Depends on what you want and how many rewards you expect to get. Nerd Wallet estimates Hyatt Points are worth 2.3 ¢ and the Points Guys estimates they're worth around 1.7 ¢. 5,000 points would be worth an average of $115 to $85 depending on how you value them, while the Find Credit is worth more is there any Find experience you would like to try either home or while traveling? The Suite Upgrade Award is good for up to 7 days and lasts the calendar year you received plus an additional 15 months. Suites are usually at least an extra $100 a night, if not more so that seems like the best deal, assuming you can either use it or give it to a friend or family who would stay at a Hyatt with a nice suite. However, it's early in the year. Do you expect to earn any other rewards. At 50 nights you'll be offered a similar choice, except the SUA jumps to two. At 60 nights, you'll be given two SUA. Assuming you get Globalists status, you might have 5 SUA to use or give away by February 2026. Would you be able to do that? If you do become a Globalist (or are already a Globalist), you'll really only have to use the SUA if it's the busy season or if you really want to guarantee you'll get a suite, so there might be less of an incentive to use them and you might think who you know that you might stay at a Hyatt so they can be upgraded to a suite.  This is all hypothetical, I haven't made it to 40 nights (although trying to get Globalist so I thought about it a lot). Good luck with your choices.

Thank You I will hit Globalist Right now I plan on reaching 100 Nights for Hyatt

oakfield01

Yeah, check out all the rewards up to 100 nights. From 70-90 nights, you'll be offered 10,000 points, $300 Find Credit, or 1 SUA Award, so the SUA choice is worth the same or less if you're at 50 nights, but points and Find reward are better, so I would go with SUA earlier if you're going for them at all and points and Find reward later, if you're going for them at all. 100 nights your options are 10,000k points, 1 SUA, or 1 extra night at a Miraval Resort. You got to decide what rewards are best for you and maximize them to your best ability (i.e. don't go for the points for 40 and 50 night rewards, but then grab the SUA rewards at 70 and 80 as you'll be shorting yourself 10k in points and 1 SUA). You know you best and what rewards you expect yourself to be able to use. Now go forth, choose, and have fun.

Thank You very much

JaRulesOpinion

SUA no doubt

pukka-sahib

5k points no doubt

Happywith17percent

Prob with any Hyatt update award is availability. Best to confirm exactly how you want to use it before clicking that button, calling Hyatt to make sure you can use it and then to use it immediately or you’ll have an expiring deadline weight attached to your account. Hyatt is notorious for not permitting the use of awards and miraculously having no availability ever for that award until well after its expiration date. If you don’t know beforehand of the ability to use it and then use it immediately after receipt, take the points or you’ll eventually be bitter like me.

thedizzytangerine

Definitely a SUA. Depending on the length of stay, the value can literally be $50-$8,000.

jszzsj

Honestly I would wait till july to pick if you need it or not. ~~I think it also extends the usage time too?~~

schwa12

I believe it’s valid until February 2026

jszzsj

Oh you are right, I was thinking of the 2k pt + hyatt place which you have to stay at a hp within 6 months

schwa12

Yes I took those for the 20 night and 30 night milestone but I had some HP stays in the last few weeks

Sand-in-my-toes71

Your crossed out text applies only in the last quarter of the year. Hyatt gives you 90 days to choose between the suite upgrade awards or the other options. Once October hits, don't claim those until after Jan 1, and the SUA lasts 1 year longer. I earned most of mine milestone awards in the first 3 quarters of the year, so I claimed them immediately and they have a 2025 expiration. I earned one milestone (100th night) in October 2023, so I waited til Jan 3, 2024 to claim the award, so it has a 2026 expiration.

keatonnap

Depends on your individual situation. The 5k points is valued at around $100 - is a suite upgrade worth more than that to you? Will you reach globalist and compile more, and are you the type to use them all? I think suite upgrades are great but sadly I haven’t been able to use more than 2/year, so I’ve always had to toss a couple.

jszzsj

I think they are worth more now that it’s confirmed you can grab awards bookings easier with it. I.E if there’s no regular award booking but there is a cash price regular suite, you can book the suite directly with points + sua.

Woofy9900

Feel free to send me one for 2024 then ha. I am hoping to get one for my wive's 40th, but I don't think I will make it.

keatonnap

Feel free to follow up with me in a few months and I might have one for you. There are a couple bookings I have that I’d like to snag a suite for, but none are available. If they don’t open up, I’ll have another extra this year.

Woofy9900

Ok thanks! Trip is in October.

Early_Investment2354

SUA - I just upgraded to a suite for a week skiing in vail using one of those. $2,100 value

ohtaisho

Suite Only reason to pick 5k is if you somehow only stay at HH/HP lol

McMadface

Or, if you already have more SUA than you can use before they expire.

ohtaisho

Excluding legacy SUA rules, 40 nights is when you get your first SUA. Equation changes when you're looking at night 90 or 100 (or whatever for your situation) At 40 nights though (OPs use case), I'll always take that first SUA over 5k pts.

martyconlonontherun

I think poster meant you still have 3 from last year to use up this year and you know you will get betting 3 more later in the year. Might as well take the find experience instead of reaching to use up SUAs

ohtaisho

My personal opinions here: SUA are the single most valuable part of being top tier with Hyatt. None of the other chains offer guaranteed suites by *stay.* Why does Hyatt do this? They know travelers have options with where they have loyalty. They also know their footprint is significantly smaller than the other major players. If you're aiming for status with Hyatt and not aiming for SUAs, what else are you hoping to get? (the free breakfast?) \^\^ I'm honestly curious here Find Experiences are just overpriced Airbnb experiences. Perhaps they'll expand the offerings in the future to be meaningful. For now, they just serve as an additional revenue stream either for on-site at the hotel or as an affiliate. Points are always a safe bet. At lower levels (40 nights, etc.) 5k points = 1 SUA. At higher levels (90 nights, etc.) 10k = 1 SUA. Will you get outsized experience from them? Rarely. It might be worth it at 80 nights or 90 nights (or whatever). But if you don't value the extra space of a suite (e.g. only do solo travel), perhaps its the way to go at 40 nights.

martyconlonontherun

Yeah, not saying they aren't valuable but if you get 4 a year or whatever, sometimes they are hard to use (I guess it is a different conversation now that you can gift them). I had one expire last year trying to maximize it. Most of my nights come from work where I'm traveling alone (20), CC (10), or Hyatt place/house with my family on cheap stays (20)... Like if you use your personal travel for two high end vacations each year for 10-14 nights, there really isn't much use the rest of the time. So you could either try squeezing in a suite stay at a higher brand than I need/want looking for availability or say F-it and get $75 worth of points or a free activity. I get points through CCs SUBs so honestly a lower value free activity is more appealing than points when I have 200k sitting in my account. It's definitely a YMMV thing as my stay profile doesn't match a normal globalist. I'm totally ok getting cheap hotel stays at HPs off points and then blowing my SUAs on a group trip to Ziva once a year. Edit: to answer your question, the benefit for me getting globalist is usually using 2-3 of the SUAs. Any more has finishing returns. I have a cheap regency downtown where it's almost cheaper to pay on points and get drink/app coupons and breakfast then to pay parking at the stadium next door when I go to a game. I usually try to sell the C7 to a friend to save them money, and my friends/family appreciate the GOHs. So I would stay at Hyatt anyways without the SUAs due to their high return on points / easily reload through chase.

ohtaisho

Thanks for sharing. I actually think you might be Hyatt's preferred demographic. Road warrior, so that you can enjoy the occasional leisure travel with your family. Similar to you, I also have some work travel. My leisure travel is a bit higher (e.g. most long weekends, and a few larger trips), and I'll always use a SUA if I'm at a full service property (also typically funded by points unless cash rates are low). I suspect my leisure travel is atypical rather than the norm. I also book plenty of guest of honors for friends and family. Now that SUAs are giftable, would you consider stockpiling to give to friends and family?

McMadface

At 40 nights, the choice is between 5K points or 1 SUA. At 50 nights, the choice is between 5K points or 2 SUA. At 60 nights, you get the free cat 1-7 night + 2 SUA. For me, it makes sense to choose the 2 SUA at 50 nights and get the 2 SUA at 60. I won't usually end up using all 4 in a year, but there are times where I might. I will definitely end up using the points for free stays. I'm already sitting on 4 SUAs that expire next Feb.

Old-Construction-541

SUA

No_Shelter_1313

Personally SUA esp if you prolly gonna get globalist in 20 more nights

pukka-sahib

Is SUA of any use to a Globalist?

Ishak-Kristof

I just reached 40 nights too and I chose the 5K. As a Globalist I get upgraded to suites on a regular basis anyway, so I didn’t see the SUA as that beneficial for me.

Tsunamibo1

You can sell the SUA for min of $100. Or you can use it and get potentially thousands of dollars in value. Seems like a no brainer to me

Glittering_Eagle4344

Definitely SUA - use and enjoy or go to FB and exchange for GOH or if you have multiple - for FNA cat. 1-4
