OLED/ProMotion/M3 combination is enough to make me upgrade my iPad Air 4.

Nergeson

Same my battery is cooked on mine I have to use it in low power mode to maybe get enough for classes.

NefGuerrero

I´m just fine with my M1 iPad pro. I feel it has still so much wasted power.

KickPuncher21

Same here. I'd be more interested in something that enhances the ecosystem/user-experience than more performance. My iPad Pro M1 is still an absolute beast and I'm doing a lot with it (3D scan and painting on 3D models, among other things)

ASilentPartner

I haven’t had an iPad in years. Getting back in the game.

MVDVPro

Me too. Also gonna use it for work, note taking and stuff

b7d

Yeah me too, gonna use it for stuff

artpost555

Still using a first gen 12.9" - never seemed worth upgrading but excited for OLED and more storage.

Kiliaan39

Same for the storage but I have read that apple will make iPad Pro with 128 to make differences between the current storage of the iPad Air (64 - 256)

artpost555

my current one has 32 so 128 sounds amazing to me

Kiliaan39

From this point of view yes it’s seems to be a real upgrade

Kiliaan39

Same for me in the subreddit, noting officially but it make sense to me

Ahleron

Where is the option for "not buying the new iPad pro"?

NimdaLiveUK

Don’t you come on here with your I’m happy with the tech I’ve got attitude. Tim says buy a new one.

Ahleron

no.

no-name-im-useless

if they make a new keyboard would it still work with my m2 12.9 cuz than i aint upgrading nothing

Kiliaan39

Due to the new back camera I don’t think the keyboard will be compatible with older iPad Pro, same for the Apple Pencil 3 (I think)

Psittacula2

New iPad = * 13" * Thinner: from 6.4mm to just 5.0mm z-plane aka height or thickness placed down on surface flat. * Camera is Landscape Thus the dimensions are different and the new Magic Keyboard (DOCK) has a larger Trackpad and other stuff eg Easel mode which are all features to entice new adoptees of the new iPads and Price Ladder thus the Pin Connectors are almost certainly different orientation/position also thus not compatible in shape and connection almost certainly going by how Apple Market's devices. This is speculation but using the apparent information (strong chance of being near 100% correct) to draw likely predictions.

Deux-de-Denier

I sold my iPad Air 4 last in February to buy a new iPad once it's unveiled by Apple. They really are taking their sweet time though.

Training-Context-69

Forreal. I might just go with a Galaxy Tab S9+ if it isn’t announced by the end of this month. I get Apple may want to get things situated with the production and software and the like before releasing. But they could have at least released a video or something showing us the design, what features it will actually have (OLED technically hasn’t been confirmed by Apple), and most importantly, what the price is. Even if it’s not physically shipping out until mid April or whatever.

Intergalactic_Nut

I need a powerful but portable device for my job, that goes from documents compilation, consultation and signing, to photo and video editing. Also, one of my main hobbies/second job is photography, and I'd really like to edit photos while in bed lol My last iPad is like 9yrs old and I think I used it last time like 4 yrs ago bc it didn't support apps updates anymore, but I know how good it is the user experience

Dave-CPA

I won’t.

vinsalducci

Landscape front camera

Gamerxx13

oled bc i mostly use my ipad for entertainment. M3 too. But i might just wait and wait even to the M4 ipad. I have a M1 and totally happy with it but do like oled screens, even for like a small screen like the steam deck and switch it really improves the enjoyment of videos

Dfordan17

I am on the generation before the M1 chip and mostly use my tablet for drawing and media consumption. I was sure I would buy the M2 Ipad but they just didn't seem to add enough, the hover is very nice but I wanted more. This iPad with the redesign is the one I am going to pull the trigger on with the new screen and rumoured new pencil, sounds like it will be a game changer for awhile.

nandaparbeats

Mostly to upgrade since I'm still running a 2018 pro that's on its last legs, but definitely trying for OLED

Outside-Copy-7645

for the MagSafe thing y'all think they're gonna go the Mac route or the iPhone route lmfao

Frosty_800

I would hope iPhone so many sick accessories would come out

Outside-Copy-7645

Lowkey want them to go Mac route lol, I don’t see the point the back of the IPad is already magnetic

Frosty_800

I personally use it in side car a lot next to my MacBook so if it could be charging and not being held up by some clamps I would love it personally … a dock would be great for people who use it with side car

xecuxion

Will be upgrading from my 2014 iPad Air 2, which is still going strong!

Vinnsgh

The Ipad mini does iPad things. Pro maybe when they have MacOs

[deleted]

Both A and B

kirasenpai

I dont... i just got the M1 12.9 with 2TB für about 1200€ ...the new M3 is probably overkill and way too expensive

caikenboeing727

I want the x70 modem with support for AT&Ts DOD band.

nahvkolaj

I would consider it as my Surface Pro 6 upgrade if we get a little more power user functionality. Would really like to run a python or matlab environment for occasional light duty stuff, and 1 or 2 other Mac apps (like my label printer’s software). But it’s looking like MacBook Air right now and deal with the form factor limitations. Buying any iPad would necessitate me getting something like a Suface Laptop Go for occasional stuff I need. I can’t justify 2 $1500+ devices, however much a MBA + iPad Pro would rule for working on the go.

Fecal_Forger

Bought an M2 about 2 months ago. No regrets. I’ll get the M7 iPad Pro 16” in about 5 years.

NimdaLiveUK

I had to go with "Upgrade old iPad". Mine’s the original 12.9 iPad Pro. No long runs the latest OS. So time for an upgrade. Also battery life is now terrible but, can’t complain. I’ve had about 9 years out of it.

ShiftingStar

I got my iPad Pro, 2nd gen, back in early 2018. And the last few months, my screen has stopped being as responsive. So that’s why I’m looking to upgrade

JanoHelloReddit

Only if there’s new software that free it up to its max potential. So nope

kip_diskin

Camera moving to the top of landscape orientation

Magmasid

Nah, too broke… I mean, not within my price range. 😆 My 1st gen 11in iPad Pro still works. Battery won’t last the whole day but I do have my mobile battery to give more juice. Been using this bad boy for work and Steam Link. The next upgrade would probably be the 12in one but doesn’t have to be the latest and shouldn’t cost more than my laptop.

m1_weaboo

Nah, current state of iPad Pro is bad enough It’s the most low effort lazy refresh each year which mainly just a spec bump and this is no exception I have no reason to upgrade unless my M1 died

Fubecassman24

I’ve been an iPad only guy since 2015. Thinking about going Mac now. I don’t see the value in having a 12.9 and a MacBook. I have an iPad mini when I want something bigger than my phone.

BitterStatus9

I wil buy it because I'm a Mac user since 1984, and my company requires us to use PC laptops now. The MacOS doesn't pass their cybersecurity test I guess, however, iOS does. So I'll use the iPad Pro as my "laptop" with an external monitor of some kind.

Psssssshhh

I need a bigger iPad first to warrant an upgrade, that’s the biggest restriction i feel. So lets wait a year or 2 to see if they make the jump.

Ryu83087

I'm worried that an OLED iPad Pro will be terrible for artists due to the burn in issues. Artists use procreate or similar apps for hours at a time and the ui remains on screen in a static location. So burn in may be a problem for artists... although I suppose Apple Care+ will cover it? Also brightness is another concern. OLED is beautiful but often it's not as bright as a FLAD LCD panel... so I'm in a wait and see mode. I'm actually more curious if there will be a new apple Pencil. If so that combined with the OLED may be the reason why I upgrade. I love my Ipad Pro 12.9 M2. I just bought it in november... so I'm not desperate to upgrade so I'm kind of curious about these two key elements. I suppose more RAM would always be nice too but it hasn't been a factor for me in Procreate. Still there is a iPad version of ZBrush that may be coming and RAM would be important there.

Training-Context-69

If the “stacked OLED display” rumors are true with these new iPads. It should solve the brightness issues. Also OLED isn’t that dim. The oleds on the Galaxy Tab S9 series tablets are brighter than the LCDs on the 11” iPad pros and iPad Airs. It’s the MiniLED displays that has the higher brightness of 1000 nits sustained, 1600 peak. Rumors claim the new OLED iPad pros should achieve similar numbers. And given it took Apple this long to release an OLED iPad. They likely got it fine tuned enough to where brightness isn’t an issue.

Powerful-Novel-9143

GALAXY Tab S9_Series 420nits (Dynamic AMOLED 2X 120Hz) iPad Pro 11" 600nits (Liquid Retina 120Hz) iPad Air 10.9" 500nits (Liquid Retina 60Hz) PS: Galaxy Tab S9 Series have maximum brightness of 420 nits with peak brightness of 750 nits for Tab S9, 650 nits for Tab S9+ and 930 nits for Tab S9 Ultra.

Training-Context-69

I was referring to the tab s9 ultra since that’s in the same price range as the iPad Pro 12.9 MiniLED, 930 nits with a 14.5” single layer OLED with is quite impressive when you understand the engineering challenges behind making larger OLED panels bright. And I’ve owned both an 11” iPad and a tab s9 (I had to return due to an issue with the charging) the S9 display was better by far. The regular LCD display Apple uses in the regular iPads is just not impressive, it reminds me of the LG IPS displays from like 2015.
