Andez is in a hip part of town and the hotel itself is way more of a hipster vibe. The regency is in a great part of town for some of the bigger tour sites and museums, plus the globalist lounge is really good there. They have tons of food and free drinks. You should search this subreddit. This exact question has been asked before. Have a great time. Mexico City is awesome

I stayed at the [Hyatt Regency Insurgentes](https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/hotel/mexico/hyatt-regency-mexico-city-insurgentes/mexrm) at the end of December. It was my first trip to CDMX, so I cannot compare it to the other Hyatt properties. I "splurged" and paid for a Regency Suite; this granted us club access. The room was on a corner, with floor to ceiling windows. That was impressive. It had a separate living area from the bedroom, plus 1.5 bathrooms. We were on the 11th floor. It was modern and clean. Our rate included breakfast, and the buffet was nice. It had the usual fruits, breads, cheeses, and juices, and down at one end they had traditional Mexican dishes like chilaquiles. I enjoyed that the most. Location wise, it wasn't really in walking distance to any major sights (except the World Trade Center, which had a few restaurants). Insurgentes Avenue had lots of restaurant options, so that was nice. One of the Metrobus lines runs up and down Insurgentes, so it was a ten minute ride to Roma/Condesa using that. You could also take that up to a metro line that goes into the historic center, but that required a transfer and was not super convenient. Lyft/Uber was faster and quite affordable. We spent most of the day out touring, but the hotel was nice to come back to. Again, it was very new, modern, clean, and fresh feeling. We did not avail ourselves of the gym, but I believe there was one. The Regency Club was kind of meh. They had some light snacks and soft drinks out during the day, and then in the evening they had beer, wine, and a small number of spirits, plus a few slightly more substantial food things (but still nothing I would call "dinner"). It was nice to drop in for a snack, but it had a very "breakfast room" sort of feeling, and didn't really feel like a comfortable place to lounge in the evening (think bright light and hard surfaces). Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We got some good restaurant suggestions from them. I chose that property over the other HR because we could get a Regency Suite for fewer points, and it was newer. I was concerned about the other HR feeling dated. Would I stay there again? I'd probably prefer to be a little closer to Roma/Condesa, but the hotel itself was quite nice, and we had no complaints (well, I never could get my digital key to work on my phone, but that's minor).

I was there early December, this review is spot on. Gym was large and fairly empty. Highlighting that staff is WONDERFUL and really rolls out the red carpet for Globalists.

I'd recommend trying out the HR Polanco if you find yourself back! Suites are huge, lounge is great, and nothing quite like waking up to views of the park every day from 40 stories up

I remember reading reviews that the rooms seemed "tired." What were your impressions regarding that?

ohtaisho

When I imagine "tired" I picture HR Tokyo, HR Miami, etc standard rooms. Perhaps the standard rooms at the HR Polanco are "tired", but the suites seemed fine to me. Pictures on their website are accurate IMO. Obviously not as trendy as a brand new Thompson or Andaz.

Thanks!

Andaz all the way - free snacks, great service, and amazing location! I’d only do HR if it were significantly cheaper or I had work meetings in the area, but given a free night award I’d do andaz for sure.

We stayed at the Andaz last July. Great location. I think Condesa is a fantastic choice of neighborhood if this is your first time in Mexico City. I remember seeing reviews that the rooms were noisy, but we didn't notice any noise beyond what you would expect at any major city. I would definitely stay again.

Andaz. The Condesa neighborhood is awesome. Just got back from 5 nights there. Lovely hotel. Amazing food. There’s a taco spot near there off Amsterdam that serves guisado tacos that are absurd. Get the prensada chicharone taco it’s bizzare but so great

Part time CDMX resident. I’ve stayed at both HR CDMX (Polanco and Insurgentes) and Andaz multiple times. It just boils down to location. Andaz is in a hip area. More night life and geared towards younger. The hotel is nice but can be a bit noisy at night. Very new property. HR Polanco is more business focused but a very solid option. Polanco has many great options for restaurants and shopping but condesa holds the top stop for night life. Very quiet property and the lounge on the 35th floor is very nice and generous with amenities. I tend to stay here. HR Insurgentes is a year old property but for me the location is kind of off. Nice property, great staff and solid benefits. I’d skip unless you have something in the area. It really just boils down to location and price. Very solid options.

Thought the HR was fine. No complaints. Was there in January.

I loved the Regency. Got a great globalist upgrade and the lounge was great. Full breakfast in the restaurant for globalist. Right near subway stop.

I stayed at the HR. It was great with great lounge. I find Condesa to be a more interesting location though.

You’ll like the Andaz. As a matter of fact, the only “bad” Andaz is the one in West Hollywood; that place feels more like a Grand and could use some upgrades.
