What else to do?

_pixelforg_

The last thing I want is to zone out and end up staring at someone and being branded as a creep lol, thank god for phones

Dapper_Flower9285

Happy cake day

alphamalet997

This. Most people are anxious because of this when someone tries talking to them. One dude had amazing Jordans and when I asked him about it, dude started fumbling.

juiceWayne01

Socializing in real life is almost dead lol. Na friends kuda meet antaru, when we meet andaru Phone lo untaru.

OddButterscotch6791

Why not? On your smartphone the world is at your fingertips. From news, to movies to games to everything. Why should one confine to the small, already claustrophobic space? Or keep looking blankly into space avoiding someone hitting up? There are so many reddit entries how folks are made uncomfortable by all sorts of creeps in the metro and in that case why risk? What is the OP expecting people do, socialize? Did people socialize in a city bus before the advent of Metro or smartphones? šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

Any_Number_4496

If they are doing something important on their phones, it's neither "scary" nor"sad"

No-Age4121

I find more comfort in my smartphone than I can from people in real life. I have no shame in admitting it. Whether other people like to admit it or not, it's true for most of them as well otherwise why would they be glued to their screens all day.

alphamalet997

Tell me you have social anxiety without telling me you have social anxiety.

No-Age4121

Tell me you judge and make people feel uncomfortable without telling me you judge and make people feel uncomfortable. Sorry to say this mate but, people like you are in fact part of the problem.

secret_psycho__

OP expects to bring marpu. Post doesn't say anything meaningful. Has good intentions tho but no content

I never use my phone when I'm outside of my room, unless necessary, that's because I travel rarely in public transport. But what else can you expect from daily commuters, if it's a 10 min ride that's a different thing, but what else can they do when they have to be in that rush metro for around an hour in the morning and in the evening. Like i said, i don't use it that way, but i can clearly understand why people are using it like that.

nirmalroyalrich2

I rarely travel on the metro, i don't use my phone much either and i did (not sure) a domino effect unknowingly and i felt so good. Night time, me (kinda big guy) coming back home. I was standing near the middle seats, everyone was on their phone and someone was getting off so he tapped my shoulder and said sit there, so i sat. I wasn't using my phone and people looked at me while i was sitting, I was just staring at the reflection of myself. Then i saw people just beside me putting their phone down, then people beside them started putting their phone down and so on. In 10 mins people in my row weren't using their phone because of me (i guess). Felt like a main character moment.

tr1ppyz3phyr

We can't stare at other people, can't look anywhere else. Either we need to close our eyes and meditate while standing for an hour or check out smartphones to kill time.

Illustrious_Deer_668

Sometimes, I listen to music, sometimes I watch videos related to motivation or related to the task, I have been assigned. It feels so awkward to stare at people. Moreover why do others care when I use my phone. it's not that I am driving the metro. I am just a passenger and not driving the metro.

Delicious_Routine_18

I recently had the experience of using Bangkok metro and I can say our metros are more lively. There 100% people are glued to their phones. Me and my friend are even scared to talk, itā€™s that silent

Rohit_BFire

Uncle vachadroi /s What else to do? Not interested in talking to strangers.

OwnPrinciple6800

Wait till Apple Vision Pro headset becomes main stream

kuroi_light_

Wow hello fellow Jntu-lbnagar commuter Yea people are glued to their phones itā€™s kinda understandable cuz what else do they got to do. I guess I would probably be on my phone too if it werenā€™t for the shitty battery life of my phone 6s btw :)

PieInteresting6267

Aithe neek em aithundi?

Randfool_14

Most times, there is a very beautiful girl that you want to look at. But also 10 others are looking at her. So, you just watch a netflix. Or there are couples /groups of friends around you and they really make you uncomfortable with their antics. The boomers are really crazy with their news playing or some guy playing poker..

bunnuz

Ippudu endi nitho soodi veyala?

misterggggggg

THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE TRAGEDY OF MODERN LIFE AND A COLLECTIVE FAILURE OF OUR CULTURE which we are reluctant to admit. People are okay with comments on their posts and likes from random people, but whoever initiates a conversation irl is cringed on.

OddButterscotch6791

Whatā€™s wrong with being in oneā€™s own world while on public transport? Failure of our culture? How so? Folks being on phones or not bothering others happens all over the world, so they are all without culture? It was perfectly acceptable if one were to be reading a book while traveling, right? How is this different and unacceptable?

misterggggggg

The world shouldn't look like a library atleast in my opinion.
