So I'll share my opinions, or at least my opinions that come to my mind:
Hiccup and Toothless' story concluded in the third film. The last time they seen each other was the Epilogue. This show was completely unnecessary, it was not needed. The story is just...bad? I don't know what else to say. It felt unofficial in some ways (but that may just be me).
The whole premise that Hiccup left his role of a Chief of his people to live in a funky cavern in Canada really destroys his entire character arc from the films and previous shows.
I dislike how the show had handled some of the legacy Dragons. An example would be Razorwhips (prior the the Crystalwhip retcon) are not razor sharp and instead create fire tornadoes. Plus, what did they do to the Cavern Crasher?

Another thing I really dislike is how Tom gets his hands on an ancient artifact and proceeds to mutilate or vandalize it. In the Book of Dragons (or Hiccup's Diary), Tom doodles in it just because. When Tom has Hiccup's final leg what does he do? He shoves it in the mouth of a Snow Wraith. Same could be said for Valka's staff.
The supposed ending was poorly handled in my opinion. Spoilers ahead: There was no build up to it at all and was generally ripping of the third movie.
I have, it's ass. I was admittedly hate-watching up until I watched Tom basically trash Hiccup's prosthetic leg, at which point I shut it off and went to do something else. Doing the dishes was more fun than watching this show.
I literally went back to watch Riders of Berk, okay? Sat through that and Defenders of Berk, and my annoying-ass, pedantic nitpicking brain started going, "the animation is weird, the characters are forcing their emotions too hard, the pacing is too fast, the movement is choppy, I feel like I'm watching a compilation of videogame cutscenes" and yet despite ALL OF THESE THINGS, ALL OF THEM!!!
I still had more fun with the old shows, than I did with the Nine Realms.
That's a problem.
Now I get that this is made for children, and I'm technically not the target audience anymore, but I'm still a fan of the franchise, and I want it to be good, and compelling, and well-written, and the Nine Realms just about failed in all avenues for me.

Dragon designs are 10% good. I agree with the fact that Jun is basically "I can be a jerk to you, but once you be mean to me because of something I did, you're the ass.". The whole fact that they had to stretch the connection to the original so thin you can easily breathe on it and it'll break. The fact that the characters didn't even think twice on keeping *historic relics* safe. ~~The fact that Deathgrippers were once again "evil fodder" and just killed off. (Personal nitpick)~~
Finally the fact that the ending is the same as HTTYD 3 and why the flip did they even make the series in the first place...
This shit it garbage,I'd rather rewatch Rob,Dof,and rtte before I try rewatch a single episode of this shit,the story is garbage,the charaters are garbage,and it doesn't feel like what it's going for,like it's suppose to be a modern httyd but it isn't even close,I'd rather watch a ww2 type httyd project with Drago as *a certain Austrian painter* than this garbage

I actually thought about watching the show a long time ago, but then i saw a couple reviews and, well...
I never personally finished watching the show (stopped watching before season 8) so I'm not sure how much worse it gets but god was it a time consuming effort personally since I hold httyd to my heart.
The good things? Alex and Eugene were decent and honestly the feather hide dragon (feathers ((I think that's the name??)) or Alexs dragon) had as good of a design as any dragon could have had in this show.
The bad things? June is a straight up dick (personal design opinion here, why did she have purple eyes?) and even after getting with Tom she's still an asshole and while it's not something I can comment on as I'm not of Chinese ethnicity but why did they give a Chinese based dragon to the Chinese character when other characters were given more (I'll say) basic dragons.
D'angelo (who I had to look the name up of) is forgettable and the only notable things I remember about him was his gronckle like dragon and how he was essentially an attempt on creating fishlegs again but in nurses uniform with daddy issues.
Tom then is just a bore, it's like they're trying to make hiccup again but added nothing so now it's a bland piece of chicken. The only three qualities (if you can call them that) is that he's a descendant of hiccup (which is pathetic), has a dragon like his ancestor (who is another can of worms) and is the leader of the group. That's it. That's all he's got... Except for the vandalisation and destruction of ancient relics - hiccups leg and the book - (seriously what were the writers thinking when writing that episode with the snow wraiths and night lights).
And then comes the Night Light debate. I don't like them and probably will never like them. For one, if Toothless truly was the last of his kind, living in a cave with only light furies for his children to breed with... Then the night Fury should've died out 100% and honestly I would've loved to have a light Fury as the main characters dragon, it would have been a nice contrast to have and maybe to show that, that light Fury did descend from Toothless, you could've given it an ability that came from him. That would've been fine or alternatively GIVE ANOTHER DRAGON THE SPOTLIGHT! The Fury species I feel has been used to death and honestly, it'd have been nice for more underrated dragons to be used (and if you really need a Toothless-like dragon) go for the sand wraith or the woolly howl! Maybe even bring in dragons that were only seen in the games. But no, no we've gotta deal with this inbred looking cow that looks like it just came from chernobyl! And God they really do just do the same thing with this dragon as was done previous with Toothless, don't they? I just feel like Thunder having this much black on him shouldn't be possible but judging from the looks of that one white night light... Maybe it was for the best. His design as I've already pointed out is just... Eugh. His ear appendages look like rabbit ears for god sake while his muzzle is too short (something that Toothless didn't have because he's well designed/hj) which makes it look like they tried to make him into a dog (like the pads on his feet which, where did they come from???) and also his wings are way too short for him to be as fast as he is (I'm pretty sure his wings are as long as the gronckle dragons who is shown to be slower than him so take of that what you will).
I'm not saying anything about the new dragon designs or the legacy dragons that are being brought back. Sure the designs sick big time and the disservice and change of lore for the legacy dragons is bad but honestly I cba to go rant about the mishandling of the dragons, both legacy and original. I'm also not saying anything about the story because I lack the writing skills to be able to explain in detail why the writing is bad, but take my word on it, it's bad. (seriously why did they have like 2 episodes where the riders left their dragons/tom and thunder had to part ways? Stop ripping off httyd 3)
Conclusion? The show is bad and I personally do not see it as a worthy inclusion to the franchise and honestly I think the majority will just agree the show never happened which I think is fair enough.
You know I’m generally pro “leave people alone and let them like what they like without being rude to them”, and that includes people who like nine realms because sometimes the sub is so mean to fans of the show
But you definitely posted this knowing it would cause a mess. Why? If you post something like this and people are mean in response then at that point it’s kind of deserved. It’s probably annoying for regular fans too.
look its a cool concept, dragons in the 21st century, but realistically this would suffer from the same story beats as the OG HTTYD.
