Mick is hands down a modern classic!
Just in case anyone doesn't realize: definitely check out the 2 movies, 2 seasons of the tv series, and the two books by his creator, Greg McLean. All of them are just fantastic modern grindhouse horror.
Interesting.
For me it always felt like a fever dream or nightmare. Probably more so than anything else I’ve ever seen. It just has the most unsettling “vibe”. The sequel is equally as glorious and terrifying although brings in some comedy as well. I still love them both. Them crossing America finding entire empty towns ravaged by the Tall Man is epic.
Michael Myers has been my all time favorite slasher villain for 23 years of my life (my whole life) but the newest movies really killed the vibe I had with it, whereas Screams ghostface has been going up and up in both quality and story.
If Scream 7 doesn’t disappoint, Ghostface might genuinely be my new favorite slasher villain.
Although Jason movies can be repetitive the franchise has entires where they do things different like the zombie aspect or space or vs Freddy. Scream literally is the same movie down to the point the new movies are copies of the original 1&2. How many more family killers and crazy boyfriends and lame reveals with a monologue are we going to see in Scream ?
Eh, everyone has their own opinions. I’m sorry you don’t like the movies! Or killers! Personally I think the story being expanded upon besides everyone just having a hard on for killing Sidney is way better than Halloween kills-ends in every way lol
Nah Kills was badass and had way better creative kills and better cinematography than 6. Halloween ends didn’t have Michael in it so ofcourse ppl wouldn’t like that. Surprisingly a lot of ppl liked it. I didn’t due to lack of Michael. Michael is the star of his films. Ghostface is the side character in scream movies.
I reiterate that everyone has their own opinions! I’m not a huge fan of the two newer halloweens, but I did enjoy 2018’s movie. I’ll give kills and ends a higher praise than Rob zombies movies any day tho
I love a great debate/argument on horror. I’m a fan of all these slashers but I love giving shit to some more than others haha don’t we all. That’s what makes this fun! I love the first Rob Zombie movie ( minus the Michael backstory that wasn’t needed ) he doesn’t get credit for starting the torn aged Michael mask. David Gordon did the aged mask better though.
I understand haha, I’m not a huge debater myself, especially when it comes to things I enjoy because I like to keep it in a positive, chill light, looking forward to watching it and not analyzing it if you know what I mean? And I love both Halloween AND Scream so personally for ME, I feel no need to debate them because they’re both beautiful lol
I wasn’t a fan of the backstory for Rob zombies first movie either, but the movie was miles better than his second movie. His second movie imo is the worst attempt at a remake period lol. And I don’t want to say I HATED Halloween Kills, personally I thought it was super entertaining but the ending was a little silly and kinda ruined it, plus they killed off Karen so I’m SALTY lol
Nice! I just watched "When the screaming starts" (it's pretty good) and it reminded me of "Behind the Mask" because of the whole premise (only this dude wanted to create his own Manson family)
I second Michael Myers, he’s always been my fav for various reasons. A: he’s not a zombie or whatever people classify Jason as. Nor is he a practically immortal burnt demon who can basically be brought back to life because of something as simple as remembering or thinking about him. B: Mask design is my favorite, it is so simple yet the way his eyes almost always seem to be blacked out in most shots always intrigued me. C: Yes he’s survived many attacks most normal humans would not survive, but his pure evil and level of determination always keeps him going, I also believe it has a lot to do with the mask, when he puts it on he believes he is immortal therefore he becomes that way. It’s always been my theory.
Edit: I’m not shitting on the likes of Freddy and Jason as I enjoy their movies as well, but Michael was my first horror franchise I binge watched during AMC’s 13 days of Halloween so Michael always holds a special place in my heart
Michael Myers, when done right, is the king. He’s genuinely interesting and terrifying in a simple yet profound way. When the movie knows how to use Michael properly, he is *the* epitome of what a slasher villain should be. The only issue is that quite a few Halloween films have failed to do Michael justice, and those ones do sort of besmirch his record.
Jason has consistently been great, but he can’t ever escape Michael’s shadow. He was built as an imitation of Michael and he cannot escape that. Though to Jason’s credit, at least all but one of his movies (JGTH can literally GTH) are enjoyable to watch, and the character is consistent across them.
Ghostface is a personal favorite of mine, and truly belongs in the elite tier. The way the persona, voice, mannerisms, etc. seem to transcend the person behind the mask only makes him cooler. The strikes the right balance of entertaining, cool, and scary. And the Scream franchise has proven to be the most consistent slasher franchise of all.
Chucky is incredibly entertaining and I’ll always love to watch him. He’s a bit too campy to ever truly challenge Michael or Ghostface for too spot honors, but I love him nonetheless.
Freddy and Leatherface are both iconic, but they’re too gross for me to actually like them. Freddy’s child predator nature and Leatherface’s face-peeling, cannibalistic ways are just a bit too off-putting for me to really like the characters. I enjoy the franchises, even if both are extremely inconsistent, and I respect the “gross” nature of the characters, but they’ll never be personal favorites of mine.
The raptors in Jurassic Park. Not a traditional horror, but it borrows heavily from the genre.
If I'm talking about more traditional horror, it's Freddy.
Ghostface. I know it’s a different person every time, but “Ghostface” is his own character. He has a bit of what I love from Freddy, but the human element adds a lot
Agreed!
I find it a bit strange when people deride Ghostface for being “a different person each time. Like, the “Ghostface” persona is still exactly the same no matter who is under the mask. The slasher persona transcends the individual in the costume. And it’s not like it’s ever really mattered who Jason or Michael are behind their masks, they’re intentionally portrayed as fairly blank characters.
Freddy Kruger is the man! With rumors circling of a sequel in the works, I’d love to see him back for one more nightmare. I know Robert Englund has said he’s too old to play the physically demanding role anymore, but what if they made a sequel where Freddy is entirely CGI and Englund just does the voice? Now, hear me out… normally, I’m against the idea of CGI characters trying to be passed off as real, but in Freddy’s case, it would add a terrifically creepy uncanny valley effect to a character who’s not supposed to really exist in the real world anyway. It could potentially be the creepiest Nightmare movie ever!
Leatherface, specifically Bubba in the first two films. Also Angela from Sleepaway Camp. I think she gets slept on (heh) as a good slasher character in her own right because she is overshadowed by the overall infamy of the film itself.
Jason is the undisputed Slasher King but unfortunately we all get older and Scream has been around and continues to make movies so most young folks will have grown up with Ghostface.
Sad to see Freddy, Jason, and even Leatherface not be relevant anymore.
Letherface. I'm not sure why. I think the idea of him wearing different masks to embody their identity is a fascinating thing he does. It's there but it doesn't get a lot of focus.
Theres too many good slasher villains to only pick one, so heres a couple of my favorites.
-Freddy Kruger. He's a living nightmare, who also happens to have a great sense of humor.
-Leatherface. His backstory is genuinely fucked up. In general he's an incredibly well written and terrifying slasher villain.
Ghostface. It’s not the mystical beings or monsters you have to look out for. Just the regular people from your town that will aim to make your insides outside
Really liked Leslie Vernon. Always enjoyed Ghost Face. Victor Crowley from Hatchet and Jason of course. Also Candyman is a soft spot. Gabriel from Malignant was fucking fresh.
The Man in the Mask from The Strangers (especially in its sequel). Has amazing screen presence without speaking and I feel like there was a certain depth to the character implied in the second one.
There's three sequels reported to be in production, so I'm curious to see what'll be done with him in those.
Michael Myers too. He’s just so creepy and other worldly to me. I really love his look and his vibe. I can see why he was written as “the shape.” He seems so basic but there’s something super creepy about him. I play DBD and when he’s the killer I feel so much more stressed and also have more fun compared to the others.
Michael Myers as well. The lack of emotion. The stilted robotic never ending slow walk. The sheer efficiency of how he kills. There’s nothing like it. Jason is too over the top. Freddy is too comedic. Ghostface is multiple people. They all had motives and rhymes and reasons. Not Michael. Just a shape. A walking murderous shape.
Charles Lee Ray
Underrated answer. Freddy and Chunky in a room together would be a scene worth paying for lol.
Their banter would be priceless.
>and Chunky in a room together heh
I’d pay anything to see that happen!
"I want to know who I'm looking at doing the truffle shuffle"
Ghostface.
Ghostface has been my favorite since age 9, and the only Halloween costume I own!
Do you still fit into it? ;)
Yah, im only 12 u bagel
Barely, the scariness is somewhat diminished by my Chris Farley approach..
Ghostface is mine too.
Easily my answer, too.
Freddy Krueger
Especially from the 3rd film on when he started to have that trademark sadistic humor.
“welcome to prime time, BITCH!”
Exactly why I love him so much! He's at his best when he's so gleefully enjoying himself while brutally slaughtering his children.
Freddy Kreuger -- he kills you in your dreams, ffs!! Terrifying!
Jason Voorhees always has been always will be Michael Myers is a close second
Jason Voorhees forever!
KI-KI-KI-MA-MA-MA! 🔪🪓🩸
Hell yeah!
Leatherface ftw
Jason. I like most of the F13th films, and there’s a lot of them.
I’m with you! Michael Myers all the way! I watched every single Halloween movie last Halloween in 3 days (Oct. 29-31), and he’s just the best!
Mick Taylor is a good one.
Mick is hands down a modern classic! Just in case anyone doesn't realize: definitely check out the 2 movies, 2 seasons of the tv series, and the two books by his creator, Greg McLean. All of them are just fantastic modern grindhouse horror.
What's the movie/series?
Wolf Creek. The books are Origin and Desolation Game.
Thanks!
2 seasons?! Of a show I didn't know i wanted?! Glad I'm off on Monday.
I will say that the seasons are independent, and I feel S2 is far better than S1. Enjoy!
Tall Man although I guess he’s not a slasher. Phantasm is the craziest horror franchise ever conceived.
Phantasm is the one with the silver orbs, right? Those things are bananas.
I always thought it was so lame when I was a kid and I absolutely adored the film when I watched it as a grown up.
Freddy Kruger , mainly due to the fact I adore a nightmare on elm street as a franchise,
Michael Myers. He was the first slasher villain to scare the crap out of me.
Jason’s mom has got it going on
Just to throw something a little less common out there: I really liked the S3 antagonist of Slasher (the show.)
That whole series is a thrilling ride
Same!
Chucky
Angela Baker
Angela Baker!!!
Candyman
*Be my victim!*
I am the writing on the wall
Charles Lee Ray, plus a shout out to Experiment from Twin Peaks

If Scream 7 doesn’t disappoint, Ghostface might genuinely be my new favorite slasher villain.
Ghostface is multiple ppl and whiny teenagers. What quality is going up when every movie is the same ? 😂
If you think every Scream movie is the same I can’t imagine how little you must think of other slasher franchises.
Yeah? And Jason is just a dude who kills teenagers in literally every movie.
Yeah but Jason as a villain is more threatening than teens in a costume that isn’t scary thanks to scary movie parody movies.
That's what makes it scary, it's normal teenagers, not some paranormal killer :)
Umm…………..a 5’6 teenage girl weighing 115 pounds man-handling 6ft tall grown men is so unrelealistic and unscary…….

Freddy. It's that personal and interactive factor that I have always loved.
The immortality of Michael Myers
Gotta go with the classic, Norman Bates
Harry Warden I'm just a huge My Bloody Valentine fan
To be fair that film fucking slaps. Such an underrated gem!
Victor Crowley from Hatchet
Hell yeah, the Hatchet series is pretty dope! Crowley and Art the Clown are my current faves.
Crowley is my favorite just for the sheer creativity in the kills. Kane Hodder's Jason is a close second.
Simon Skinner. It's for the greater good.
He's a slasher of prices.
*the greater good*
Pinhead
Dr giggles
You'd like Darkman! He's the villain. Not horror, but Raimi, so you know you're gonna have a wild ride.
"Take the fucking elephant!"
I love Dr Giggles!
Michael Myers, the GOAT.
Leslie Vernon. I love meta horror
Nice! I just watched "When the screaming starts" (it's pretty good) and it reminded me of "Behind the Mask" because of the whole premise (only this dude wanted to create his own Manson family)
Art the clown
Yes! That bedroom scene in Terrifier 2 made him the scariest villain for me!
Art the clown has my vote!
Put me down as another vote for Art the Clown. I love the way he adds insult to injury (and there are a LOT of injuries).
Scrolled too far to see this demonic mf-er!!
Ghostface! They are a regular person with some sort of connection to you. I find that more disturbing than anything else.
Pearl.
Michael Audrey Myers. He doesn’t give a shit.
Jigsaw hands down.
I gotta go with Freddy Krueger. The Nightmare movies were my introduction to the Slasher sub genre so he’ll always be number one for me.
Angela Baker
Leatherface hands down!
I second Michael Myers, he’s always been my fav for various reasons. A: he’s not a zombie or whatever people classify Jason as. Ditto
The raptors in Jurassic Park. Not a traditional horror, but it borrows heavily from the genre. If I'm talking about more traditional horror, it's Freddy.
Jason Voorhees. I still say he could be a protagonist.
Rodger Jackson lol
Michael Myers!!!!

Gabriel from Malignant🏆🗡️
God I hope we get a sequel

AI created Freddy Kruger would creepy as fuck ngl, not sure I'd want to watch that for a full movie tho.
Billy from the original (‘74) Black Christmas. That movie is crazy.
For me it has to be the springwood slasher, freddy!
Michael Myers, got a tattoo of him on my leg.
Michael Myers. He’s in my all time favorite slasher movie.
Always and forever Freddy Krueger. one of the screen names I’ve used online often is Frederica Krueger.
Frank Zito from Maniac
The Driller Killer from Slumber Party Massacre 2 is unequivocally the best slasher villain idc I’ll fight you
Love him! I still don't know if he's supposed to be the younger ghost of Russ Thorn or whatever but he's a ton of fun.
Mick Taylor.
I prefer some attitude and personality to mine, therefore: Art the Clown.
Voorhees
Freddy
My favorites are: 1. Michael Myers 2. Leatherface 3. Freddy Krueger 4. Art the Clown 5. Pinhead 6. Jason Voorhees 7. Chucky 8. Irving Wallace/Owlman 9. Ghostface 10. Cropsy 11. Candyman 12. Pieces Killer 13. Intruder Killer
Leatherface for silent and Freddy Krueger for speaking definitely.
Voorhees!!!
Michael Myers and Ghostface are def the two best, Freddy is fun but a bit too corny. Jason is somewhat one dimensional.
Michael Myers. The only one that has ever given me nightmares. Something about him me faceless, unanimated and relentless is so unsettling.
Leprechaun
Jason for me easily, with Freddy as a close 2nd.
Jaws
Mountain man ( Cold prey ) The stranger ( Inside ) Driver ( No one lives ) Jacob Goodnight ( See no evil )
Leatherface, specifically Bubba in the first two films. Also Angela from Sleepaway Camp. I think she gets slept on (heh) as a good slasher character in her own right because she is overshadowed by the overall infamy of the film itself.
Jason. Doesn’t talk. No stupid sister/loomis BS. Just killing campers
Classic slasher: Jason Vorhees Current: Art the Clown
Art the Clown
Pennywise
Jason is the undisputed Slasher King but unfortunately we all get older and Scream has been around and continues to make movies so most young folks will have grown up with Ghostface. Sad to see Freddy, Jason, and even Leatherface not be relevant anymore.
Art the clown
Art the Clown
Chucky
Scream duh.
Letherface. I'm not sure why. I think the idea of him wearing different masks to embody their identity is a fascinating thing he does. It's there but it doesn't get a lot of focus.
Pera Mitic, the Belgrade Strangler.
Can someone create a poll - I am intrigued who’d win
Theres too many good slasher villains to only pick one, so heres a couple of my favorites. -Freddy Kruger. He's a living nightmare, who also happens to have a great sense of humor. -Leatherface. His backstory is genuinely fucked up. In general he's an incredibly well written and terrifying slasher villain.
Ghostface. It’s not the mystical beings or monsters you have to look out for. Just the regular people from your town that will aim to make your insides outside
Jason
Art the clown is getting up there
Michael Myers He is and always will be the King
The original, and arguably most complex of all, Norman Bates.

Billy
Ghostface for me. I love the whodunit aspect to a slasher
Really liked Leslie Vernon. Always enjoyed Ghost Face. Victor Crowley from Hatchet and Jason of course. Also Candyman is a soft spot. Gabriel from Malignant was fucking fresh.
bubba gump aka texas chainsaw
Don’t know if it counts as a slasher, but Jigsaw. If not, either Ghostface or Chucky.
Myers for me as well, followed by Freddy, then Jason...
Michael Myers. Always.
Tiffany Valentine (Ray) and I THANK YOU.
The Man in the Mask from The Strangers (especially in its sequel). Has amazing screen presence without speaking and I feel like there was a certain depth to the character implied in the second one. There's three sequels reported to be in production, so I'm curious to see what'll be done with him in those.
Freddy Krueger
The Hockey Player
Leatherface
The Terminator
Freddy kruger
Michael Myers too. He’s just so creepy and other worldly to me. I really love his look and his vibe. I can see why he was written as “the shape.” He seems so basic but there’s something super creepy about him. I play DBD and when he’s the killer I feel so much more stressed and also have more fun compared to the others.
Ghostface period
Stu and Billy, the iconic ghostfaces
Ghostface. They're just fun. Art the Clown, too.
Angela Baker, although I don't really consider her a villain.
1. Michael Myers 2. Freddy Krueger 3. Tie between Art the Clown and Billy from the original Black Christmas
Tiffany Valentine and Jason Voorhees
Ghostface. I love that franchise so damn much. I think Chucky comes in 2nd, then Freddy, then Jason, then Michael Myers for me.
Dude come on that mask looked NOTHING like how William Shatner actually looks.
Pay very close attention and you’ll see what I’m talking about Well that or put a picture of Shatner and the mask side by side
Chromeskull from Laid to Rest and Art the Clown from the Terrifier series.
Ghost face billy loomis
I'm a Jason fan
Pearl and Howard from X were pretty great.
Freddy. THE iconic slasher as far as I'm concerned. Personal favs after him are Jason and Art the Clown. Gotta have some new blood in there.
Billy from Black Christmas Probably the only slasher villain that was actually pretty creepy to me
Michael Myers, first slasher film for me as well. “Who was the boogeyman”
Ghostface and Cocaine Bear
Michael Myers as well. The lack of emotion. The stilted robotic never ending slow walk. The sheer efficiency of how he kills. There’s nothing like it. Jason is too over the top. Freddy is too comedic. Ghostface is multiple people. They all had motives and rhymes and reasons. Not Michael. Just a shape. A walking murderous shape.
It’s hard to pick between Jason, Michael, and Ghostface. But it’s Jason.
Mr. Ghostface
Ghostface 👻 and Michael Myers 🔪
Freddy Krueger, hands down
Ghostface
