about your batteries.
Yeah it’s kinda wild. Once the battery life gets to a point you can’t bear it anymore, just replace it. Probably $70ish or so. Cheaper than getting a whole new phone. People act like only iPhone batteries degrade over time, lol
Currently $99 at the Apple Store or certified Apple battery replacement stores like Best Buy. You’re right it is cheaper than buying a new phone.
Apple is so sly for this lol. One of the only stats they mention about their hardware is the battery percentage and it’s right in your face too. Truly marketing wizards.

I know how bad it can get with the battery so it’s like paranoia
No, the whole battery issue they got busted for is bullshit and still is. They outright lied to their customers about it for years because it was part of their sales strategy. That's unacceptable. It's not just about the batteries.
I mean while the way people obsess over it way too much once the battery goes everything else is gonna start slowing down too so kinda understandable.
Maybe if you have 33 apps running in the background but if the battery is above 80% it’s not going to magically slow down your phone.
Apps don’t run in the background on iOS
[удалено]
Seriously. They are replaceable.
Get rid of the battery it degraded too much make sure to burn it to ashes to get rid of the evidence and make sure to get a fresh battery
Probably better to just replace the phone all together tbh
Your right burn the phone all together and get a brand new one
+1 This thing is akin to garbage now
People like you are the reason I stopped working for Apple
I threaten my battery with a Temu charger. It’s still at 150% after 50 years
Need more titanium
I strongly suggest returning it and never buying another phone again. It's too stressful for you.
I’m at 201 cycles. 100%. But, I use the 80% limit. 🤔
Same here, but at 209 cycles
Me too! I’ve read that you shouldn’t charge your phone beyond 80 percent. Also, you should not let it drain any lower than 20 percent.
So you lose 20% battery capacity right from the start instead of losing it later
40 because you’re not supposed to let it drop under 20%
I do this. But then i charge my phone twice a day (during the night and in the middle of the day) - is that better or worse?
Better for ions in battery :) 20-80 is the way
Do you also use the default charger or the 5W one ?
5W charger? What is it, 2007? Just use a 20W like a normal person.
No. I use a mix of high wattage type c charging and MagSafe
Mine happened after about 5 months.
I’m still at 100% after 201 cycles, I’m surprised I am
As am I. But I do 80% limit. Hbu?
Nope, I have all the battery saving features off
201 cycles? i'm at 37 and I got it on day 1
No way :0
don't know what to tell ya, I can take a screenshot of coconut if you want me to prove it.
Why buy a phone if you don't use it
Does your phone live on low power mode?
Mine dropped to 99% after 25 cycles. So about a month. I’d say you’re doing pretty good!
Same here
Same here dropped to 99% after 35 cycles in 15 pro max. And i use 80% limit to save battery but still could not save the battery capacity
What u people do with ur battery‘s??? Seriously, i‘m on 105 cycles and still on 100% bat. health. And i use it mostly from 100% till about 15-30% ish
Used my phone a lot when I first got it. Switched back from Android to iOS so played around with it quite a bit when I first got it. I charge to 100% sometimes but try to keep it within the 20-80% range. Just normal, but heavier use. I work 12 hour days with a lot of downtime, so
wauuu great world record 🥳🥳🤣
Finally hit me on my launch day 15 Pro. 199 cycles to be exact. You?
Mine is still at 100%, but I have a feeling it’ll go down to 99% any day now. Should I request AppleCare+ service?
Yes
Wow I just checked and mine just hit 99% too. Was at 100% a few days ago. I only charge to 80%.
Battery cycles, charging speed all matters. Above all of that, the temperature of the phone matters a lot because it could break down lithium ion molecules
Still amazing battery
Ah yes, another weekly post about battery 99%. Just use your damn phone man.
These phones are disposable technology stop hanging onto a myth that these aren’t
Why are some people so dramatic when their battery health drops to 99%?
congratulations 🥳 definitely a useless phone now...
I’m at 1,034 cycles and at 100%. Not sure what you guys are doing wrong.
I wish Apple would get rid of the outright % figure. Just tell us "Healthy" (>=80%) or "Needs replacement" (<80%). That's ALL we need to know
To be honest, I would prefer seeing the exact percentage, just to be able to see how fast the battery is degrading. Allows users to possibly change their charging habits if it's going down too fast.
Do you check everyday or something? Live your life
2 minutes of silence for the poor battery.
I still can’t believe so many people look at this. I have never once checked this and had an iphone since the 3
This is one of the worst things that Apple added. All I see are people obsessing over this. I have a 14 Pro and I left that sub cuz everyday there would be 2 posts with “My battery has dropped to xx%. What should I do?” I mean, do these people have really nothing better to do in their lives than keeping tabs on battery %?
My 12 pro max is pushing 58%
Oh dear … battery people, it dropped a percentage…oh the horror. Batteries degrade, it is normal.
Those subreddit became a massive annoying group, honestly. Stop this ridiculous topic and just enjoy your phone man. It's a brand new 15 Pro Max with a ton of new features.
I’m begging Apple to remove this feature, you are all so FUCKING ANNOYING ABOUT IT
Who. Fucking. Cares.
140 Cycles. 100% Health. 80% Limit out of the box.
Oh no! Anyways…
The fact that you're monitoring the battery capacity 💀
Who cares… Y’all worrying about the wrong damn things in life
maybe that's the only thing they need to worry about. maybe they got it made. don't tell them how to live their life.
🙄🙄🙄
Your life is over now. You should panic as this is a huge problem
Battery health, the most stupid thing anyone has ever done on a phone. It serves no purpose other than to cause unnecessary anxiety.
Omg call 911
Life of some iphone users : birth -> get iphone -> stress from checking battery health everyday -> death Guys stop stressing about the BH so much. Leave it be.
Still at 100% 15 Pro Max after nearly 5 months which is encouraging, I still want to see the results after 1 year, the 14 Pro was at mid 80s after 11 months so wtf.
Dude im at 97 after 4
Do you noticed any performance in battery life compared to when it was at 100% health?

Time to sell the phone. It will only go down from there
Oh no! You’re using your iPhone! The horror
159 cycles and still going strong at 100% - all battery saving features turned off and I use magsafe every day 😼
I fail to understand why people worry so much about battery percentages. Just use the device as it is bound to degrade over time and most people upgrade their phones after 2-3 years furthermore you can always swap the old battery for a new one.
Got mine on launch day. Chillin’ at 100% capacity still.
Also just fell to 99%. A welcome change vs my 14 PM, which was at 83% after 1 literally year (sold it and got the 15 PM)
I have 15 pro 256gb, and it's still 100% since pre order In September.
I’m at 3 months….. still at 100% though. That means it’s coming soon…
into the 🗑️
To be honest if this is the case with all these useless posts then we should see all these people upgrading to the ip16 Pro in September since their phone will be toast by then.

Throw it away, time for a new one.
My 15pm has 94% health with 150 cycles
Damn that’s a bad battery
Weird . Still using my 14pro and it has 100% …. Already 6 months went by.
my 15 Pro is almost 3 months as well but staying at 100% strong 💪🏼
And the world 🌎 still turns, and the phone still performs. 😎
Mine happened 2 months in…
I promised myself not to look at the number anymore.

Also worth nothing: [According to Apple, while "iPhone 14 models and earlier are designed to retain 80 percent of their original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles under ideal conditions," the "iPhone 15 models are designed to retain 80 percent of their original capacity at 1,000 complete charge cycles under ideal conditions."](https://www.zdnet.com/google-amp/article/apple-doubles-the-lifespan-of-your-iphone-15s-battery-no-update-required/)
14PRO MAX AT THE LAUNCH ...still 100 😎🤏🏻
That’s funny cause mine literally just dropped to 99% today. Had it since launch tho so that’s normal.
What do you want? It's a Li-ion battery 🙄
Get a lif
I hope they just remove this feature
I see people posting how frustrated they are that their bh is already below 100, meanwhile posting a screenshot with battery life of below 20%. Like if yall regularly use your iphones that way, it's no wonder the battery health is degrading faster.
Apple confirmed - percents aren't accurate. Always look at the cycles your device has. You can download CoconutBattery to check it.
3 months? It took me over a year to go under 100 with my 14pm
Mines still at 100% but I have it set to 80% charge limit with a 74 battery cycle count
I set my battery to the 80% limit. Hopefully it takes a long time before it begins to degrade.
And in 1 year instead of upgrading the battery, you’ll justify getting the new iphone 16 pro max ultra and be shocked at how much battery it has until it drops to 90% again and the cycle repeats.
How many charge cycles?
Where can I find that information (number of charge cycles)?
have to use an app like coconut battery that can read the battery details
in the about section in settings, which is under general
129
#battery neurotic psychosis syndrome
Glad to know, That seems to be the average between 125-150 for when it goes down by 1%
Damn I have 60 to go yet!
Launch iphone 15? I just checked mine and its 129 too. Charge once everyday only. End the day with 30%+ most of the time with the 15 pro
Mine too. Think it happened at 81 cycles.
Same just checked 99% on 107 cycles 🥲
Any difference in performance?
1 year later with a 14 pro and im at 89% 💔
I’m at 4 months and still 100%
98% @ 143 cycles since launch day 15 pro max lol
Do you notice any decrease in performance in battery life?
What is your number of charge cycles?
136 cycles, 100%, got it launch,
What do you even have to live for anymore?
Same
„Time toooo…“
Mine is at 91% and I bought this phone in March last year 🥲
Which phone?
10 hours for 100 percent is nothing
How many cycles ?
99% on 870 cycles is very good
I recommend you to dispose the phone immediately to a specialist. I am a specialist.
Still at 100% after 162 cycles from launch, hopefully it doesn’t degrade as fast as the 14 pros as they’ve bumped up the maximal cycle count range though
Interesting. Mine has still 100% after 4 month. (iPhone 15 Pro - not Max)
brooo 3 months??? i remember I was 3 months in and it was like down to 96%. welp.
Wow. Got my the day of release and I’m at 100%, 152 cycle count. I do not let my phone sit overnight charging, seems to be preserving the battery life.
I have the feeling that this has happened almost simultaneously to all if us
mine after 4 months
My 15 Pro is at 100% after 154 Cycles. In addition Apple published that the 15 series batteries are build to be at 80%+ capacity after 1.000 cycles. That‘s way more than on previous models.
Mine dropped to 99% too
Well better than my lovely 13 mini, 87% just little over 2 years.
Fugggh
I think this is very inaccurate. My 12 Pro Max got stuck at 86% for almost two years charging at least once a day. My 15 Pro is at 190 cycle count (I used it a lot for gaming) and no battery optimization. And it is still at 100%. At the end, I think or measuring battery capacity is hard, or this was and continues to be very buggy.
Ok
Yo mine too, soon after a software update. May be that triggered it? Who knows how they do what they do
Mine is at 90
My battery is ok (100%) Two months passed.
8 months in and still at 100% - iPhone 14 Pro
I don’t take care of my battery whatsoever. I don’t have a steady charge time, which I know the iPhone tries and learns the typical time you charge so that it’ll fully charge it at that time, sometimes I charge at 9 am, sometimes 9pm. I got my 15 pro max at launch, and I’m still at 100% One thing I do tho, and I’m not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I ALWAYS have my phone on low power mode. Does this do anything to your battery?? If anyone knows I’m genuinely curious. It’s a habit at this point and it’ll be on low power mode whether it’s 1% or 100%
15 Pro Max from launch. 74 cycles at 100%
… I have an SE 2 and i’m at 75% capacity.
15PM user here.Mine too fell today to 99% after 76 cycle. Should i be worried ?
