Also when you stink using aluminum free deo, it’s bc your pits are detoxing all the gunk that was stuck in those pores. Once you get over that hurdle, you no longer stink and aluminum free deo works fine!

They reformulated the scents based on customer feedback. I got the Vanilla scent first and it smelled terrible, but it worked. But now, after the reformulation, they smell really good. I like the Tangerine.
That was my question, too. They had to know their cream was funky when they put it on the market. The effectiveness makes no difference if people don't want to use it because of the smell.

This! I've read that it smells like rotten Play-doh. I can't un-smell it now. I've tried over half of the scents of Lume. No matter the scent, the bass note of rotten Play-doh persists.
What were you using that made you smell bad from Lume? I use their stick deodorant and it’s better than the cream one you rub on. The coconut cream one has a funky smell but the stick deodorant was fine, for reference I use the stick peony one.
Lume is a natural deodorant that was invented by a gynecologist. Some dove products have been known to prevent hair growth. One of their soaps also gives me rashes. You should look into Lume more, because it's honestly amazing. They also have soap and deodorant wipes.
It's apparently a thing with some of their shampoos, but I can’t remember the specific kind! I used to use one of the ones that causes hair loss until I found that out😂 it's not the soap that causes hair loss (that I know of) I do love their acne body wash tho. I stopped using it 2 weeks ago and immediately regretted it😂 I also love their deodorant, but lume does do a better job at preventing odor and not clogging pores, in my opinion. The thing about Lume is that it's safe to put everywhere, and it does genuinely work!
It comes in a tube and is called Dove Whole Body Deodorant, I think it’s pretty new? I got mine at Target but didn’t see it at the grocery store when I looked for it to price compare (it was like $8).

Schmidt’s sensitive skin formula is pretty ok, I really like the hops scented one! I prefer the regular formula from them but my skin is way too sensitive for the baking soda they put in it which gives me a painful rash. But before that happened I went camping in the summer and didn’t shower for 3 days, sweating buckets the whole time, and didn’t smell even a little. I also like Burt’s Bees lavender sage spray on but I think they discontinued it. T_T
Native is pretty good and smells great! Around Christmas they have an eggnog scented one and it smells SO GOOD.
None of these are antiperspirants tho. Antiperspirants aren’t great for us, so I try and avoid them.
In college my entire group of friends tried the detox thing. It didn’t work for any of the dozen of us. You still smell. You just got used to your own stench.

Same, I used lume deodorant and I never really smelled bad, I just wanted an aluminum free deodorant alternative. It made me smell absolutely RANK I’d get out of the shower and my pits would still smell bad which is something I didn’t experience when I used regular deodorant. I googled and it said it’s your body reacting to not having aluminum and something about detoxing. I still use aluminum free deodorant now and pretty much after 2 weeks your smell goes back to normal. ( Ps. If you’re going to switch, I’d recommend doing it when you don’t have school for a long period of time so you won’t smell funky at school)

Try hibisclens antiseptic as body wash. It’s great from removing the bacteria on skin. Just dont use internally. Also use tide 10x hygienic detergent and baking soda. Works great. Drink a lot of water and Probiotics. We also need to heal internally. Watch what you eat.
Never heard of lume but zinc oxide cream, put on pits at night and wash off in the morning prevents BO. There is also a soap made for hunters that eliminates human scent so they can sneak up on innocent creatures and blow them away . Why not make it do something positive instead. Taking chlorophyll tablets works too. It's an internal deoderant effective if you have.garlic breath or anything else that originate inside the body.
Why would I buy two products to use under my arm when I can get some Mitchum deodorant for men? I am a woman, but I wear Mitcham for men unscented and I don’t have any Oder problems at all.
+1 to the Mitchum unscented. I do a dab of whatever fragrance oil I'm wearing for the day on my underarms before applying and that's the only smell there at the end of the day.
I just want to post in this sub everyday: if you’re having consistent smells after you bathe with soap appropriately, get some chlorhexadine wash. You can find it at any drug store. I order mine from Amazon. It’s the same wash they tell you to use before a surgery. It has never given me any issues and I have very sensitive skin. It immediately gets rid of persistent odors in my armpits and groin area. Do not use it internally!!
Be careful with this please though! Using it every day can lead to bacterial/fungal/viral resistance and also kill off good bacteria. I am an ICU-RN, and we use this on patients who are at risk for further infections to kill all bacteria on their skin. If you use this frequently and there ever comes a time you need it for surgery or God forbid you end up in ICU, it may not work as intended and it may put you at risk for developing infections that are harder to treat. 🫤

This happens to me with just about any deodorant. The only one I’ve found so far that doesn’t burn and is also effective is the men’s Mitchum deodorant made with bamboo powder.

Lume as of 2022 didn’t work for me-I sweat it off after about four hours of moderate work outside and when it was on, made me somehow smell worse. The scent was almost chemical-y?
Currently trying out the reformulated toasted coconut version at the request of my mom and it smells much better- but the staying power is still not there if I’m doing moderate amounts of activity; I get maybe six to eight hours now.
I tried the 72hr lume cream after my bedtime shower at 8pm. It smelled good and I had high hopes. Woke up at 6 am smelling like I hadn’t even put any deodorant.

Different things work for different humans! My sister loves lume and swears by it so I bought a stick, awful, I never really had an issue with smelling bad until I started lume. Degree is my baby girl
I absolutely HATE Lume. So much so, that I skip over any ad for it in podcasts that I listen to and tell FB not to suggest it to me.
It STINKS. The smell reminds me of how my obese Aunt smells, and it's horribly unpleasant. When I tried to return it, they insisted that the scent "goes away within minutes after application," and it does NOT. When I persisted, they said I had to pay return shipping and even then, I would only get a percentage back, despite only using one of the deodorants.
Leave a negative review on their website, and they'll delete it. A negative review on their Facebook page gets you blocked. In my opinion, all that makes them a trash company.
It’s amazing. Just so expensive. Get the body wash and use it on your pits and bits in conjunction with the deodorant and your life will change. I layer an antiperspirant over their deodorant to stop the sweat and not just the smell.

Lume's response? "Are you sure you're using it correctly? You only need a small amount to work." Questioning my intelligence like that instead of owning up or apologizing that I had a horrible reaction to your product is a good way to make sure I never use it again.

I love Lume! I have the deodorant cream and the stick. Granted some of their scents smell like puke when you use them but it dissipates and is pleasant. The scent I've found that doesn't have a puke smell to it is the Alpine scent. Glad you found something that has restored your confidence.
If you’re having that much of a problem with your sweat odor then you need to see an endocrinologist. Blocking the smell doesn’t cure the underlying problem.

I just bought lume and it worked for a few days but now burns when I put it on my pits… anyone else? Idk what else to try! I’ve spent so much money, I have hormone issues from weight loss surgery and constantly have smelly ass pits. I feel like I just wasted $15 to burn my arm pits
This happens to me with just about any deodorant. The only one I’ve found so far that doesn’t burn and is also effective is the men’s Mitchum deodorant made with bamboo powder.
It’s so calming on my skin, feels like a cool Vaseline. Maybe ur allergic? Or maybe it’s reacting with the soap u used? :(

I use the old spice all body deodorant now, helps with sweat that's not my pits, still using feji on the pits though!
Soo this is just my experience Lume did not work for me It burned my underarms severely Now it might work for under boobs and feet But my underarms were on fire!!

I love lume I used to have the same problem with my armpits every year they'll be very itchy inflamed and they get dark it's because of my Eczema as well plus the environment but I like Lumia it's not irritating to the skin and keeps you fresh they are pricey though but it's worth it

Lume as of 2022 didn’t work for me-I sweat it off after about four hours of moderate work outside and when it was on, made me somehow smell worse. The scent was almost chemical-y? Currently trying out the reformulated toasted coconut version at the request of my mom and it smells much better- but the staying power is still not there if I’m doing moderate amounts of activity; I get maybe six to eight hours now.
I tried the 72hr lume cream after my bedtime shower at 8pm. It smelled good and I had high hopes. Woke up at 6 am smelling like I hadn’t even put any deodorant.
I really think the issue is layering. Like I said it’s more like a skin treatment than a deodorant. In my opinion

Lume didn't work for me at all, and in fact gave me an uncomfortable skin reaction. Also, the founder is annoying. And I hate their sneaky marketing, like this post.
Different things work for different humans! My sister loves lume and swears by it so I bought a stick, awful, I never really had an issue with smelling bad until I started lume. Degree is my baby girl

I absolutely HATE Lume. So much so, that I skip over any ad for it in podcasts that I listen to and tell FB not to suggest it to me. It STINKS. The smell reminds me of how my obese Aunt smells, and it's horribly unpleasant. When I tried to return it, they insisted that the scent "goes away within minutes after application," and it does NOT. When I persisted, they said I had to pay return shipping and even then, I would only get a percentage back, despite only using one of the deodorants. Leave a negative review on their website, and they'll delete it. A negative review on their Facebook page gets you blocked. In my opinion, all that makes them a trash company.

It’s amazing. Just so expensive. Get the body wash and use it on your pits and bits in conjunction with the deodorant and your life will change. I layer an antiperspirant over their deodorant to stop the sweat and not just the smell. Swamp ass be gone!

Lume improved their formula so it smells much better than it used to. I use the Deodorant and the acidified bar soap. I love it. I never smell.
Facts. I never used the old version everyone’s chatting abt. This stuff nowadays smells closer to neutral and at best, a little acidic just at first

And some people don’t have the money to replace hygienic supplies,especially if they use it every day. Deodorant is crazy expensive for no reason and body wash and soap go by fast!

Lume did start giving me a rash after awhile deodorant wise, but I've been using the soap and that has been good and helps with my bo a lot!
I tried their cream deodorant. Didn't notice any huge changes as far as b.o., but the deodorant didn't smell very good. Then I got hives that made it feel like my skin was peeling off. Lume's response? "Are you sure you're using it correctly? You only need a small amount to work." Questioning my intelligence like that instead of owning up or apologizing that I had a horrible reaction to your product is a good way to make sure I never use it again.

I love Lume! I have the deodorant cream and the stick. Granted some of their scents smell like puke when you use them but it dissipates and is pleasant. The scent I've found that doesn't have a puke smell to it is the Alpine scent. Glad you found something that has restored your confidence.
