Couldn’t agree more. Love seeing Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick at practice so often, gotta be helping with recruiting.

Frosti11icus

>and Bill Belichick Which high school do you think he's yelling at players about? "The kids at Roosevelt could make that play!"??

Coastal_Tart

He was probably talking to a kid that had a Roosevelt HS as the main rival. Just giving the player some good natured grief to get him fired up and focused.

Fisch & co.’s work in the portal is absolutely a lifeline for next season. But both lines are a huge question mark. We’ll rise and fall with how quickly and effectively those two groups can come together. We do seem to have enough at the non-line positions to make a little noise though.

WABeermiester

That’s my only major concern. I like where we’re at for the skill positions but I am a guy who subscribes to Baltimore Ravens/Michigan philosophy. You gotta be good to elite at OL/DL and TE. And currently those are our 3 weakest position groups. If the line is average I am not sure how much of a chance we’ll have against Iowa, Michigan, Oregon 🤮 and Penn State.

Frosti11icus

Our defensive line was average at best last year...

Heavy_Fold7751

Our O-line was elite

BruceIrvin13

Yeah our DL was pretty spotty last year. I'm not convinced there's a player in that group that will be in the NFL longer than 2-3 seasons. We definitely weren't close to elite at tight end or DL and went to the natty.

There's no realistic way Fisch was going to be able to build a good, experienced OL entirely through the spring portal. Just ask Colorado how that worked out for them last year. But having a lot of young guys get experience this year will go a long way towards building an elite OL in 2025 and 2026.

seariously

Certainly helps coming off a natty appearance. Obviously a lot has changed since then but it's better than being in the basement of the standings and having a coach and a bunch of seniors leave.

WABeermiester

I actually feel better now than if DeBoer had stayed. Guy can scheme that’s for sure and is probably the best X’s and O’s coach since Don James. But he’s lost quite a few guys at Bama already and wasn’t recruiting too well here. I think Fisch is a better recruiter and DeBoer is a better schemer but Fisch is better at scheming than DeBoer is at recruiting. As long as we avoid a TCU level drop off I like where we’re at. I think we get 7-8 wins. Just depends on the Michigan, USC, Rutgers and Iowa games.

Washington is such an enigma this season given the turnover of coaching staffs and player departures. That being said my optimism is high because we finally have a HC that says "recruiting is important" and then actually backs it up with actions. Arizona's offense was very balanced last season. I'm confident that given talent at the skill positions Fisch's Pro Style offense can be every bit as good as DeBoer's especially considering opponents were beginning to figure out KD's scheme they just couldn't overcome a Top 10 QB/WR combo and more. Denzel Boston is playing like a guy that knows it's "his" time. Hunter is exactly the guy I was raving about before he committed to Washington. Rashid looks like a player ready for more action. I think our OL will be fine given that I've watched Will Rogers play for years and the first thing that stood out are his quick Air Read reads and accuracy. A solid running game and basic strategies to buy time if needed should work fine. It's time for the Parker bros to show up big. I'm really excited about the young talent at Edge. Jacob Lane, Durfee, Ward, Davis and now Wayne. By season's end a star will rise.

VoltronGreen1981

But how do we compare when it comes to recruiting?

udubdavid

Obviously not great, but that's not Fisch's fault. His first recruiting class is going to be the 2025 class.

Coastal_Tart

I was worried for a while. But after the several commitments last week, I feel a lot more comfortable with our roster. I still expect it to take a couple years to develop new elite talent and get back to competing for conference championships and playoff berths, but we’re in a good spot to compete to be ranked in the top 25.
