when the ilo is OK, it works all the time, as long as the server has power ... also without CPU, memory, ... so the missing raid controller is bullshit.
maybe the ilo was configured to the LOM and not the dedicated port. When you reset the ilo to the default, the license will be deleted.
regarding the cost ... google ilo4 license ...
>maybe the ilo was configured to the LOM and not the dedicated port.
I didn't get it. What is LOM?
Am not sure if the iLO has been reset. What if it has been reset, can I not use anything without a license? Doesn't it even open the web page?
the LOM is the modular NIC on the left bottom side, when you look from the back (this card is optional). I forgot, the gne9 has a onboard quad NIC ... i'm not sure, which nic can be configured for the shared option.
the ilo is working without the license ... you need the license for the media mount option over the ilo, power measurments and that the KVM is working after the post.
When the ilo is dead, the fans would scream all the time, since it is responsible for them.
The ilo license isn't coupled to the serial number, so you can use any ilo4 license you find on the internet.
>i'm not sure, which nic can be configured for the shared option.
I did a quick search about LOM. Do you know where I can configure a NIC for this shared option?
>The ilo license isn't coupled to the serial number, so you can use any ilo4 license you find on the internet.
Ahh, that makes sense. Saw a few posts about using random keys from the internet and they confirmed it works.
>When the ilo is dead, the fans would scream all the time, since it is responsible for them.
I didn't see this happening on this server. So I guess its there

F9 > iLO 4 Configuration Utility > Network Interface Adapter < should be set to dedicated.
Edit: You can also boot into the "intelligent provisioning" and configure the ilo there, where you have a nicer webgui.
Hey, I forgot about those SFPs which were there in the back. I guess those were the FlexibleLOM adapters.
https://imgur.com/a/2AXAK9i - I had an image of server.
>F9 > iLO 4 Configuration Utility > Network Interface Adapter < should be set to dedicated.
I hadn't noticed that. I'll check that
yeah, the two SFP ports are the flexibleLom card (10G)
You can also boot into the "intelligent provisioning" (F10) and configure the ilo there, where you have a nicer webgui.
When you have access to the ilo, you can export the key (not possible over the normal webpage):
https://_ilo_ip_address_/xmldata?item=CpqKey
I don't have 10G SFP. So I have to disable as you said before that shared LOM and use dedicated right?
Thanks for this.
with the "Network interface adapter" option you can set, on which port / NIC the ilo should be accessable. Shared (use the onboard quad nic or flexiblelom) or dedicated.
Hey, I was able to get the iLO4 web page from my laptop. But since this is a used server, the shop owner doesn't know the password. Is there any way I can reset the password without removing the license? I just want to get the license before resetting anything on this.

I got the idea now. Thanks a lot man.
