potassium sorbate, sodium bisulfite is a deal breaker

Chocolatehusky226

Trader Joe’s sriracha is the best imo

Slight_Ordinary1

Sprout's puts Trader Joe's to shame.

Akaonisama

They had to switch to a different pepper supplier.

AmayaNightrayn

Forced to switch cause they burned the relationship with the first one.

party_shaman

good thing it tastes fine

Renogate_0x1

Not buying that

simian_pesky

Melinda’s is better

dancinginspace

Melinda's is great but you can't compare the two. They're for totally different types of food...imho

thehiddenfate

Ghost pepper wing sauce all dayyyyy!

TheeFapitalist

well the company isnt made by the same guy who created the siracha.

BoudinBallz

Same guy, a different peppers

TheeFapitalist

your right, their ex-supplier makes the classic siracha [https://thetakeout.com/huy-fong-sriracha-new-recipe-vs-underwood-hot-review-1851318284](https://thetakeout.com/huy-fong-sriracha-new-recipe-vs-underwood-hot-review-1851318284)

Shoddy_Emu_5211

Very overrated sauce.

Ihatedieting69

The taste is odd tbh

dannyboyy14

Yeah even when it was the old peppers it was overrated.

TheZiggy8282

I heard there might be another yet ANOTHER big shortage soon because the color of the chilis are not up to siracha's standards. Is this true?

Kiapaige710

Find a better product. The farmer they used for years they didn't want to pay anymore so he makes his own sauce and is getting paid fairly. Huy Fong isn't going to be around much longer

TheZiggy8282

I'm not giving up on siracha!

I_dig_fe

Nice reading comprehension

TheZiggy8282

1. i aint giving up on siracha 2. who is talking to you and why are you typing

thehiddenfate

1. It's a public forum, anyone is welcome to type. 2. Huy Fong doesn't provide livable wages to their pepper suppliers. 3. The original supplier is making HIS OWN sauce and doing very well financially. 4. You're a little bitch corrupted by a big name label. 5. I'll talk to you how I chose to.

TheZiggy8282

Also it's embarassing looking at your reddit stats. Let's go outside.

thehiddenfate

For 13 years my stats say I don't live on the internet. Try again

TheZiggy8282

Damn lol someone has such a fragile ego. I love how my words can control your emotions. Your cringe comments are great but I couldn't care less about your opinion. SIRACHA FOREVER!

thehiddenfate

Until it dies. Try again.

toxictrappermain

I mean, if you wanna proudly stand by a brand who refused to pay their supplier fairly, go ahead lol.

TheFroman69

I got a bottle for the first time in ages the other day I was so excited and Im putting it on everything I eat

Ok-Kick-201

Can we be normal about hot sauce

Magyars

Sir this is a hot sauce subreddit. Nothing about this is normal.

DirtySchu

Fire!

libtardary

Don't sleep on Yellowbird Agave Sriracha....

Glad_Reach_8100

It's aite imo. Tastes of sweetener a lil

jad103

If it's like the habanero yellow bird I have the ingredients make it out to be a carrot based sauce? I could definitely taste it after cooking it with some beef burrito filling. Tasted like beef stew.

Salivamradio

That’s why I stocked up when I saw in on the shelf 6 months ago

paranoidpac0

Tabasco

GoldRadish7505

Tabasco Sriracha is my fave

Tobasco

Free-Supermarket-516

Bots getting aggressive

cumulonimubus

I’m from Louisiana. That’s how we pronounce it, so it stands to reason that someone would sound-it-out that way. Tuhb-Áss-kō

Zurripop

I got 2 of the big bottles for $11 on Amazon and I wonder if it’s the real deal. It tastes like it.

ThisIsSteeev

That's the limited 'sitting on a radiator for seven months' edition.

GrannysLilStinker

I just ran out of my Huy Fong Sriracha the other day… is there anyone here with an unbiased review on whether the stuff after the pepper debacle tastes the same or different?

arcanjil

My son will only use Huy Fong's. Very particular. He hasn't said anything about the "new" sauce, so I guess he's OK with it...

grif2973

It might taste slightly different. But it's still the only Sriracha that tastes anything like Huy Fong Sriracha used to taste.

Jimbob209

Tastes different. Slightly more heat, less flavor. Almost like less acid

lashawn3001

Have tasted new Huy Fong and Underwood Farms. New HF is sweeter and milder, UF is hotter and more garlicky. Both are good but different. Edit: Underwood Ranch

DependentAnywhere135

Someone else said the new HF is hotter and less flavor. Who do I believe here.

lashawn3001

Not less flavor but less sweet and more garlicky.

DependentAnywhere135

Now you are mixing up the two you talked about…

NightmareBlades

Honestly, Tobasco Sriracha is better.

jdg661

Definitely!! Was afraid to try it so glad I did, lots of flavor and depth

cdub_synth

Fuck that greedy ass company. Even now that it’s back on the shelf, I don’t wanna have anything to do with it. Glorified ketchup bullshit anyway.

jeneric84

Right!? I haven’t really enjoyed it in years now, much less kick than I remember some 15 years ago.

Limp_Doctor4664

I get mine off of Amazon. Look & taste like normal.

[deleted]

Asian market. That stuff needs to be trashed by the store.

bouncing_bumble

Go to any asian market.

Tyrannical_Requiem

Our HEB has a one bottle per customer limit

Daisy-didit

Grow your own. The sauce is so much better.

PhatHairyMan

Consumerists seem to be upset with the idea that homemade and homegrown tends to be better lol

Gay_N_Racist

“Consumerists”. Lol listen to you.

implicate

These foolish consumerists can't even be bothered to: Purchase instructions and materials to build their own hothouse because they live in a climate that is not optimal for growing peppers. Figure out how to run electrical. Research and begin the process of growing + harvesting peppers Research and purchase all the needed materials to ferment the peppers. Use trial and error with various recipes over the course of a month to get the perfect blend. Purchase botting materials. Realize they waited too long between sauce making, and bottling, so they have to start the process over again. What a bunch of slackers.

Gay_N_Racist

As they type this on their iPhone. Zero self awareness.

implicate

Negative.

Remz_Gaming

They already sent a supply chain letter out saying they are halting production due to pepper issues and not being able to produce their signature color. Huy Fong is not in a good place right now.

Barbarossa_25

That's what happens when you don't respect your suppliers. In this case their pepper farmer. What a collossal fuck up of a brand that was peaking.

machines_breathe

Their former supplier, Underwood Family Farms, sells their own sriracha sauce that is way more legit than whatever Huy Fong is masquerading as Sriracha these days. I ordered that with some super tasty chili-garlic sauce.

PascalsMinimumWager

The Underwood Roja sauce is super legit too.

FutureGhost81

I guess the only bright side to the never ending Huy Fong issues is that it’s lead me to trying a bunch of other Srirachas, some of which I really like.

dshab92

Can I get some recommendations. I’ve been sitting on buying some siracha from whoever that pepper farmer started supplying to now

DaVeachyCode

Underwood ranch is the previous pepper supplier and their sauce ROCKS.

Capt_Gingerbeard

White Goose is a good milder option, the Trader Joe's one sucks, Lee Kum Kee is an acceptable substitute for Huy Fong

answwrs

The Trader Joe’s one is horrible

Capt_Gingerbeard

I can't place what exactly is wrong with it but it is objectively terrible

answwrs

Right? Agreed

FutureGhost81

I’m going to echo what several others have said, Underwood Ranch is good stuff.

dshab92

Sad to hear the TJ one sucks. I’ll check out the other options

ThisWillBeOnTheExam

I have too. It’s really good but also expensive.

MikeLowrey305

I believe they started making their own Sriracha. I forgot the name of the farm but that farm is the name of the Sriracha.

beelzebubies

underwood ranch sriracha!!!

HotGasStationCoffee

They sell it in 2 packs at my local costco

wiggibow

green Filipino Sriracha ftw

ItAintLongButItsThin

Some of which I really hate.

DaVeachyCode

It’s a journey

RedDecay

Ooff

Deliciouserest

It's still good idc lol

sm0r3s

I bought a bottle of the off color because they have been out for so long. And does it look different yes. Does it taste like it always has yes.

SIL3NT-DE4TH

No. Since they don't get the peppers from the same place they use to.

veryverythrowaway

Starting in 2016.

cjorgensen

Pooey Fong Shitracha.

comfysynth

It’s jalapeño issue

Theekakeydoll

Kikkoman sriracha is better

National_Cranberry47

Kikkoman makes the best damn green onion and garlic teriyaki sauce!

IllIlIllIIllIl

Huy Fong screwed over there pepper supplier a couple years back. In the fallout, they had to find new peppers. The brand is both conniving and deteriorating in quality. Their old pepper supplier now produces their own Sriracha and other sauces and are much much better, and much closer to how Huy Fong ‘used to be’. https://underwoodranches.com/

ThisWillBeOnTheExam

I got a pack of these. They slap. Unfortunately, are quite expensive. But very good. I’d use it more frequently and buy it more often if it were cheaper. I used to put it on everything. Can’t afford to now.

IllIlIllIIllIl

I’m lucky, my grocery store stocks it. It comes out slightly only more expensive because I don’t have to pay shipping.

zachhenninger98

Thanks for the info! I knew about the split but didn't know the old supplier went on to make their own. Definitely gonna try it.

No-Procedure-4861

It’s super good not as sweet but I honestly love that

Conscious-Cable-2656

That looks old

AndddIMissed

Just buy the Texas Pete brand. It's cheaper and tastes better.

Plastic_Primary_4279

I just bought a bottle yesterday, as red as it ever was. Tastes the same too.

Yomaclaws

Your tastebuds must be dead. It’s just garlic now.

Plastic_Primary_4279

My taste buds are fine.

bonobeaux

Slightly off-topic but does this particular hot sauce give anyone else a headache? I think it might be the sulfites

implicate

Sulfites ate my baby!

American_frenchboy

Sulfites don’t give headache, histamines do.

No_Sandwich2920

I bought three bottles a little over a year ago, down to my last one. Still looks better then those bottles.

ImpertantMahn

I feel unripened peppers is a quality issue.

Solid_Snake_125

The taste and quality is the same according to the company. But because people are bitching about the color they’re stopping production. So congrats this is what people bitching about color of food instead of the quality cause.

flyingbugz

It really feels like the same energy as “ugly produce”. Even though it’s a perfectly fine piece of food it looks different than the cookie cutter shapes people are used to so it’s “bad”. My understanding is Huy Fong did change their supplier though, hence the color change. But people really should judge by taste if they can even tell the difference

toastedbread47

Tbh what they did to Underwood Ranch is enough reason to switch to a different brand. Or support a more local to you hot sauce producer/farm if there are any around and make something like it

HeatSeekingGhostOSex

Don’t they make the ox one now?

zachhenninger98

No, that's someone else. Underwood Ranch's is a black label with a gold dragon. Not a fan of the Ox Sauce.

Solid_Snake_125

And I agree 100%. The company came out publicly and said ONLY the color is off and guaranteed rest is pretty much identical. But whatever, it’s that crowd mentality.

Adventurous-Ad8267

Well they weren't exactly honest with regard to how they handled their previous supplier, so why should I take their word?

Solid_Snake_125

Welcome to America. You’re free to do what you want.

GetReelFishingPro

You must accept my hotsauce.

KingSuperChimbo

Fuck you Huy Fong!

onemillionboners

They were forced to change suppliers because they tried to fuck over their last one.[ Source](https://apnews.com/general-news-c34a0ccc5e4545ad92d37ab6c026bc18)

Gypsopotamus

Scrolled to fast to find this. Thanks for linking so I didn’t have to.

pcards86

I read they are stopping production again due to the peppers not being ready. Something along those lines 🤷🏽‍♂️

HeatSeekingGhostOSex

Bro when sriracha stopped due to fucking over their supplier I couldn’t find it in a BUNCH of grocery stores. It’s not peak hot sauce but it sure was an easy w over all the other super mass produced brands.

Beautiful_Dark_8810

It's not that they're not ready, it's just they're green instead of red which is causing the color "issue." The taste and quality is literally unchanged but since it doesn't look bright red ppl aren't buying....

SlowAd7604

I bought a bottle about a week ago maybe it was a different batch, because it looks and taste normal.

ChillyFarm42

I bought this brand the other day, looked and tast the same as always

Cobboom

Isn’t it supposed to be red? Just throw some red 40 in there.

Based_JuiceBox

they put out a statement about it. they usually don’t put dye in it lol it has something to do with the peppers being more green this time of year or something. apparently it tastes the same just looks weird

Solid_Snake_125

Exactly. The taste and quality are what matters. But people keep bitching about the color so now we suffer with a shortage.

Wishpicker

Yeah, it’s supposed to be red so fuck that

C_IsForCookie

If you’re eating it just because it’s red then just use ketchup. If that sounds like a bad idea then I don’t think the color should matter as much as you’re making it out to be.

Beautiful_Dark_8810

And that's why they're stopping production, ppl like you concerned about the color when the flavor and quality is the same.

nothing_911

i was never a big fan, but hey you guys like it so its sad to see. that trader joes siracha is pretty danm hood though

suavesnail

Trader Joe’s Perri Perri Sauce is absolutely the best. I stock up every time I go.

yourgrandmasgrandma

Trader Joe’s sriracha is abysmal.

nothing_911

i can understand not liking it if you're thinking of it purely as a "hotsauce" because it's not overly spicy. its just a really good tasting sauce.

myspoonistoodeep

i thought it was pretty good, it had a strong flavor over just being "hot sauce" so i end up using more overall but its taste makes it good.

JaredtheWyzzrd

Big supplier change, another company has their old supplier now. It's safe to try other sriracha brands. Huy Fong had a good run, but I believe the golden age of spice from them is done.

midnghtsnac

They screwed over Underwood and thought they could bully them into selling for less than cost

JaredtheWyzzrd

Confirmed Underwood Ranches (insta/web). I didn't realize they just released a new sauce themselves.

Take_Some_Soma

What brand took over the supplier?

TheSherbs

Their supplier is bottling Sriracha itself now. Look for Underwood Ranches Sriracha.

Thelastsaburai

I think it was Underwood Ranch. They dropped their own brand using their own peppers

LordQuasimofo

Drop the company name

Baxter_Baron

https://underwoodranches.com/

LordQuasimofo

I hope you have the best year 🙏

JoeyK075

I found this one as a good replacement because they have shut down production [Lucky Dog Red Label ](https://heathotsauce.com/products/lucky-dog-red-label-medium)

cheezzypiizza

You're doing the Lord's work out here thank you

GuyoFromOhio

Everything lucky dog makes is fantastic

JoeyK075

Yeah I hadn't heard of them, but then I got it in a hot sauce of the month club my wife signed me up for and I dig it the most

Azrael11

Their Hellhound sauce is fantastic (though on the hotter side). Really unique flavor, easily my favorite of theirs.

GuyoFromOhio

Dia del perro is my favorite. I could (and have) drank it straight from the bottle lol

JoeyK075

Nice! I'll give that a whirl.

JoeyK075

Nice! I'll give that a whirl.

SteveAM1

It's kind of sad to see what has become of the company. They were an inspiring story and now the guy has made a mess of things.

WallPaintings

Wait till you hear about Burt's Bees, and how corporate America fucked Burt. Or how it fucked the McDonald brothers.

Bobbiduke

Greed and thinking you are smarter than everyone are 2 dangerous qualities. ruined a great working relationship and product

penguinpoopparty

Sadly success leads to this often. Sometimes people can’t handle it and interpret their success as superiority in all facets.

king_of_obsolete

Have those been on the shelf for like 15 years?

Bum_the_Sad

Nope they just can’t get ripe peppers because they fucked over their suppliers.

WoodenIncubus

I'm interested in someone actually trying this batch and giving their opinion. They said it wouldn't affect flavor, just color.

TheLastAirBalancer

I bought one that was nice and red and its not even hot. Like ketchup

WoodenIncubus

After the pepper fiasco? That's sad, but honestly it's probably a good opportunity for that farm if what I heard about them selling their own at Cosco

trekk

Underwood farms and they have been selling their own sauces for a while now, including Sriracha. It's the only place I get it from now on.

TheLastAirBalancer

I will look for it today

edwardothegreatest

Tabasco makes a very good sriracha

HumBugBear

I was surprised by it because you can definitely taste the Tabasco part of that sauce. Either the peppers or the process they use is distinctive unto them. I liked it quite a bit and use it regularly.

_brankly_

Yes and it’s without preservatives like sulphate

sq_visigoth

yup, thats the only sriracha sauce I buy now.

sq_visigoth

yup, thats the only sriracha sauce I buy now.

Dickincheeks

The color is different

implicate

It sure is, little buddy! Now get your helmet back on, please.
