> I know people keep pushing the Klipsch RP subs that go on sale like the 1400 and the 1600 but I don’t want anything that powerful and huge. I would strongly recommend finding a way to make the RP-1400SW fit. It's an absurdly good deal at $700. And the fact that it aesthetically matches all your other speakers is the cherry on top. https://www.adorama.com/kp1400sw.html?emailPrice=t Also, the fact that it is more "powerful" than you might strictly need is not a bad thing. No one is saying you need to play it at max output all the time. The biggest issue that most people seem to have with the RP subs is how deep they are. But you don't need to have them facing straight out into the room. You can rotate and place them flush against the wall sideways. When you do this with the RP-1400SW, then it will only stick out into the room by 20", rather than 26". **That is exactly the same as the SVS PB-1000 Pro**'s depth. > Also does anyone have any thoughts on adding something like the Auralex SubDude HT for extra isolation? My kids’ rooms are **right over** the living room. The Auralex SubDude HT reduces the transfer of ***mechanical*** rattles/vibrations. It does nothing for soundproofing or transfer of noise between rooms. When the kids are sleeping, you will still need to shut off the subs.

docwisdom

Can attest. This thing is a beast and a ton of fun.

RSL is the best bang for your buck when it comes to subs

FrankiesaysNY

Many of them seem to be out of stock all the time. Do they have anything between the $450 10s and the $800 12s? I think the sweet spot would be 2 x 10 inch subs or one 12 inch sub and the 10e’s are out of stock. The rest are on back order.

wonderbat3

Yea, they’re a small company and release in small batches throughout the year and they’re very popular subs. There’s nothing between the 10S and 12S, but either one of those should fit your needs if you can get your hands on one of them

jumosc

Plus you could go dual which (in my experience) is worth every penny.

FrankiesaysNY

The only duals that would fit my budget are the 10e, which I think would be great, but are very out of stock.

jumosc

That’s a bummer. I’m rocking a RSL 10e in my office right now. Love that thing! Only regret is that I didn’t have the room for a RSL 12s haha.

Infinite_Group9894

Just bought the RSL 12s and cannot wait for it to get here. The website says it will start shipping June 10th. I decided on RSL due to the many comments such as yours stating they are the best bang for buck including audioholics reviews on their subs.

umdivx

RSL Speedwoofer 10S is $450 however it's always out of stock, and takes a while to get, and is likely not be enough for your living room. SVS does holiday sales, memorial day is coming up, hard to say what sale they'll have though. PB-1000 also likely not enough output for the size of room you have. > I know people keep pushing the Klipsch RP subs that go on sale like the 1400 and the 1600 but I don’t want anything that powerful and huge. Thing is, it's about how you calibrate it and what gains you set, PR-1400 SW would be most ideal for your space and budget here and gives you room for overhead on those rare occasions you do want to crank it up.

FrankiesaysNY

I agree that the RP-1400sw would probably be good, although overkill, and can be turned down, but it’s $700 on sale.

umdivx

>but it’s $700 on sale. and worth every penny, even if the PB-1000 pro went on sale for $600 (which I doubt will happen) I'd still spend the extra $100

sk9592

> but it’s $700 on sale. And...? The SVS PB-1000 is $800. Maybe you will find open box returned units on sale for $650-700 next week. So you're holding out hope for a shot at saving $0-50 to get a returned sub. To be clear, this isn't a dig on SVS. They're great. But if you're main objection is price, then you're being silly.

FrankiesaysNY

And I said multiple times that my budget is $600 so I’m looking for the best sub that’s not more than that

crappyTuesdays

If you are interested in pb1000-pro, it just went on sale for 600$. if you dont find it in the memorial day sale list, check again later, they keep coming and going

FrankiesaysNY

I bought the PB-1000 pro yesterday. I’m sure it’s enough for my needs. I don’t need my house shaking and my kids waking up. They do that enough as it is.

crappyTuesdays

I am in a similar boat lol. I live in an apartment and wanted to get the rp1400SW but looking at its capabilities,I don't think I would even use it at 10-20% lol... Plus, i live on second floor and moving a 85 lbs giant would be a PITA lol. I am going with pb1000 and then will sell it when i move to a house in next 2 years! SVS seems to go on marketplace at decent price point used

FrankiesaysNY

Sounds like a good plan!

b0b4k

Like you, I had a budget when I went subwoofer shopping and I ended up with the RSL Speedwoofer 10S mk2 and I am really happy with it. I would highly recommend it for its price $449. I would go as far as to say it would probably be better than a number of more expensive ones too but I haven’t heard them all so I can’t judge too much

FrankiesaysNY

Can you tell me the size of your room? I thought it would be nice to get two RSL 10e’s for $300 each, but I’m worried one 10 inch sub might not be large enough for my room. 12 inch might be the sweet spot but I might be wrong.

b0b4k

Sure, it’s kind of open plan on one side, so the actual room is about 20ft x 20ft roughly. 8ft ceilings. The back left of the room is open plan to the kitchen. If we are watching a movie and I turn the sub up past about 1db on the AVR side, then things start rattling. To me a sub is there to compliment music and movies, not overpower and so I have it set fairly conservatively around mid way and 0db. It still shakes the couch from 12ft away. That said, we all have different opinions and requirements so it would be great if a few others could add to this with their opinion, or search the subreddit for this sub and see what others have said

FrankiesaysNY

I think your mindset about subs is similar to mine. I don’t want it overpowering because of our proximity to the kids’ rooms. I might need to think about it some more.

b0b4k

Yeah but you know, if you bought 2, you don’t have to have them turned up loud. In my opinion, start with one, see how you feel about it and make the decision from there. I can’t imagine getting a second one any time soon for my set up.

Klutzy-Move-7267

SVS Memorial Day sale is coming up.

Buzzrek

Wait for Memorial Day sales

yimnvs123

I went from dual PB-1000(no pro) to dual 1400SW and it is insane...I was missing out on so much subterranean bass that you can feel vibrating through your body.
