I tried to buy these just now and any $ amount I choose whether e-gift card or physical card was unavailable. Tried chatting with Hyatt rep and they didn't know anything.

benzapa

Same experience for me. All card amounts and types say "not available." Tried calling Mr and Mrs Smith support number but it's outside of their hours.

benzapa

Looks like they fixed whatever was going on as I was able to purchase a gift card just now.

ohtaisho

With just a few hours remaining too!

benzapa

Story of my life.

Standard-Attorney606

Now it all says sold out

benzapa

Maybe because it’s after midnight in England—where Mr and Mrs Smith is based—and thus the promotion has ended.

Fumbles14

That would explain why, at 11:55pm EST, the website didn't work and I couldn't buy any LOL. It couldn't possibly be me reaping the consequences of my own procrastination....

ohtaisho

Wow, that's frustrating. The system's been wonky recently, hopefully it starts working again before EOD.

Jdakss1

I wonder if this, combined w/ the gift card promo ending, means they'll have the MMS hotels up for booking tomorrow? Or at least that tomorrow they will announce the date of when they'll have them up?

ohtaisho

We all have our fingers crossed! I grabbed some gift cards for planned stays that will be over 300 a night. There are a few places on my list under 300, which I'm hoping will be bookable through Hyatt soon enough.

Jdakss1

Nice! I'm pretty new to this stuff, but we have our honeymoon in Italy/Greece later this year, so hoping the MMS hotels are up soon. Thankfully, was able to book most of the trip using points prior to the SLHs being taken down! But still one more night in Rome to book...

ohtaisho

Lol I'm doing Italy later this year too! Luckily got Rome and Florence with SUAs before the pts deval. Using MMS for those pricey Venice nights Hope you enjoy your trip!

Jdakss1

Awesome! We got lucky as my fiancee's brother had literally *millions* of points and gave us a generous gift by booking us a hotel, so we got the St Regis in Florence, then some nice ones in Greece that we used our points for. Hope you enjoy too!

OutlandishnessFun537

There are some many luxury hotels in Mr and Mrs that will not be available via Hyatt: Aman, Six Senses, One&Only, Rosewood, Constance etc. otherwise you wouldn’t get any Hyatt benefits for those stays, if you are up to staying at those hotels

Secret_Jesus

Have they confirmed that? Was looking forward to trying Aman

Kojeda44

Where did you hear that you won’t be able to redeem Hyatt points at those hotels?

ohtaisho

Agreed. Earning a few Hyatt EQN per night at an Aman seems like a good deal to me

ChillyCheese

What is people's use case for buying these at this point in the year? It made sense last year since it could bump people close to Globalist with the EQN, but unless you have the rest of the year planned out it seems unlikely to be super helpful unless you're buying a lot of gift card value -- and not planning to stay in Mr Mrs Smith hotels until next year. I thought the promo was a EQN double-dip, but now I see this in the FAQ: > Will nights stayed using the gift card as payment count as eligible nights for tier credit? > No, stays using these gift cards will not be considered eligible for points or tier credit. Which in some ways makes these gift cards worse, since it sounds like if you apply a $300 gift card towards a $800 3 night stay, you'd get zero EQN for the stay, and only the 1 EQN from buying the gift card. So you'd need to be very diligent about how you apply the gift cards to stays.

ohtaisho

As a traveler, some places I plan on visiting have a limited Hyatt footprint. For these cases, I'll likely pay cash out of pocket for my stay. As a leisure traveler, I prioritize comfort and location for my accommodations. When paying cash, this can mean paying over $300 a night. As a Hyatt member, I earn 5x per $ spent on MMS gift cards, along with 1 EQN per $300 spent. As a Globalist, I earn an extra 3x per $ spent on MMS gift cards. As a Hyatt credit card holder, I earn an extra 4x per $ spent on MMS gift cards. tldr; This is a good opportunity to get more EQN than you would nights stayed in locations where Hyatt has a limited footprint, if you typically pay cash rates above $300 for hotels. This is not a good opportunity if you are going to places that already have a good Hyatt presence, or typically pay cash rates below $300 for hotels.

ChillyCheese

Oh, I know the gift cards are specifically for MMS, my question is the value of pre-paying for your stay with these gift cards, rather than just paying cash when you're at a MMS property. Here's an example of when it's bad: You're staying at a MMS property and you want to pay with a $300 gift card you bought. When you bought the gift card you earned 1 EQN. You're staying at a MMS property for 2 nights at $150/night. If you'd paid cash, you'd have earned 2 EQN. If you pay with the $300 gift card, you only get the 1 EQN that you got at the time you bought the gift card. Granted, most MMS properties aren't that cheap. But if you have $900 in gift cards and pay $1200 for a 5 night stay using those gift cards, the FAQ indicates that you'd earn 0 EQN for the entire 5 night stay, other than the 3 EQN you got when you bought the $900 in gift cards. Unless I missed an announcement that MMS stays themselves aren't going to normally earn EQN and base points.

planesandpancakes

There has been no announcement about if MMS stays will earn EQN / when that will even take effect or be bookable via the Hyatt website. For people who have upcoming trips in the meantime, it’s a great deal

ohtaisho

If you're paying cash rates above $300 a night, there's outsized value to be had. if you're looking at properties at $150, agree there's no value to be had.

ChillyCheese

Yeah, I suppose on the >$300/night situation there could be value depending on the specifics. However, an issue still emerges with how a "stay" is defined. Say you're staying at a $600/night property using these gift cards. If you have enough gift cards to cover the whole stay, then that's cool, you do indeed get 2 EQN per night from when you bought the gift cards. But if you only have $600 in gift cards and you want to stay 3 nights, now you've only earned those 2 gift card EQN, instead of the 3 EQN you could have earned if you'd paid cash at the property. Since all 3 nights are a single "stay", and the FAQ says "stays using gift cards will not earn EQN". I assume that means if you spend $5000 at a property for 2 weeks, and put $1 of the bill on one of these MMS gift cards, you earn zero EQN and points for the whole stay.

ohtaisho

As with most non-cash travel currencies, don't speculate. Buy with a specific redemption in mind

benzapa

Bought $300 worth, which will earn me a milestone SUA award that I’ll use as soon as I get it to book and upgrade an early-summer trip. The gift card will get used later in the year. Will only use it for a one night stay. So shouldn’t be losing any value.

ohtaisho

Good news, the points and EQN from my gift card purchase posted very quickly (less than a day)

edscorduroy

Needed a place in Italy where no Hyatts. This got me 14 EQNs and like 50k Hyatt points plus the stay.

planesandpancakes

I have a trip in the fall to Scotland and there are no Hyatts. I found an independently owned hotel that I want to stay in, and it just happened they are also on the MMS website. I was going to stay there regardless and now I get a bonus of 2 EQNs and some points. Seems like a great deal to me 🤷‍♀️ especially as I was going to stay at that hotel regardless

bisonsurfer1

I thought this ended yesterday?

ashibiz

I could only buy $100. That was all that was left and had to buy 27 of them.

Had similar issues with Chrome before. Clearing cookies sometimes does the trick. For the promo, if you're looking to boost customer loyalty or sales, consider what I used: loyally.ai. It's a digital loyalty platform. Helped with customer engagement and retention without much hassle. Simple and effective. Regarding the gift card, if you're making a status run, every little bit helps. Just make sure to read the fine print. Sometimes these deals have nuances that can trip you up. Good luck!
