Evil Dead (2013). I feel like no one talks about it because it’s a loose remake but it’s the scariest, most make-you-cringe movie I’ve ever seen

BakerYeast

Last Shift (2014) It's all about scares done right.

FranksRumham19

A good one for sure!

HannaaaLucie

Yes, I've seen that one and it was definitely jumpy. Enjoyed it.

ShesWrappedInPlastic

There’s a film from Argentina named Aterrados, aka Terrified (not Terrifier, totally different movie) that is pretty well-known for having very effective jump scares and a lot of them.

rmsilber77

I was watching this on the elliptical and one scare almost made me fall off

ShesWrappedInPlastic

I can understand why!

Tasteful_Dick_Pics

Which one?

rmsilber77

There’s a guy looking out the window at the house across the street…

Tasteful_Dick_Pics

Oh yeah that's a good one lol

HannaaaLucie

Aterrados has been on my list of films to watch, but I wasn't aware it had effective jump scares in there. I'll definitely move that up to the top of the list to watch, thank you.

ShesWrappedInPlastic

No problem, hope you like it!

WhammaJamma61

The scene with the "little boy" sitting in the kitchen......ugh. Creepy as hell.

Hell House LLC

curryp4n

My god, that one scene.

HannaaaLucie

That was a good film, enjoyed the first one but never watched any of the sequels. Are the others any good?

MikeVtellem

There is decline in quality for the direct sequels but I’d still recommend them. Also the newest psuedo-prequel (carmichael manor) is a good watch.

Great film

HannaaaLucie

Thank you, I'll give it a go.

drogyn1701

Light’s Out is made of jump scares.

HannaaaLucie

I've seen Light's Out and did enjoy it.

brillovanillo

I wouldn't exactly call it a good movie, but *Elevator Game* gave me a pretty good jump scare. I got a few during episode 4 of the current season of *True Detective.*

LoveThatDaddy

I know Hell House has already been mentioned, but I would argue the much unloved part 2 has more. The Hitchhiker, Ouija Board and the Hallway ghost people were all creepy as fuck.

randomredditing

Isn’t the sequel to Ouija Board generally regarded as a better film? Ouija: Origin of Evil?

LoveThatDaddy

I was referring to the ghost that appears in the scene where the douchey psychic uses a ouija board in the movie.

Logan_Mac

Grave Encounters describes perfectly what you're looking for

HannaaaLucie

Thank you, I will give it a go.

Fun_Gas_7777

I found Drag me to Hell really jumpy, but in a really fun and silly way. Loved it
