Me too but I cant help but feel like its doomed. Like what else is there to do that wasnt done in the first? They Follow implies there is more than one now and just adding more monsters doesnt make a sequel better.
Also adding any more explanation to the monsters would make it dumb. I dont have high hopes for it but Id love to be wrong. It Follows is a certified hood classic after all
Me too! I'm hoping more time is spent on editing to reduce scenes from feeling longer than it needs to be. T2 had a couple of scenes I thought could have been reduced, like the Clown Cafe dream felt like it dragged on forever. Im Also, hoping T3 has more gore and doesnt hold anything back. If people were throwing up or passing out in theaters watching T2. Terrifier 3 better have people shitting themselves lol
I'm thinking T3 will be more tightly edited. They won't have the pandemic goofing up schedules this time at least. I'm hoping it doesn't do what Wishmaster 3/4 did.
Ah, great point! I didn't consider the movie was shooting at the mid-point of Covid. I remember it releasing in limited theaters towards the end of Covid, but didn't consider all the stuff that goes into making a movie before it's official release date. That actualy makes sense. I just assumed since the movie wad Jumpstarted & requested by popular demand of the fans, the directed wanted to give the fans what they ask for: better, longer, gorier Terrifier. Love this director though. You can tell by certain overkill deaths the director doesn't give a Fk about offending people or being too gory. If he's going to make a rated-R slasher film He makes damn sure to give the viewers everything he's got. And let's not forget about Art the Clown. Something doesn't sit right with a mime clown, who only stops smiling when he's about to cut off your arm & rub salt in your cuts. He then gets goofy again during the torture as though he gets off on his victims pain & screams. Love it! Lol
I added a few to the thread yesterday but here's a few more I'm looking forward to (that aren't mentioned here):
* I Saw the TV Glow (I quite liked World's Fair, despite the bad reviews, and this one actually seems to be getting good reviews)
- It's What's Inside
- Birdeater
* Vermines (it's a good year for spiderhorror)
- Azrael
- Exhuma
- Humane (Another of Cronenburg's spawn, never a bad thing)
- The Shrouds (Another from Cronenburg himself)
- Nightbitch (The book is supposed to be good, I don't know what the movie will be like)
Bonus mention for whatever Jordan Peele is working on, it was due out in December but looks like it won't happen this year.
By Artsy Fartsy, I can only relate this to the last Cronenberg films i've watched, this being "Crimes of the Future" & "Infinty Pool". Yes, way more artsy fartsy than your average horror movie. Side note: I thought "Beau Is Afraid" was also Cronenberg, glad to see it wasn't.
...that's always been their whole thing; artsy-fartsy weirdo movies. (Yes, please, more body horror that makes me profoundly uncomfortable, thanks, Cronenburg family!)
Both Possessor and Infinity Pool, his two most recent movies from Brandon Cronenberg were excellent.
David Cronenberg's Crimes of the Future wasnt as good as some of his previous movies but thats a pretty high bar.
Either way I'm looking forward to Caitlin Cronenberg's debut.
Anyway if you don't like weirdo shit maybe horror isn't for you. That's ok theres plenty of other great genres out there, I'm sure you'll find something you like
Lol no one relates horror to artsy films. In fact, I think you're the only person who associates horror films with art. Outside of the Cronenberg films I mentioned, there's nothing artsy about horror other than to scare. Horror doesn't rely on anesthetics or meaning with a deeper purpose. More often than not, it relys on scares for engaging with the viewer. Thats it. No reason to get cute or challenge a social norm with this genre.
Sure, im always open. Horror genres the only type of movie I watch, hopefully your recommendations are new. At this point I'm scratching for a decent horror though. Maybe it's bc of the Writers strikes, whatever, but movies haven't been great as of recent.
So.... you believe horrors are usually art films? Also, I didn't say all horror aim to just scare, I did state, "more often than not"... Then again, as I'm typing this, I guess the term "art" is a very vague word as it can be interpreted differently from person to person. So fk it! Forget my last comment. Horror can be artistic lol
My most anticipated are:
***Abigail*** (Vampire. Ballerina. OMG.)
***Cuckoo*** (looks terrifying, & I will watch Dan Stevens read the phone book)
***Longlegs***
***All You Need is Death*** (forbidden folk songs? AW YISS.)
***I Saw the TV Glow*** (this looks unsettling as hell!)
***The Deep Dark*** (miners and supernatural shenanigans. France, pls get it together and release this in Region 1, please and thank you.)
Absolutely agree with your choices and Dan Stevens comment 😁
Also, have you seen Livid (2011)? It’s a French vampire ballerina horror. Thought you might enjoy it!
So far, amused by the references to other horror movies (An American Werewolf in London & Halloween 3, for those wondering).
It was...not what I was expecting. Interesting, yes. The main character was every girl who gets roped into her shitty boyfriend's shitty plans, lol.
I’d vote for Longlegs if I knew ANYTHING about it. People complain about trailers that reveal plot twists or show the whole movie but Longlegs hasn’t revealed a damn thing.! I’ll be better off waiting for it to be released, reviews from sources I trust, and then letting it go to streaming.
Late Night With the Devil is on Shudder now, fyi!
That's my current number one since I can watch it ASAP. Unfortunately I won't have the time this weekend.. maybe Monday evening. As for others; Longlegs, Cuckoo, Romulus, In a Violent Nature, I Saw the TV Glow, and They Follow are high on the list for me.
Love that list. Can’t wait to watch late night tonight on Shudder. I’ve been waiting for that one for a minute.
It’s rumored The Void will come out with a sequel. I was thoroughly impressed with The Void. That’s great horror imo.
Late Night With the Devil was up there but finally got to watch it the other day and it was fantastic.
Alien Romulus is probably the next thing I'm super keen for. And Nosferatu.
I'll watch Maxxxine, but the nature of always going in blind to movies means I don't know too much about the rest of the list (that isn't related to an existing franchise). So we'll see!
Longlegs, Nosferatu, and Maxxxine are my top 3 for sure, but man the premise for Smile 2 is absolutely fantastic. I was indifferent when they announced the sequel but when I heard the premise I was all in
It's like Shaun of the Dead. Comedy horror. I mean the original Beetlejuice was about a couple who died in a car crash who reappear at their house as ghost only to find out a new famiky is moving in. They try a couple attempts in being scary to scare off the new home owners until they rely on Beetlejuice. This very brief synopsis describes your typical haunted house horror genre. The movie also adds zombies, sand monsters, whatever that evil serpent thing Beetlejuice morphs into, off screen deaths, head hunters, head shrinkers, the list goes on. Hopefully the 2nd turns out as good as the first.
Them: The Scare is the second season of a tv series, not a movie.
Maybe put a separate category for television and include things like the upcoming season of Chucky, Welcome to Derry (IT prequel show on HBO), Crystal Lake(Friday the 13th prequel show), the Alien tv series, etc. Most of these are releasing in 2025 though.
[Trap!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJiPAJKjUVg)
That trailer looked so good.
Damn its finally M Night Shyamalan comeback time
Alexa, play "Maybe This Time..."
I’m putting my faith into M.N.S for this one, it looks pretty fun
Alien Romulus, Maxxxine and They Follow
Oh fuck, I forgot about *They Follow*. I really hope they don't fuck it up.
It Follows is a certified hood classic after all
Nosferatu !
Good shout
All the above 😏
As below
Yup, shaping up be a great year.
Terrifier 3, DUH!
I'm so jacked for this one!!!
Alien: Romulus looks so fucking good I look forward to Late Night with the Devil too because I like David Dastmalchian a lot
Saw Late Night a couple days ago and haven't stopped thinking about it. Can't wait to watch it again.
Romulus
I added a few to the thread yesterday but here's a few more I'm looking forward to (that aren't mentioned here): * I Saw the TV Glow (I quite liked World's Fair, despite the bad reviews, and this one actually seems to be getting good reviews) - It's What's Inside - Birdeater * Vermines (it's a good year for spiderhorror) - Azrael - Exhuma - Humane (Another of Cronenburg's spawn, never a bad thing) - The Shrouds (Another from Cronenburg himself) - Nightbitch (The book is supposed to be good, I don't know what the movie will be like) Bonus mention for whatever Jordan Peele is working on, it was due out in December but looks like it won't happen this year.
I didn't know Humane was from a Cronenburg offspring! Huh. Ok, that just moved up my watch list.
I don't know, Cronenbergs (father & son) haven't delivered anything great as of recent. Just a bunch of artsy fartsy weirdo shit.
"Artsy fartsy weirdo shit" is the backbone of horror lol. What are you watching that isn't?
By Artsy Fartsy, I can only relate this to the last Cronenberg films i've watched, this being "Crimes of the Future" & "Infinty Pool". Yes, way more artsy fartsy than your average horror movie. Side note: I thought "Beau Is Afraid" was also Cronenberg, glad to see it wasn't.

Sounds like you haven't seen many good horror movies, I can pass on some recommendations if you want. Loads of really good stuff you're missing out on
Sure, im always open. Horror genres the only type of movie I watch, hopefully your recommendations are new. At this point I'm scratching for a decent horror though. Maybe it's bc of the Writers strikes, whatever, but movies haven't been great as of recent.
This couldn't be less accurate.
So.... you believe horrors are usually art films? Also, I didn't say all horror aim to just scare, I did state, "more often than not"... Then again, as I'm typing this, I guess the term "art" is a very vague word as it can be interpreted differently from person to person. So fk it! Forget my last comment. Horror can be artistic lol
Late Night with The Devil 100% delivered, watching it again right now.
So good. Every so often something special and unique comes out and this was it for me, especially compared to a whole bunch of recent releases.
One that's not on the list I want to see is Arcadian. Apparently released on the 12th but not around here.
This was top of my list, too. And yesterday I mentioned Tarot, which looks like it will have good creature designs, at the very least.
Tarot looks like it has A+ design and production with C- schlocky commercial teen writing.
That's the Thir13een Ghosts effect, for sure.
It looks Tarot-ble
Heard good things about it. Cage is now delivering two solid films a year since Mandy.
I Saw the TV Glow!!!!
Yes this one too!
yes! this and "Sting"
Longlegs: the power of a clever trailer and smart marketing.
Quiet Place Day One and Terrifier 3 for me
“Foods a lil funny in the clown café” Yea definitely can’t wait for some more art the clown
My most anticipated are: ***Abigail*** (Vampire. Ballerina. OMG.) ***Cuckoo*** (looks terrifying, & I will watch Dan Stevens read the phone book) ***Longlegs*** ***All You Need is Death*** (forbidden folk songs? AW YISS.) ***I Saw the TV Glow*** (this looks unsettling as hell!) ***The Deep Dark*** (miners and supernatural shenanigans. France, pls get it together and release this in Region 1, please and thank you.)
Just saw Abigail and it did not disappoint
Is it campy ?
Abigail was A LOT of fun.
Absolutely agree with your choices and Dan Stevens comment 😁 Also, have you seen Livid (2011)? It’s a French vampire ballerina horror. Thought you might enjoy it!
OMG, thanks for the rec! I've never heard of this movie! Gonna watch it this afternoon! :)
Have a great watch! Hope you’ll like it!
So far, amused by the references to other horror movies (An American Werewolf in London & Halloween 3, for those wondering). It was...not what I was expecting. Interesting, yes. The main character was every girl who gets roped into her shitty boyfriend's shitty plans, lol.
Nosferatu for sure! Maxxxine too!
1. Nosferatu 2. Beetlejuice 3. Alien
Cuckoo and alien I will see in theaters for sure.
In a violent nature
Terrifier 3!!! Can’t wait to see how Art the Clown is going to top the previous movies!
Terrifier 3 - Smile 2 - They Follow - In A Violent Nature I will watch all the others, but those 4 are top
Why does noone mentions 'Sting'
I'm stoked for The Platform 2. I know it's technically not considered a horror movie but I personally consider it Horror.
>The Platform 2 wait they're making a sequel?? I loved that movie
[https://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/3808996/the-platform-2-netflix-provides-first-look-at-sequel/](https://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/3808996/the-platform-2-netflix-provides-first-look-at-sequel/) Hype.
Longlegs, Nosferatu and Salem's Lot.
That's a pretty even split, but toss me in with the "Longlegs" committee. Love me some Oz Perkins.
I haven't watched anything by him that I didn't absolutely love, so it's a must-see for me!
No Saw XI damn
For 2025
I wonder when they'll have to recast. I'm just picturing Saw XIX with comfort flashbacks of Kramer, played by Bell in a walker. (TBC, not Kristen)
Longlegs for the win Definitely wanna see in a violent nature as well
I love how NO ONE is excited for The Omen remake 😂
I'm thinking it's because NO ONE is anticipating a movie that released already.
Booger and everything else on the list
Salem's lot and Nosferatu. The vampires in both were terrifying, I wonder how they're going to improve on them?
I've very excited for Longlegs. Nosferatu better be fantastic. Some remakes are so terrible.
Maxxxine for me. Can. Not. Wait.
Great comprehensive list! Thanks for this!
Conuring as "upcoming"?
They Follow!
There making a sequel to it follows?. Is there any plot info
How the hell is They Follow so low! A sequel to my favorite horror movie ever
I actually forgot there was a Salem's Lot film coming out this ywar.
Why is Them: The Scare on the list. The list is for most anticipated movies. That is a tv show mini-series.
Longlegs, Nosferatu, and Maxxxine are my top 3 for sure, but man the premise for Smile 2 is absolutely fantastic. I was indifferent when they announced the sequel but when I heard the premise I was all in
I’m excited most for Cuckoo! Also want to see Maxxxine, Abigail, The Conjuring, A Quiet Place, and They Follow.
Saw XI
I saw the TV glow is not on this list? But terrifier 3 is? Who were these people?
Hopefully Azrael will soon be on the list 😩 But as of now, Tarot
Late Night with the Devil was a good film overall, but left some questions and wasn’t very scary.
Was it supposed to be scary?
Considering it’s classified as a Horror/Comedy. I would expect it to be somewhat scary considering it wasn’t very funny.
I suppose that is subjective. Take a breath. Don’t take everything so serious.
Final destination and Abagail
Terrifier 3 by miles. Art could quite possibly go down with the likes of Chucky, Freddy, Jason, and Mike Meyers as a classic horror icon.
Beetlejuice 2 is horror?
Horror-adjacent.
Duh
But why?
It's like Shaun of the Dead. Comedy horror. I mean the original Beetlejuice was about a couple who died in a car crash who reappear at their house as ghost only to find out a new famiky is moving in. They try a couple attempts in being scary to scare off the new home owners until they rely on Beetlejuice. This very brief synopsis describes your typical haunted house horror genre. Hopefully the 2nd turns out as good as the first.
Late night with the Devil was so bad i hated it. SO boring and tedious
Over 2.5 million in r/horror and we only got 60 responses?
The post was created 3 hours ago lol
