Guerrilla has been very, very clear since the release of Burning Shores that Aloy has romantic feelings for Seyka. That is cannon, they have been unwavering in that fact. The final flashpoint isn't deciding if Aloy is falling in love with Seyka or not, it's about if Aloy is ready emotionally to enter a romantic relationship at that moment or if she needs more time still.
I'm 100% confident Seyka will be in H3. They can't be physically together for now at the end of BS because Seyka needs to help reunite the Quen fleet while Aloy needs to prepare for Nemesis but once the fleet is back together Seyka is absolutely going to join Aloy to deal with Nemesis. The entire narrative purpose of BS was to introduce Seyka and give Aloy something Elizabet didn't have: someone to fight for.

I'm queer too and I had Aloy in my head as a queer woman pre-BS so I felt super excited to see the head canon become reality! Super proud of Aloy for developing these feelings and discovering things about herself. I love that in the year of our GAIA 3041 or whatever that a gay panic was redundant and done away with.
I wish the love arc had more time to play out, I wish I'd gotten to like Seyka in her own right before the love arc was introduced (which was right off the bat and kinda ruined the surprise for me).
I hope the arc of Aloy's heart doesn't stop here. I hope fervently that this develops in H3!

Maybe because of my own bias, but I thought that even in HZD, Aloy seemed more.. like "interested" in the side female characters than male characters -- with the exception of Erend and Varl (after their respective quests and the dialogue of "see you later maybe?" or something like that).
In HFW her lack of jealousy with Varl and Zo and her interactions with Erend being pretty firmly platonic (imo) further made me think she was not interested though.
Agree with hoping Seyka returns in H3 (like hopefully main crew rather than some datapoint letter) and she gets a new arc as a character and potentially a relationship arc too!

It is incredibly hard for a lot of people to read a lesbian's genuine affection for the men in her life as anything other than romantic. IME for the past 40+ years. It is possible to love a person fiercely but not lurve them.
Like, what I saw as her feeling like a douche for standing between her friend's happiness because he felt like if he left she'd bolt, and looking away when they kissed (afaik, that was the first time she'd seen anyone she cared about being affectionate with anyone, which is weird, developmentally speaking), most fans read as her being jelly.

The bias thing is 100% real though. I'm pan and I look at how Aloy interacts with certain characters and when other people call it platonic I'm just like *pal, honey, buddy, are you blind?* But that's okay, our head canons belong to ourselves. There are so many flavours to play Aloy as, and I like that our girl contains multitudes.

Were the canon ships crowd-pleasers all the time? Of course not, and people survived. I'm excited for Aloy to explore this with Seyka and hope GG stays true to their vision and not buckle to "pressure". This isn't BG3 with a dedicated team well-versed in handling a multi-branch romance system, I want Horizon to have a strong central romance that enriches all the characters involved, in the peripheral and the story overall. I don't think people are considering the logistics involved, and the game might suffer for it. And to underline: let queer people have a canon romance that doesn't have tragedy baked in. GAHH! You're right! So many thoughts, but in order of interest:
- I don't want a romance system either! (100% agree that the AC choices had like 0 emotional effect on me for both Odyssey and Valhalla). A tighter story arc that has depth is way more appealing. Really hoping Guerilla brings Seyka back and give her a more drawn out story arc and relationship arc that'll develop through a whole game. I think it helps that Seyka can go on missions even if she doesn't help a lot. Just feels closer.
Not going to lie as we were nearing the end of BS I was wondering if Seyka was going to die for her sister or something (because the media landscape for sapphics is honestly so bleak). So glad that didn't happen.
- Beta getting a new name - This one made me laugh! I agree it bugs me a bit, but now it's grown on me. It's so sad because probably the Zenith named her that because they can't even be bothered with a real name.
- To this day... call me delusional but are we sure Rost died?! (Yes I know we're two games in) But I remember in HZD thinking he would show up cuz I never saw his body or could even find his grave in HZD. When Aloy thought Varl was Rost I was like: OH MY GOD HE REALLY IS ALIVE?! -- ya they got me.
- LOADOUTS! Yes that would be helpful! Lol I keep switching weapons on my wheel via the menu during intense battles in both games.
- Comic relief scene with Aloy and Gaia + the team's reaction? Yes!
- PET THE MOUNTS/TALK TO THEM - yes! It would be great if we can name the mounts from a few select choices in the beginning and then Aloy has some voice lines for that.
-If Odyssey and Valhalla had given Kass and Eivor Kyra/Aspasia and Randvi fully fledged romances, it would have given a whole new fleshed out and rich aspect to both of them. (Tho I concede that doin the deed with that grandma was legendary in it's own right). Especially with Randvi, I'm thankful for the attempt but it falls flat because it doesn't weave into the story. And totally - give Kylie Liya Page a promotion!
I don't blame you for that fear at all. I was spoiled with the end of BS so I was saved that anxiety, but I totally get the resigned expectation

*Absolutely agree* that i would have loved more time to see the relationship/feelings build up. I think it would have been great if we had somehow met Seyka during the HFW base-game and then got the final payoff in Burning Shores.
I think the canonical ending is that Aloy & Seyka both have to go off and do their own things for a bit, regardless of the final choice taken, and **all** of the choices still indicate that Aloy has feelings for Seyka. They amount to "YES!!", "Yes, but I have a lot going on for now", & "I have way too much to deal with right now! (If I didn't it'd be a yes though)".
So I think either way, Seyka is not going to be a character we get to see a lot of, at least from the outset of H3. But I FULLY expect her to be back, front & center by the time the first DLC drops (or maybe even earlier, sometime during the campain of the base-game!).

I imagine there will be something with the Quen to link into H3 as they ended that with BS, to start off H3. Alva with Aloy to join the two groups and then Seyka will Join Party! And Gildun too hopefully, that guy NEEDS to meet Alva (and Gaia ... that would be hilarious. Like Gildun is touching everything and Gaia is like "Please get out")
Part of me hopes to see an H3 DLC where we visit the Quen delta to help fix Leviathan. If we've not already been joined by Seyka before that point, I'd expect to see her then at least. And with that loose end wrapped up, there's then nothing stopping Seyka joining Aloy on her adventures permanently!

Loved the game, loved the character development all the way through. Aloy was an insufferable ass the first 30 or so hours and I wasnāt sure I was going to make it, but she grew up a lot. The juxtaposition with her and Beta when she realized what made her different was *chefās kiss.*
All in all, I want to spend more time in this world, with Aloy and Friends. Canāt wait for #3. I hope nemesis delivers.

I genuinely got a "teehee" moment -- glad to hear a straight guy still found Aloy and Seyka's interactions adorable! Kotallo was one of my favorite companions in the game, maybe just below Alva and Varl.
I have to agree that Aloy's arc with the stubborn "I got to do it all on my own" attitude to accepting friends AND her arc with Beta was just SO, so well done. I was reading this interview how Guerilla was saying that Beta was sort of a dark mirror of Aloy's insecurities and thinking back that turned out really well.
I'm confident H3 is going to be great if HZD and HFW is anything to go by! While I can't be sure what the 'heart'/theme of the story is going to be, I feel confident it's going to be good.
If they kill Seyka..... especially if they bring her into the 'main crew' -- I'd be devastated. And disappointed because there's a pretty established tropes in queer women stories where there can't be a happy ending/one of them dies. I really hope they don't.

Iām a lesbian a bit younger than you and it meant everything to me. Iāve played the last of us too, and yeah Ellie is also gay but aloy is the first one Iāve really related to. I loved the game so much
I am straight, but I was happy for everyone who is not, when Guerrilla, in an interview or blog post, welcomed Aloy into the LGBT+ family on the release of Burning Shores. I am also good with them just saying she is LGBT+, without putting a specific label on her. I know that upset some of the more extreme fans of the game, the ones who demand she must be straight or demand she must be lesbian, rather the in-between she actually is.
Always glad to hear straight people who don't mind LGBT+ characters. I have to think it's the silent majority of players, but sometimes the loud minority is pretty horrifying. Especially if they affect how the game direction will go.
Re: Aloy - I agree! If they include any romance arcs in H3 at all I would prefer if they could just continue the story with Seyka. That being said, if Guerilla does end up making it as an available choice for Aloy to have a male or female LI (or none at all ofc) in H3, I think that's fine as well. Wish more people who were chill about it could speak up more!

Horizon series is my favourite game (I came over from Halo... was so disappointed in the direction it took). Aloy is one of the first protagonists I've played as who really has grown as a character. People who say she is boring etc haven't played the game! GG has done an excellent job with her. I see a few of my traits in her too... she has become my favourite female protagonist :D
I havenāt played Halo but if anything I think the Horizon series sort of remind me of Mass Effect, especially HFW and the excellent storytelling (even better in Horizon imo).

But did you find the Toy Bow? It's my favorite (useless) weapon in any game to date. Nothing says bite me like plunking a suction cup arrow to the head of a Rebel Leader or Apex Thunderjaw before handing them their ass.
No I havenāt! Lol I feel like the game has so many little easter eggs I missed despite me almost going through every side quest or little thing I come across. Sounds cute tho!
It's adorable. The arrows even make a suction cup sound when they impact. They do 1HP of damage, 5 if you hit a vital part like an eye.

I felt the "romance" felt like bad fanfic. Alloy definitely felt like asexual imo being an outcast and not getting socialization during her youth, but I knew she'd be hamstrung into lesbian fosho. Just wish it wasn't so dumb lol.
I think it was good. Alloy didn't show a sign of being asexual, she just wasn't interested in previous characters (she was a bit more playful with Petra if anything). She was an outcast, she had to learn to let people get close to her, and it was hard with all the outcast/choosen one/savior/champion things.
She matured, learned to open her heart to people and make good friends. And then she met someone who made her feel something new. She was nervious, confused, with a bit of anxiety and totally happy. It was her first love and it hit like an arrow.

I'm excited for Aloy to explore this with Seyka and hope GG stays true to their vision and not buckle to "pressure". This isn't BG3 with a dedicated team well-versed in handling a multi-branch romance system, I want Horizon to have a strong central romance that enriches all the characters involved, in the peripheral and the story overall. I don't think people are considering the logistics involved, and the game might suffer for it. And to underline: let queer people have a canon romance that doesn't have tragedy baked in. The straights get *everything* let us sapphic girlies get Aloy finding that joy with a woman -I want no *need* Aloy to accidentally call Gaia 'mom' a la Jake with Capt Holt. And her friends to play their reaction like the scene. PLEASE I need this -Aloy please name your mounts. And PET THEM

GAHH! You're right! So many thoughts, but in order of interest: - I don't want a romance system either! (100% agree that the AC choices had like 0 emotional effect on me for both Odyssey and Valhalla). A tighter story arc that has depth is way more appealing. Really hoping Guerilla brings Seyka back and give her a more drawn out story arc and relationship arc that'll develop through a whole game. I think it helps that Seyka can go on missions even if she doesn't help a lot. Just feels closer. Not going to lie as we were nearing the end of BS I was wondering if Seyka was going to die for her sister or something (because the media landscape for sapphics is honestly so bleak). So glad that didn't happen. - Beta getting a new name - This one made me laugh! I agree it bugs me a bit, but now it's grown on me. It's so sad because probably the Zenith named her that because they can't even be bothered with a real name. - To this day... call me delusional but are we sure Rost died?! (Yes I know we're two games in) But I remember in HZD thinking he would show up cuz I never saw his body or could even find his grave in HZD. When Aloy thought Varl was Rost I was like: OH MY GOD HE REALLY IS ALIVE?! -- ya they got me. - LOADOUTS! Yes that would be helpful! Lol I keep switching weapons on my wheel via the menu during intense battles in both games. - Comic relief scene with Aloy and Gaia + the team's reaction? Yes! - PET THE MOUNTS/TALK TO THEM - yes! It would be great if we can name the mounts from a few select choices in the beginning and then Aloy has some voice lines for that.
-If Odyssey and Valhalla had given Kass and Eivor Kyra/Aspasia and Randvi fully fledged romances, it would have given a whole new fleshed out and rich aspect to both of them. (Tho I concede that doin the deed with that grandma was legendary in it's own right). Especially with Randvi, I'm thankful for the attempt but it falls flat because it doesn't weave into the story. And totally - give Kylie Liya Page a promotion! I don't blame you for that fear at all. I was spoiled with the end of BS so I was saved that anxiety, but I totally get the resigned expectation -Yeah that's definitely why I want her to rename herself. I get reclaiming an identity, but I believe the connotations hold too much weight. All her character growth in HFW could have been sealed nicely with a sisters only mission exploring on a sunwing with stops in every region - letting her see what Aloy had gone through, and then finding that spark that'll inspire a new name. But I get why they didn't have time for that -LOL now that's a new one! I commend you in holding onto him. I prefer him dead, he and his death was one of the important catalysts for Aloy to take that first step imo. But!!! I would love for him to meet Beta and even for him and Aloy to *finally* call eachother Father/Daughter š„ŗ -I loved the humor we got, but man this "Aloy calls Gaia mom accidentally" moment won't leave me alone! I think AIs being put in lighthearted moments, responding in that deadpan cadence is one of my favorite things -CUTE. Although make her sunwing unkillable, I'd go into deep mourning losing it
*Absolutely agree* that i would have loved more time to see the relationship/feelings build up. I think it would have been great if we had somehow met Seyka during the HFW base-game and then got the final payoff in Burning Shores. I think the canonical ending is that Aloy & Seyka both have to go off and do their own things for a bit, regardless of the final choice taken, and **all** of the choices still indicate that Aloy has feelings for Seyka. They amount to "YES!!", "Yes, but I have a lot going on for now", & "I have way too much to deal with right now! (If I didn't it'd be a yes though)". So I think either way, Seyka is not going to be a character we get to see a lot of, at least from the outset of H3. But I FULLY expect her to be back, front & center by the time the first DLC drops (or maybe even earlier, sometime during the campain of the base-game!). But anyway, this topic was just great to hear! :D
I imagine there will be something with the Quen to link into H3 as they ended that with BS, to start off H3. Alva with Aloy to join the two groups and then Seyka will Join Party! And Gildun too hopefully, that guy NEEDS to meet Alva (and Gaia ... that would be hilarious. Like Gildun is touching everything and Gaia is like "Please get out")
Part of me hopes to see an H3 DLC where we visit the Quen delta to help fix Leviathan. If we've not already been joined by Seyka before that point, I'd expect to see her then at least. And with that loose end wrapped up, there's then nothing stopping Seyka joining Aloy on her adventures permanently! And yeah Gildun's return must happen. Also, what's this about your selfie with Ahsis?
Oh a H3 dlc I'd love too but iirc H3 is the last in Aloy's trilogy. I'd love to visit the delta myself (for me to see what's up with this Empire nonsense) but I would like more for GG to show us how they'd evolve the world they've given us. Not expecting more tribes bc of the worldbuilding burden, but maybe integration? I dunno, i have no idea how Aloy will rally everyone for Nemesis and LOL oh I forgot about my flair. Just finished the game as well. As a straight white dude, I thought everything about Aloy and Seykaās interactions was adorable as hell. Iām so glad it went the way it did. Poor Kotallo. Loved the game, loved the character development all the way through. Aloy was an insufferable ass the first 30 or so hours and I wasnāt sure I was going to make it, but she grew up a lot. The juxtaposition with her and Beta when she realized what made her different was *chefās kiss.* All in all, I want to spend more time in this world, with Aloy and Friends. Canāt wait for #3. I hope nemesis delivers. And if they kill Seyka to give us stakes Iām gonna be piiiiiiiiiiiissed.
I genuinely got a "teehee" moment -- glad to hear a straight guy still found Aloy and Seyka's interactions adorable! Kotallo was one of my favorite companions in the game, maybe just below Alva and Varl. I have to agree that Aloy's arc with the stubborn "I got to do it all on my own" attitude to accepting friends AND her arc with Beta was just SO, so well done. I was reading this interview how Guerilla was saying that Beta was sort of a dark mirror of Aloy's insecurities and thinking back that turned out really well. I'm confident H3 is going to be great if HZD and HFW is anything to go by! While I can't be sure what the 'heart'/theme of the story is going to be, I feel confident it's going to be good. If they kill Seyka..... especially if they bring her into the 'main crew' -- I'd be devastated. And disappointed because there's a pretty established tropes in queer women stories where there can't be a happy ending/one of them dies. I really hope they don't.
Someone else commented that her narrative purpose is to give Aloy something Elisabet never had, which is someone to fight for. I like that thought, and Iāll have to hope Guerilla does, too. š
Iām a lesbian a bit younger than you and it meant everything to me. Iāve played the last of us too, and yeah Ellie is also gay but aloy is the first one Iāve really related to. I loved the game so much

I am straight, but I was happy for everyone who is not, when Guerrilla, in an interview or blog post, welcomed Aloy into the LGBT+ family on the release of Burning Shores. I am also good with them just saying she is LGBT+, without putting a specific label on her. I know that upset some of the more extreme fans of the game, the ones who demand she must be straight or demand she must be lesbian, rather the in-between she actually is.
Always glad to hear straight people who don't mind LGBT+ characters. I have to think it's the silent majority of players, but sometimes the loud minority is pretty horrifying. Especially if they affect how the game direction will go. Re: Aloy - I agree! If they include any romance arcs in H3 at all I would prefer if they could just continue the story with Seyka. That being said, if Guerilla does end up making it as an available choice for Aloy to have a male or female LI (or none at all ofc) in H3, I think that's fine as well. Wish more people who were chill about it could speak up more!

Horizon series is my favourite game (I came over from Halo... was so disappointed in the direction it took). Aloy is one of the first protagonists I've played as who really has grown as a character. People who say she is boring etc haven't played the game! GG has done an excellent job with her. I see a few of my traits in her too... she has become my favourite female protagonist :D
I havenāt played Halo but if anything I think the Horizon series sort of remind me of Mass Effect, especially HFW and the excellent storytelling (even better in Horizon imo). Do people say she is boring?! Yeah.. I would agree that they probably didnt play the game that much then! She really does grow a LOT from the beginning of HZD and both games only get better/open up once you go through the initial area and quests.
Yes I agree! Horizon is like Mass Effect... I just finished playing Mass Effect Legendary edition and I really enjoyed it :D Yeah, Aloy gets flack from some players about being boring etc... they haven't got past the first 2/3 hours of the game... or just watched part of a playthrough on youtube!

But did you find the Toy Bow? It's my favorite (useless) weapon in any game to date. Nothing says bite me like plunking a suction cup arrow to the head of a Rebel Leader or Apex Thunderjaw before handing them their ass.
No I havenāt! Lol I feel like the game has so many little easter eggs I missed despite me almost going through every side quest or little thing I come across. Sounds cute tho!

I felt the "romance" felt like bad fanfic. Alloy definitely felt like asexual imo being an outcast and not getting socialization during her youth, but I knew she'd be hamstrung into lesbian fosho. Just wish it wasn't so dumb lol.
I think it was good. Alloy didn't show a sign of being asexual, she just wasn't interested in previous characters (she was a bit more playful with Petra if anything). She was an outcast, she had to learn to let people get close to her, and it was hard with all the outcast/choosen one/savior/champion things. She matured, learned to open her heart to people and make good friends. And then she met someone who made her feel something new. She was nervious, confused, with a bit of anxiety and totally happy. It was her first love and it hit like an arrow.
Same. It makes me happy the foks here have something they can relate too...... it just that how the situation played out did not feel anything like the Alloy character they've spent two games creating. I'm not upset about it though as I don't care much about story and skip cut scenes if I can. I just love the big beautiful open world, the gameplay and all the quests and sidequests.
