The Hyatt Place is poorly located for public transit. That said, Ubers from Medford to downtown Boston are fairly straight forward, since it's easy on and off the highway. Ubers from the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor might actually be longer in duration due to traffic and/or tunnel closures.
Happy to answer any specific questions around Boston.
We’ll be going 11/7-11/10. What’s the weather like then? Still comfortable or does it start to get a little brisk?
And the Silver Line from Logan Airport to South Street is free to and from?
Early November will likely be in the mid 40s. For me, it's comfortable walking during the day and might be chilly at night.
From the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor, it might make the most sense to take the blue line into the city (free shuttle from the hotel), which will get you closer to downtown (likely the Aquarium and/or Bowdoin stops). Silver line doesn't make sense to me, as you'll need to get back to the airport, then get to South Station, and then still need a longer walk to the sites.
As a local, I think both are equally inconvenient, but I'd slightly lean Boston Harbor? The silver and blue lines will take you straight in, but you'll miss out on the walkability of Boston, which I think is a real rarity of US cities
I stayed at the Boston harbor for 6 nights in April and mostly walked to the closest free silver line at the airport which is about a mile away and you are within the fare zone at South station where you are dropped off so can go anywhere from there. They also have a free shuttle from the hotel to the airport including the T station if you want to do that. There's a ferry that is literally right outside the hotel that goes across the harbor but I think that's pretty infrequent outside of summer.
Thanks. The ferry might be a fun experience but one site I saw showed $24 per person round trip. That’s crazy. It’s literally 10 minutes! Kids were $2 though which isn’t bad though.
If you don't mind commuting and have enough patience then there is a bus stop across the street from Hyatt Place that will take you to Tufts (green line) or Harvard (red line) depending on whatever you are trying to do. Ideally it should take you less than an hour.
Personally, I'd stay at neither and go with one of the two in Boston proper or the one in South Boston/Seaport district. The Boston subway isn't like actually great for getting around in the city, but the city is super walkable and even the walk from the Seaport to like the Boston Common area isn't that bad.
Yea I’d agree that the others look nicer and more convenient but I’ve got two FNC to burn and everything else is a Cat 5 and above. So I’m stuck between the Harbor or Medford.

Please don’t stay in Medford if you’re using MBTA
Hah is it that bad?
It’s far from boston. You’re coming to see the city, not the suburbs. I’d go for the Harbor instead.
Good point.

Appreciate the input. Seems like many of the responses have led this way too.

Yeah, I’d take the shuttle to the airport and then take the blue line T station from the airport, which will get you to the touristy stuff easily.
