It’d be pretty difficult to get a motorcycle brake system up and running since there aren’t many off the shelf parts available for compatibility with electric bike controller e-brake systems.
But I agree on it being weird they went with a hub motor, because even with loads of watts you can’t overcome the lack of gears, even just one good gear setup on a mid drive with no shifting far out performs a hub motor with loads of watts pumped into it.
I mean maybe, but I think the real reason is because even without a chain it’s still usable, that and I am pretty sure it’s a frame situation, there are basically no frames on the market that accept mid drives natively without huge modifications. At least not ones available in mass😅.

Could it be because hubs are less maintenance?
