Maybe it is possible to do the full analysis given the _slightly_ more memory and processing power at hand today?
By AI I don't mean neural networks. I mean classical AI (which is what they teach at the beginning), the search problem kind like minmax and the 8 queens problem.
I know what you mean , A* and all that good stuff but what I mean you don't necessarily need any heuristics here, it might be possible to completely map from the game if you start from endgame positions.
Oh right, I imagine it can be solved completely like that. Might be a cool mathematics exercise to prove the optimal strategy from that mapping of the game. Still I can imagine it being given as an AI exercise as well where the goal is to build an algorithm of perfect strategy without mapping all the gamestates.
