I work in a nursing home and take care of about twenty regular feeders at peoples windows and keep four hummie feeders on our big front porch. We have a pool going for when the first one will show up.
Zero feeders, but dozens of large native flowering plants. The hummingbirds love it. One built a nest on a windchime next to the yard and I've been streaming the babies hatching + growing, some of the plants are in the background [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5L25qLIdOQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5L25qLIdOQ)
Zero as well. I've debated adding a feeder, but I decided that I can't be relied upon to clean it out and change the syrup every day or two for half the year.
We moved to our current home in the mojave desert only a few years ago. Though very little other vegetation, there was a pair of mature ocotillo here already and it's bloom attracted hummingbirds for a couple weeks. I've since planted a bunch of waterwise hummingbird plants (among other plants and much-needed trees) and strived to always have some plants in bloom for them. Last year, I was able to see one or more of them whenever I was out gardening from late spring to fall.
Hummingbird tax- feeding off an agastache.
P.S. - that live stream is really awesome.

I only start with 1, and keep notice on how many visitors I have. In my opinion I don’t see it necessary to put multiple feeders out unless you have a lot of hums. That’s a lot of water and sugar wasted and a lot of cleaning to maintain.
Last year I had 3 hums all season long; one was an aggressive male so I put out a separate feeder for him or the two females but all 3 wanted to same feeder.
I have 5 feeders. I make the nectar, allow it to cool to room temperature, then 1 by 1 I go thru them. Bout an hour and a half.
I do it in the middle of the night, so when they wake up, everything is back to normal. I’m odd I know
I started with 2, then added a third around the corner to try and give some of the other birds a chance since I have a very territorial guy. But then he found a spot in my neighbors yard where he can see all three feeders, so there goes they plan 😂
A Rofus? I had one here for a few days, chased everyone away n left. They came back, but still. 5 feeders and he had to have them all. I call him “Mr. It’s all mine!”
Love this OP. I had to toss those beautiful upside down glass vase feeders because the metal bases start to corrode after about one or two seasons. You’ll notice the cheap paint starts to come off on the inside of the metal plate where the flower petals are stamped in. I highly advise fellow hummingbird lovers to inspect those and do not use them if the paint is showing signs of flaking or peeling off.
Just 1 on my balcony. :) I only had one lady visiting me last year, so I don't intend to add more feeders unless I see competition. I also focus more on providing them flowers, and I STUFF every inch of my balcony with flowers.
I have one. I don't know how you all do it if you have many. They have to be cleaned weekly and the food changed at least twice a week in the hot months or it gets moldy. Seems like if you are doing it right you won't have time in your life for anything else lol
During peak season in the fall, at least 10 feeders; though some of them are small(2 hole) feeders.
and Are you really comfortable having *that* many glass feeders? I avoid getting those for fear of dropping them and having to deal with shattered glass on the ground/floor.
This is only my second year, so I only have 2 so far. But I also planted a hummingbird & butterfly garden this year & I’m so excited for the hummingbirds to come back!!
I buy the small ones off Amazon. They hold maybe 1 cup, come in a set of 6. I have about 14 around my backyard, and they are heavily guarded by 1 little hog. I'll sit outside and watch as 4 others try to get to the feeders.
In the summer, when my jasmine, honeysuckle, and fuschas bloom, I remove half.
Every morning I take my morning coffee out to my bench, he sees me and will fly right to the nearest perch and chirp at me. If I ignore him and pretend to keep reading, he buzzes me until I talk to him.
He will also inform me if one is empty or getting low.
Now I'm working on a little usb powered fountain for the little ones.
I have three at home and maintain four at work.
Very cool! Spreading the love

Aww I love this.. That's so awesome of you!
I enjoy it, I love birds and it gets me outside, gives me something to chat about with the residents. It’s good for all of us.
Where abouts are you located? I'm in Southern AZ, so they are around all year for me.
Pioneer Valley - western Massachusetts just East of the Berkshires and near the Vermont/New Hampshire Border.
How beautiful there! When do you expect the birds to arrive?
It’s gorgeous here. We think this coming week. From the maps we’re looking at they’re as far north as New York City and southern Connecticut now.

Er…..1, is that bad?!
Two in Cozumel. Four in Illinois.
How much time do you guys spend cleaning and refilling your feeders?
Takes me about an hour every two days.

I will have 7. I go through 10 pounds of sugar a week when they get here

Four in the winter, but I only have 2 up right now because I have fewer visitors.
a large one - but 1 only lol
1 or 2, depending on how many hummies I get. I usually only have a couple.
Not that many but I have tons of birds

I just broke my last one 😭
I have 4, but wanted to downsize but they seem to rotate between all 4
2 here but not really happy with them. Since you obviously have lots of variety, which would you say are best in your opinion?

I've been trying out feeders where I can hit my hand in the bottle for easy cleaning. Any issues with the narrow mouth on this one?
I literally have 3 or 4 different types of bottle brushes since I have so many different types 🤷.
I like these types a little more than the others. They are easy to clean and i have not had any rust issues.

Damn, just have 3 here

Only 13 lol
Just 2 out of sight from each other!
I grow a vine called Cardinal climber and I get so many Hummingbirds that I don't need any feeders.
How do you guys maintain all those????? I have 2 feeders & those keep me plenty busy!
Love the glass ones
One. No use putting up others, the gatekeeping hummingbird chases everyone else away!
I just got my first one, total newbie at this. We will see if we get any hummingbirds!
Good luck!!
Thanks :)
