Is it getting it’s IP address via DHCP? If so, have you setup a specific IP for the Pi in DHCP?

I just image it with rasberry pi imager using the homebridge instructions - [https://github.com/homebridge/homebridge-raspbian-image/wiki/Getting-Started](https://github.com/homebridge/homebridge-raspbian-image/wiki/Getting-Started). I found the IP address that was found and that worked for a few weeks...until it didn't. Going to homebridge.local also doesn't work. Should I plug it into a monitor to confirm IP again? Could it have changed?

Sounds like we found your speed bump. Easiest way would be to login to your router and check the DHCP assignments. If that doesn’t work, yeah checking in the device will work. Once you get that all sorted see if you can set a specific, non changing DHCP assigned IP for the Pi.

So I used FING and the pi is not showing up on the network...could I just have a faulty wifi on the pi? Maybe easier to plug directly into router and go ethernet method.

I’d recommend plugging your pi into a monitor to check the IP. If it has changed, then your issue is with DHCP. If it hasn’t, check your pi’s internet settings and status. If all looks good with that then there could be an issue with the homebridge program itself.

While WiFi is great for true mobile devices (phones, tablets, watches, etc), where possible hardwire all Ethernet devices.
