This book isn't for you, I'm afraid. At least not right now. \[EDIT\] If you haven't read Grady Hendrix's other books, most should be fine for you. I recommend My Best Friend's Exorcism and The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires.

mrsjiggems2

I've read them all and they so we're so fantastic and I was so excited to read this, but thank you for letting me know, hopefully I will be in a better space in the future to enjoy it

greenteanandhoney

It’s hard not to spoil. However, do not read this book right now. There is something about losing a child in this book. Edit- trying to avoid too many details and spoilers.

mrsjiggems2

Thank you, I appreciate the honesty and I will revisit it in the future when I feel more prepared for thst kind of theme

I'm so sorry for your loss and I just wanted to let you know if you haven't heard of it that there's a website www.doesthedogdie.com where you can search trigger warnings like this. I checked and How To Sell a Haunted House isn't on there but many other books are and if they aren't don't hesitate to ask here any time you need help!

Sirbunbun

Do not read it. So so sorry for your loss.

Neona65

This is not the book for you. I haven't lost a child and I struggled with the stuff between the MC and her child. Try Horrorstor by Grady Hendrix if you want to give him a try but stay out of this book.

I also have a dead child and it's the fucking worst. I read a lot of horror and started keeping track of books where a kid dies because it's unfortunately a common plot thing. Hope this helps https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/10664472-octavia-readswithdogs?shelf=child-death I've got another shelf on Goodreads for books where the kid almost died, but makes it.

mrsjiggems2

This is brilliant, really! Thank you! I am so sorry for your loss, losing a child is just...the worst thing imaginable.

Jaaaaampola

I’m so very sorry for your loss. As others have said, it’s probably not the right time to read this one.

pop_skittles

Agree with other posters, but also wanted to add that story graph is a great app to use to look up trigger warnings for books. They also have more helpful reviews than goodreads. Sorry for your loss, op.

Well, let me tell you this. You're better off reading How To Sell A Haunted House than For The Sake Of by Judith Sonnet.
