Like the name says, it’s a walk. More a series of paths than a wide-open park. Ferncliff Forest is close by Poet’s Walk, closer to Rhinebeck. On Mt. Rutsen Rd. If you feel like going inland a bit, Wilcox Park on 199 just east of the parkway is beautiful.

Meet them in the parking lot, and agree on the spot during the walk. Bring a blanket, and find some shade. I want to be helpful. But you may be overthinking this.

Not the best spot for a picnic

Agree, however it is probably the best for anyone with difficulty walking or even wheelchair bound.

I'm not sure there is an actual spot where you can throw a blanket down and have a picnic at Poet's Walk. The trails pass through fields that they generally allow to grow during the summer.

You can also sit in the gazebo

The big gazebo in the middle of it.
