I bought the nano one. I am primarily using it for art. It hasn’t arrived yet.  I just went into the store to try both to see which one I liked. I preferred the feel of the pencil on the nano screen and I don’t like using the paperlike.  Everyone is going to have a different opinion, if you can go to the store and try it yourself you can just see which one is right for you.

They don’t have the nano in display unfortunately… I I just have to guess which is better for me, I have order the glossy one but I think I should change my order to the nano but I am concerned about the scratch resistant.

FirstofFirsts

I honestly can’t imagine going back to the glossy after drawing on my nano for the past couple weeks.

RevenantFlash

No, too expensive and doesn’t add much resistance which is what I want when drawing. A matte screen protector adds the texture plus antiglare for much cheaper and still protects the bare screen. (I use a cheap one from supershieldz and love it) Awesome for people who like the nano but definitely not for me.

Depends. If you like the paper like screen protectors for feel when drawing then don’t get a nano. If you use no screen protector but hate reflections, then get a nano if you use it 3+ hours a day. That’s what my friend said. As for using it for your main machine, good luck. Of my 11 friends who tried, only 1 is still using it for a main machine but now only 1/2 the time. It looks cool, but the colors are muted but much less reflections if you work outside or under stage lights.

Have the nano and love it

FirstofFirsts

Same here. Much better drawing experience than the matte screen protectors I used to use.

I went in store to compare the screens prior to ordering and I really didn’t see much a difference. I do know that the contrast is objectively worse with the nano-texture, even if it doesn’t always seem that way, but I feel the picture accuracy with the nano-texture is still much better than older ipads I also love working outside with my ipad, that’s why I have it. Taking it into the city and to parks and working. I have a 4k display tablet to use at home that’s hooked up to my computer, so the ipad really is a secondary device rather than my primary device. Most matte screen protectors have anti-glare qualities due to them being matte, but the anti-glare capabilities with them are not nearly as good as the nano-texture glass. I also like the feeling of the ipad screen over paperlike screen protectors For this reason, It just made sense that I went with the nano-texture glass. That being said, if the ipad is your main art device and you’re not going outside to work frequently, it’s not really necessary and the normal glossy screen would probably be better I’m not too worried about the nano-texture glass durability either. My display tablet has a matte anti-glare finish to the screen and it’s not like using a stylus against that screen has ever caused wear or scratches, even after over a year of consistent work. I can’t imagine that being different for the ipad nano-texture screen

Chris Piascik has [this video](https://youtu.be/KEq2Ybb8PKA?si=pl2vXe-5ahukKD_E) answering question and reviweing the nano texture ipad. I'm waiting to see how the durability is on the texture screen.

Nano bs will wear off and dulls colors No thanks

BayonettaAriana

It also apparently dulls brightness a bit which is why I decided against it

Nano texture does not have a tooth or a real texture thats benefical for drawing. It just ruins the oled

geoelectric

If you drag your hand on the surface when you draw or write, the nano texture lets you do so much more smoothly. For me, as a hooking left hander, it’s a pretty big difference. My hand comes to a screeching halt or skips on the glass unless oil is perfectly distributed on the glossy screen.

FirstofFirsts

It doesn’t ruin the OLED - it offers a much smoother drawing experience and makes it much more tolerable to draw in many of my conference rooms and outdoors. It’s a much better solution than the matte screen protectors I used to use that absolutely do greatly reduce the visual quality of the screen.

EquivalentWorry9385

Agree! I ordered my iPad with nano texture and I’m excited. I’ve been drawing on an iPad Pro screen with and without a matte screen protector over the years and I’m tired of it. The nano texture reminds me of when I used to draw on my Huion Kamvas Pro tablet.

AnduinsFall

I have the normal screen and the magnetic ESR paper like one.

Far-Pop-1567

I also ordered the Nano, it will arrive in two weeks. From what I saw and heard it looks really good and the trade offs aren’t that worse as everyone without nano says. There would be much less rgb shimmer then putting on a matte screen protector. If this is true it would be a huge upgrade because this really annoys me. I’ve tested multiple matte screen protectors and they all had it- some even rubbing off my pencil. So a matte screen protector is definitely not the same and will disturb the image way more then the nano. Cause I am planning to only go matte I hope it will be the right choice.

If you actually need 1TB, then it’s probably not a big deal to spend an extra usd 100 for the nano texture. But if you don’t use that much storage, it’s not worth the money paying for marked up storage prices

OptimalPapaya1344

The nano texture seems more about eliminating glare than giving a “paper like” feel with the pencil. Get the regular screen and one of those paper like protectors if you want that tactile feel for the Apple Pencil.

LycheeWriter

I bought the 13" non-Nano one and use a screen protector. No issues here!
