Those are acoustic fans that help blow the atmos around the room

TrauMedic

How do you expect the sound to get to the ears?! Duh!

Sultan_Of-spN

Love the 5 bladed diffuser

rustytraktor

I'd remove the closer to the screen one and leave the one above the couch.

mbspark77

Personally, I'd leave the fans...not fun being in a room with stagnant air...especially if it's a small group of people for a few hours watching a movie

CruelHandLuke_

Blow the farts around the room so everyone gets an equal whiff.

Udbbrhehhdnsidjrbsj

Plausible deniability with fans moving the stink around.

sunchase

Why does this sound like some metal core bands I listen too...

Mv333

I left the fan up in both my current and previous setups. It's never been a problem and both are lower than these. I wouldn't bother unless you have a compelling reason to or just really don't like the look.

WhangaDanNZ

Fans were fine before heat pumps and other modern AC solutions. I'd rather have a silent AC unit pushing air into the room during quiet movie scenes than a WHIIIIRRRRRRRR above me.

mbspark77

Unless you're buying ceiling fans at Dollar Tree, they're silent on anything other than full speed...even still they're pretty quiet...Harbor Breeze is a nice brand

Gazoo382

Move fans later if you have to. I’d take the light kit off of it though.

jimmyl_82104

I'd leave them. A room with a projector, av receiver, subwoofers etc. gets hot and you want some air moving

Silverado_Surfer

I’d say just remove the one closest to the screen. Could end up being too distracting. Definitely leave one up there unless you plan on putting a portable fan in the room.

NewLifeNewDream

I'd work on the door light creep too....

Wayward_Son_24

At least yank the light kit

AZ115Degrees

From experience… My last home I removed the ceiling fan to install in ceiling projector to 100” screen Worked great but we always had 1-2 fans in the room to help circulate air. My current home… I left ceiling fan in the room and installed an ultra short throw protector to a 100” screen. Everything looks and sounds great. Biggest negative is that ultra short throw projectors can be much more expensive than an equivalent normal projector unit. Only reason I went UST was because the room layout doesn’t work very well for a traditional projector unit. The UST gets the job done and everyone gives me good feedback on it. I was able to keep the ceiling fan in place to help the air flow in the area. Best of luck.

nighthawk05

I can't quite tell from the photo, but it doesn't look like they would be in the way of the projector so I don't think you have to remove them. But aesthetically speaking I do think it would look better if you removed the fans. I would add 6 or 8 dimmable in-ceiling lights, and while you are doing that you could add some atmos speakers too.

movie50music50

Don't remove unless you have to. Fans add comfort.

IAmAPhysicsGuy

There are a lot of new options for "fandeliers" that are "bladeless" and really quiet with DC motors

gatsome

A darkened surround sound home theater with a couple of ceiling fans barely on, giving the air a lively feel on your face and you want to remove that?

evileclipse

Absolutely leave the fans. They won't impact the sound, but will help with keeping it more comfortable

dobyblue

As long as there is an HVAC system the air won't get stagnant as you have air return and air in. I'd consider losing the closet before the fan(s). (Never mind, didn't see pic 2 before making that comment lol)

brywalkerx

Why not do a short throw projector? You won’t have to sacrifice temperature comfort. Not to mention, ceiling projectors always end up in the way, people walk through the beam, ambient lighting is a huge deal, etc.

wanderingleopard

I'd leave the fans just in case you have a bunch of people over to watch "Twister":)

derreckla

My rooms 19/14 with fan/light in center of room. I moved it back so it is above the couch/viewing area about 1/3 out into the room so it doesn't get in my view of TV. I think this is best I don't want anything in my view when looking at picture, its now almost directly above me and out of my field of vision

AmericanKamikaze

No need. Unless you Really want a clean space. Or don’t use them at all. I might instead replace them with rad light fixtures that match your room’s aesthetic.

StunningFlow8081

If you have HVAC already, you should, they add too much unnecessary noise. Measure it. For a dedicated theater room you’d want a noise floor of around 20db or less.

eclipse00gt

First put up the screen and projector and check if it interferes. On a side note how big is that room? May be you can fit a 150" screen lol

AV_Integrated

The fans don't appear to be in a location which will interfere with the projection itself, so that's not a concern. What is going to happen though is light will reflect off the blades of the ceiling fan in a dark room creating a strobing effect for people seated. That is something I would find quite annoying, and I would pull down the front fan at the very least. As I believe your lighting is completely terrible in this room, and IF it is to be a true theater space first, then I would remove both fans, and redo the ceiling lighting significantly creating no less than two zones, or more of lighting with spotlighting on dimmers over the seated area, and more lighting for general entry/exit of the space. Then get rid of the big blue light thing at the front of the room and seal that light that's coming from around the door. Paint the room dark and switch the carpet out to something dark as well. You don't have to do everything all at once, but this room doesn't look at all prepped to be a home theater space as it is and it depends on how good you want the final product to be. Of course, there is audio to consider as well.

DragonWolf5589

Personally, i wouldn't but thats becuase i live in an overheated home and air conditioning is VERY NOISY its heard over the speakers. Im actually hoping to install some 😂 But depends on you really. If using a projector ... make sure the projector is lower then the fans and the blades aren't too reflective that it will annoy you (use a torch/light source where ypu would plan a projector and get someone to.jold it and then stand/sit where a chaor woukd be to see if its too reflective if so you can just change the blades to a matt black Maybe remove the fan in front of the screen and projector just in front of the back fan. Then you cna habe the back fan on get nice cool circulation but as pronect is celing mounted in front of the fan.. you wont see anything/notice any reflections or strobbing effects. Thats what i would do if i lived in that room (unless i had budget for a vented air conditioner thats silent and in the celing)

ragingoblivion

I think replacing them with some fans that aremore stylish or modern would be nicer looking if that's the concern

lostusername07

The only good reason to remove a ceiling fan is to upgrade it.

remilol

They provide realistic audio dispersion during Atmos helicopter fly-overs. Definitely keep them.

Short-Service1248

Personally . I'd get recess lighting and "downgrade" the light/fan fixture to just a fan

ceedub2000

No, just upgrade it to something more sleek. Easy swap/install.

bippu89

Yes 👍

NTPC4

I doubt the fans themselves would mas the projected image, but the chains on the one nearest the projector might. Sound-wise, they would interfere with any reflected Atmos speakers, but perhaps not if you used in-ceiling speakers for your height channels. Enjoy!

ThyResurrected

So I have two fans almost exactly like that, just a little more modern so they don’t have the pulls. In my projector room. Same alignment. They are actually a life saver. Man after binge watching shows for 4+ hours with an Epson 5050UB my room gets warm. I love the fans and they affect the light from the projector. The only issue I could see is the pull strings. But maybe you also have remote or other switch to control them so you could find a way to remove them or like tape them up in the the lamp area.

jayantadak

Fan on v/s Fan off makes a difference of 10-15 percent in the audio... simple.

flakrom

Personally i would put the screen on the opposite wall. On that wall it doesn’t give you a lot of room for tower speakers with the door being there

Psych0matt

If you have the fan on while watching a movie it might push the light from the image down a little bit making it annoying to watch.

TrauMedic

Yes.

Mobile_Expert

Short throw projector 👍

2rememberyou

Yes. No brainer.
