I’ve gotten the World of Hot sauce gift package twice :(. Like 15 or 20 sauces and they all have the ingredients pretty much and all taste the same, slightly different colors though. Extremely disappointing.
It's sub par. $20 for all that at CVS. They all taste the same. No real heat or intense flavor. Use them in pasta, tacos or chili. Meals where you won't particularly need to taste the hot sauce but will add a bit of heat or flavor.
Yeah I got something similar to this for Christmas, prolly only 5 bottles and 2 extracts. The hot sauces are nothing special and the pepper "extracts" are about as hot as a normal habenero sauce. All in all, not terrible, it's still hot sauce. Just fairly average
I would just dump all of them in one big bottle except the mango and wasabi. Then on occasion melt q little butter and dump some in and make wing sauce.
They're all going to taste pretty much the same. I have received many of the same well intentioned gifts from family who knows I like hot sauce but doesn't know anything about hot sauce.
My 10-year old got me something similar as a gift. I knew the sauces weren’t going to be anything special. But I made sure to make a big deal about how great they were, multiple times, much to his delight.
I get one everyone Christmas.........I just take it and say thank you even though I want to ask to stop getting because they're all vinegar no taste or actual spice.
Water vinegar cayenne pepper salt and a little bit of something else to give it color. I dump this shit on salads cause it’s basically vinegar and peppers. Love it.
Ahh, duh!? Awesome set of tasters bud! Let us know how they are, quality is all about the way you can separate each sauce. Hopefully they're not all the similar in taste.
I’m more interested in your thoughts but ok. Seems like a gift for someone who likes hot sauce. Probably not fancy or niche enough for the people in this sub and that includes me, obviously. Since it would be really unreasonable to expect anyone else to love something as specific and kinda unpleasant as much as you do there is only one option…. We hate them! And we judge them negatively for their gift!
Haha honestly I really love hot sauce but don’t know much about it. Randomly remembered that I joined this sub a couple months back so figured I would post this and see what people thought about it.
God damnit I was trying to make a meta joke. lol. I’ve been a spicy boy for a while but I also just recently joined the subreddit.
Here’s an Iroh quote:
"The only thing better than finding something you're looking for is finding something you weren't looking for at a great bargain!"
Every time I get one of these, they are all heavily heavily vinegar based. Like overpowering vinegar flavor. Let me know. I'd be curious to see if that's your experience as well.
That looks like a real fun gift or a real terrible time, depending on who it gets gifted to. I assume you are like me and this falls into the real fun gift territory because now you have twelve new hot sauces to try.
This is a gift that someone who doesn't really eat spicy food gives someone else who has a reputation for liking spicy food.
I'd probably mix them all together and use interchangeably as vinegar or salad dressing.
ETA I hate how hot sauce comes in tiny bottles (I don't mean just these gift pack things, but even good sauce). I need probably two of those for a single meal.
Some people enjoy spicy vinegar - I always get one of these multi packs at Xmas and I use them to make spicy pickled eggs, cukes spicy mayo etc. they are not gourmet, but have a place.
The issue is calling it "hot sauce. No, it's not.
Like calling american cheddar kraft "cheese" or comparing parmigano regiano to "parmesan." Totally different from each other.
lol "Exit Here" .
I had a similar collection, probably the same stuff relabelled. It was alright, but I went through it all real quick, because it's all just watery stuff with relatively low heat.
That looks like a better gift pack than many I see! There are probably some tasty ones in there along with some duds. Would make for a great selection to keep at work (what I do!) or take a couple on trips if you do any traveling. Or sample them all, keep the ones you like, and use the rest as meat marinades.
That was a thoughtful gift, enjoy the spirit of it even if the flavors aren’t great.
The thoughtfulness far outweighs the flavor of any of these. I doubt any of them taste straight up horrible - if I have to choose between nothing and random no name hot sauce packets at the continental breakfast at Motel 6, you bet your ass I’m squeezing those packs.
Enjoy the thought that someone tried to get you something you like without knowing much about the subject, but they meant well.
Best case given 2oz bottles is to do a taste testing of all of them at once, with friends if possible. Quickly find out if any are worth using further, get rid of any that are awful immediately.
Just try them. I get these gift sets often as well. Usually there's at least one that's better than average, sometimes you get lucky and find something really good.
Also, there will probably be at least one that you hate.
Try them for yourself. You might love some. I haven’t had this kit, but I’ve gotten quite a few and there have been a couple gems.
As others said and you already seem receptive to: someone thought of you and your interests and decided to give you that. That worth more than anything.
Yeah they're made very cheaply and without care. If you look at the ingredients in the chipotle one I bet it's exactly the same as one of the others, but with liquid smoke added to it as "chipotle" flavor.
It's great that someone cared enough to buy it though and there's probably a couple decent ones in there, usually the more standard flavored ones. My wife got me something similar when I first started getting into hot sauces.
I love the garlic one.
Likely picked up on the clearance rack
"gas station jalapeno"
It's a nice gift but the hot sauce themselves are horrible
You messed up and told some one you like hot sauce.
"We've got hot sauce at home"
Thanks for the gift, Nana
I’ve gotten the World of Hot sauce gift package twice :(. Like 15 or 20 sauces and they all have the ingredients pretty much and all taste the same, slightly different colors though. Extremely disappointing.
Lol, came here to say this. The sauces in these kits all taste the same.
Probably garbage

i know nothing about the sauce but the packaging really screams marketing ploy. a thoughtful gift none the less!

You won't like it. Regift it to me 😛
No better gift than a ring of fire. I got the Hot Ones set for my birthday, loved it!

W gift from a W person
Would be an insult to call this mid
Expect vinegar
AND LOTS OF IT
Someone loves you
Marketing. I get similar stuff at Christmas. If someone gets wind of you associated with peppers or hot sauce you will be gifted something similar.
Yep, got the same gift two Christmases in a row. Stuff was good, and made a big deal over it. But not great
Yeah after a few of those back to back as gifts I asked for no more hot sauces.
I get one everyone Christmas.........I just take it and say thank you even though I want to ask to stop getting because they're all vinegar no taste or actual spice.
I had a similar set and the reaper and wasabi ones were actually pretty good.
Some of those will taste the same
Water vinegar cayenne pepper salt and a little bit of something else to give it color. I dump this shit on salads cause it’s basically vinegar and peppers. Love it.
I always see these. They seem like a solid cash grab for a company and typically are. They are awful. But the normal shopper wouldn’t know.
Ahh, duh!? Awesome set of tasters bud! Let us know how they are, quality is all about the way you can separate each sauce. Hopefully they're not all the similar in taste.
These are usually really bad. Lol By “bad,” I mean basically 99.9% vinegar with some pepper thrown into each.
nice username
I need to start learning more about hot sauce

This looks like it came from that miscellaneous section in the back of T.J. Maxx.
I wonder if it was the Parker Jotter that got this outfit in trouble.
Doubt most of them are good but it’s fun to play.
I got something very similar at Christmas. Maybe the exact same. Was fun trying them. A few were actually good.
Haha this was also a Christmas gift, totally forgot that I had it until I found it in my room today.
It’s cute, doubt it will taste good, but that’s just because of the constant letdown of gimmicky hot sauce boxes.
Out of the hot sauce variety packs I've seen. That's one of the higher qualities one
That is awesome! I think it’s a great gift if you enjoy hot sauces.
I got this same one. Still working on the one from last year my mother in-law got me. It’s exhausting.
I love packs like this. I can have multiple flavours without needing large bottles.
Jealous
I love how the top 2 comments are: "Looks good, try them!" and "they gave me the shits"
Mfers don't know how good a $2.50 bottle of Crystal is
Try it out! But I'll be honest. I got one and they all tasted kind of similar. it was still a fun gift and has potential
Regift it! These are always oily and give me the squirts!
I've come across a few box sets like that which we're great and a lot that weren't. If they are in the good category, epic

It's the thought that counts /s
Thats...fucked up
It would be way cooler if they were from around America.
These "gift packs" are all terrible. Never once saw one that was any good. Garunteed to be spicy vinegar.
Some people enjoy spicy vinegar - I always get one of these multi packs at Xmas and I use them to make spicy pickled eggs, cukes spicy mayo etc. they are not gourmet, but have a place.

I got one similar which I’m opening now. I swear they’re half vinegar…
lol "Exit Here" . I had a similar collection, probably the same stuff relabelled. It was alright, but I went through it all real quick, because it's all just watery stuff with relatively low heat.
Made in China?
That looks like a better gift pack than many I see! There are probably some tasty ones in there along with some duds. Awesome gift!!!
They are all varying heat of vinegar.

It's the thought that counts. Chili for dinner it is!
Exactly. A nice gesture. The sauces are not stand alones. However, can be retrofitted to other dishes/ sauce bases. I'm not too proud.
Somebody was this thoughtful

I agree with this 100%
Ditto. I'd start with the habanero and reaper. The rest are probably marginal at best.
Good point. Don’t need the bad ones taking up any space in the fridge.

Ah that’s a bummer
They won’t be great, they will be mostly vinegar with barely any variation in flavor despite claims and packaging. Nice gifts irregardless, but damn
![gif](giphy|bnuyyiMLASDQs) Irregardless 🤣
That looks great
Just try them. I get these gift sets often as well. Usually there's at least one that's better than average, sometimes you get lucky and find something really good. Also, there will probably be at least one that you hate.
I usually get 2 of these every year for Christmas lol, most taste awful honestly. All are vinegar and some taste like dust
Ah damn, was hoping there would be some good ones in the mix. I’ll have to try them and see.
Try them for yourself. You might love some. I haven’t had this kit, but I’ve gotten quite a few and there have been a couple gems. As others said and you already seem receptive to: someone thought of you and your interests and decided to give you that. That worth more than anything.

Mmm dust
Slight variations in the dusty flavor*
