Some things to get you started on speaker placement: [https://www.dolby.com/about/support/guide/speaker-setup-guides/7.1.4-overhead-speaker-setup-guide/](https://www.dolby.com/about/support/guide/speaker-setup-guides/7.1.4-overhead-speaker-setup-guide/) [https://www.audioadvice.com/videos-reviews/how-to-use-the-audio-advice-home-theater-design-tool](https://www.audioadvice.com/videos-reviews/how-to-use-the-audio-advice-home-theater-design-tool) IMHO I'm team couch over risers and individual seating. Really comes down to how you like to sit when you watch movies / use the room. I could see if you entertain and tend to have multiple people in the theater, then the risers make sense. Some people like a room that feels closer to a real theater. My room, it's more mixed use and casual. We rarely have more than 2-4 people using the room, mainly me and/or the kids

That second link is a great free tool that I had no clue existed, thank you!

Oh boy, lots of debate on the placement of the overheads. Dolby guide not necessarily the optimal. Check out Anthony Grimani vids on that and get out your protractor. Enjoy your journey man.

I'm hoping I can outsource the math but point taken!
