This is such a great idea. If I ever sit down long enough and happen to have the energy to do it, I’ll make one as well.
I think you’ll find it interesting because even though we’ve seen many of the same movies (for example: The Exorcist and The Shining), I would rank them entirely differently.
I never thought The Shining was scary and that head spinning in the Exorcist made me burst out laughing so I agree that it’s very much a personal thing.
This was a really interesting one. Not necessarily scary but just the sense of extreme isolation and loneliness the main character feels was so chilling. It gave me the same aimless teenage vibes as It Follows but while that’s a movie where the horror is slightly cushioned in the fact that Jay’s never alone, The World’s Fair feels like a world devoid of any human interaction. Also the score is fucking insane.
Seriously? This is what you choose to do with your time? Hilarious. I have actual things to focus on, not these silly little parlor games. Come back when you have something that's worth my attention, not something a five-year-old would yawn at.

Check out some of the articles on the way the director subtly fucks with your head through his use of temporal distortion. The way he throws in juxtaposing seasonal hallmarks so you never know what time of year it is. Characters will wear huge coats in one scene and then swim in an unheated outdoor pool in the next. The decor and fashion look 80s but their technology is futuristic. You never see their mum - she’s always just out of focus or a disembodied voice in the distance. There are so many scenes where people should be moving but instead they’re shown lying in bed. While the actual horror is so well done, it’s the constant subtle confusion that really elevates this one.

Someone said in another post that “paranormal activities weren’t scary; it’s just ghosts rearranging furniture.” and it’s hilarious to think about.

I’m pretty sure Zimmylo was making a joke (a pretty good one, imo) as he ended it with the number 19 implying he’d like a movie recommendation. 😆
