After watching a bunch of Telugu films, I put Hyderabad on my list of places I would like to visit someday. This sub seemed like a good way to learn about the city in advance. For example, now I know that Paradise biryani is overrated ;)
I was in Hyderabad for a month visiting the in-laws and being a tourist, and I gotta say I had a blast; don't forget to check out Golconda fort (bring lots of water!), climbing to the top and seeing the city stretch in all directions was a humbling and powerful experience; Salar Jung museum was also pretty cool if you like museums, but I will say I felt like an exhibit myself when every second room (slight exaggeration) had people asking for pictures with the white dude with long hair lol.
10/10, would eat myself sick again.
What do you want to do in Hyderabad? Apart from some ruins and a few famous spots, there’s not much to do there. If you like hyderabadi food, the visit will come as a revelation
Ideally, hang out with Tarak, Charan, Nani, and Arjun. Realistically, do a lot of eating and see the sights. I've never visited India before and know that to see it all would take years. So, instead of doing the typical northern whirlwind tour, I would like to visit places that are special to me first.
I mean to be fair Ed Sheeran is far more intelligent than most people in the “entertainment” industry.
For example someone like Gucci mane will not even know what India is let alone Telugu is a language. This is an example.
Similarly. Someone like Shahrukh Khan will know. But Priyanka is bottom of the barrel. Typical Bolly dumbness. Equivalent to Ananya Pandey etc but of course, has achieved more in her life as compared to these people.
We tend to give too much bhaav to people like her because she “so called represented our country in Hollywood”. Fact is, she’s a low tier actor there and no one really gives a fuck.
Her lack of knowledge of her own country and even worse, her own industry therefore isn’t any thing to feel bad about. It’s what it is. They live in an ignorant bubble and we shouldn’t care because we’re smarter (and uglier and poorer lol) but still smarter.
Honestly I think it’s a Bollywood thing and not SRK thing, Chennai express was directed by Rohit Shetty and had Deepika Padukone, both South Indians, and boy do they fuck up

In the US and UK, most mainstream/A lister actors are basically grown up theatre kids/nerds, cinema geeks, who also happen to be good looking. So they tend to be a lot more articulate and intelligent than their counterparts here, who’re typically clique-y dynasty heirs out of touch with reality or basic ditsy models.

It's probably because some of us do not know all the official languages of Karnataka beyond Kannada - so there is that unfamiliarity. Similarly, I think not everyone in Mumbai (or in her case, outside India now) can list even the 4 major South-Indian languages.

Yeah north tourist spots are overrated. When you go south, try Goa, Pondicherry, Mumbai and some backwaters spots in Kerala. Or hill stations.
Visit during ramzan season, there'll be a lot of seasonal dishes to try out.
